Zebulunia POV
I pulled the trigger and the loud crack shattered the silence. One of the men groaned on the ground, holding his shoulder. I had shot him. I shot someone! The next second, the other fled into the bushes. I sank into the dirt, shaking uncontrollably. Damon lay on the ground, blood at the corner of his mouth. My chest tightened in pain. “Damon, stay with me, please.” He was still unconscious as I pulled him to my laps, my finger felt his rapid, uneven heartbeat. “Please, hang on,” I whispered, darling 911. “There's been an attack…. My husband is hurt… hurry!” He was my husband and saying it out loud made the fear sting even more. This is all my fault. Before the paramedics arrived, the other man on the floor had sneaked into the bush. ~~ The winding roads of the city passed by, beautiful but meaningless to me. I sat beside Damon in the moving car, hands tight in my lap, stealing glances at him. His face was calm, unreadable. After everything that had happened, I expected anger, exhaustion, pain- but nothing. It was as if nothing happened at all. Occasionally, he glanced at me, a small smile on his lips. My face heated up at the sight. I really felt like removing the mask but I can't. At the hospital, everything had been chaotic. Sirens, rushing nurses, flashing lights. When the police arrived to question me, Damon stepped out of the ward with the nurses trailing behind him as if they wanted him to go back. I was surprised he came out already, because we just arrived. One of the nurses said he refused to take the medicines given to him. “No investigation. No medical check. It's unnecessary,” He said in a low, commanding voice. I nodded, uneasy, but somehow I trusted him more than I trusted myself. The police stepped aside as he took my hands and we left the hospital. The city lights blurred past as we drove. I could not just help but fear about the whole incident that had happened. Ethan was really behind this? What more would he do?. I had shot someone. I saw Damon in blood. Then…. There it was. His mansion. I pressed my lip into my mouth, biting my lower lip. It was stunning. Light shimmered on its walls, the garden looked perfect, and the fountain set rippled of shadow across the driveway. I couldn't believe this was his private home. I realised Damon was richer than I had imagined. A CEO, yes, but the scale of this wealth…it was incredible. He had promised to explain Ethan being the heir to the Empire not him after we got married. I really can't wait to know the mystery behind it. The car stopped inside the garage and we both stepped out. “You should have let me open the door for you,” He said with his usual smile. I wasn’t sure if he was joking or serious. He led me into the mansion. Silent, yet alive and beautiful. I could say it was more beautiful than his father's estate but was smaller, and personal. I had never been in such a place before. My parents were wealthy, but this…. This was something else. Most of my life had been spent in a remote place. This felt new, thrilling and intimidating all at once. “Do you like the place?” He asked but I just kept coming without responding and thank goodness he didn't press more on it. We passed doors, halls and staircases, each decorated with care. The step led us to a hallway with a special design path that drew my eyes with its elegance. Suddenly, he stepped and opened a brown door to the left. I swallowed, feeling awe and fear at the same time. The room kind of felt both masculine and feminine, I couldn't explain it but it was beautiful. I wanted to take it all in, but I couldn’t stop glancing at him. Was this my room? The room had a king-Size bed in the center, a door to the left that led to a dressing room, and another beside it that led to the bathroom….. I was still taking it all in, when he pulled off his shirt in front of me and tossed it onto the couch. Oh no!. I stared at the shirt, then slowly looked up. His chest and broad shoulders were bare. I quickly turned my face away and closed my eyes. Not again. Not again. Not now. But my body did not listen. My heart was beating fast. My skin felt warm. I wanted to move, but it was as my legs were glued to the ground. We were not supposed to share a room. I heard footsteps walking towards me. My pulse spiked, I froze. Was he walking towards me? His hand rested gently on my shoulder. A shiver ran down my spine, making my knees weaken. He slowly turned me to face him. I opened my eyes, and the intensity of his gaze stopped my breath. I wanted to look away, I needed to resist, yet I couldn't. I was trapped in his stare. “Where... Where's my room?” I managed to say trying to look composed. Before I could think further, he pulled me by the waist and my hands went to his chest, feeling the uneven beat of his chest. “This is our room…. As husband and wife,” He whispered close to my ears sending shivers down my spine What? I felt goosebumps all around my body. I should have objected to what he said, I should have demanded for my room, I wanted to push him away but my voice was gone, this man did strange things to me…I just stared into his sexy eyes. My body betrayed me. “You don't have to wear this when we’re alone,” he mumbled, gently removing my mask, my cheek burned, I felt my pulse quicken. His eyes changed at the sight of my face as it did last night, he brushed away the hair on my forehead, then brushed my cheek gently, I felt my knees weaken and my nipples harden inside my silky dress. He did all these with his eyes never leaving mine. What is wrong with me!? “I'm sorry for everyth…” he immediately placed his finger on my lips stopping me from speaking, “Don't say” He removed it. Slowly, his lips moved towards mine….. no! He's not going to kiss me.Zebulunia’s POVThe moment I picked up the phone, I turned off the cooker and walked away from Damon toward the luxurious dining room beside the kitchen. I needed privacy. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught him smirking before he headed upstairs. His eyes were a jerk. And what he did to me… unacceptable. But I didn't know how come it had so much control over me..... I wanted everything he did.Gosh.... stop thisThe call ended, but I still held the phone in my hand, staring at the screen like I was sure she would call again. My body had calmed down, my nipples no longer betraying me. Regret started to creep in—regret for the closeness, the moans I never expected to let slip. Holy shit. That feeling was strange. Weird. I wanted…Then the phone rang again.Amber.I hesitated for a few seconds before answering. What I heard caught me off guard. She was sobbing. My chest tightened instantly.“Amber, what is it?” I asked quickly. She didn’t answer right away. “Nothing, Zee, I’m alright.
Zebulunia’s POVThe scent of herbs filled the kitchen, sharp and earthy as I crushed stems into the boiling pot. I was preparing Damon medicine for the night before he returns The room was really bright from the artificial bulbs, but outside, night was already creeping in. Damon hadn’t returned yet, and I was worried—a little. My hands stayed busy, grinding and stirring, but my mind kept drifting back to last night—his quiet confession about his “heart.” The doctors couldn’t even name what was wrong with him. Medicine had reduced the pain, he said, but never enough and it does. That revelation had disturbed me, gnawed at me. But I remembered the village days, remembered a cure I’d once made for similar pain. Maybe, just maybe, I could help him too. That was why I had risked slipping out today, despite Damon’s order not to leave the gates and I should order the medicine online. I possibly can't do that, I had to see and feel everything I collect. So I used the map.The herbs hissed
Ethan POV“Damon,” one of the partners started coldly, “we’ve reviewed the files you sent… and, frankly, we can’t proceed with this contract. Your management appears… incompetent.”We were in a meeting with the Monevista director and manager, both seated to my right while Damon sat directly opposite me.The Monevista Group has always been one of the biggest rivals to our company, and Damon had been working tirelessly to secure their collaboration. And here it was… failing spectacularly.I fought back the grin rising on my lips. The partner flipped open a folder, and I almost laughed aloud. There it was: photographs of Damon and a woman, in bed, having sex. The bastard quickly grabbed another copy of the folder from the desk, his eyes widening in surprise. My satisfaction doubled. He wasn’t expecting this—surely not.The look on his face showed he was trying to figure out who could have humiliated him and ruined months of meticulous planning.“You’re telling us your assistant Jack migh
Damon POV The way her body shivered against my bare chest made my need grow. Her full breasts and palms pressed against me, making me hard. I wanted to bury myself inside her. I wanted to taste her. She felt so fragile in my arms. She closed her eyes as my face moved toward hers. What an innocent angel… I smirked and paused, staring at her bare face, tightening my grip on her slender waist. The dress she wore was fire. It showed every curve she tried to hide, and no man could resist. I couldn’t blame myself for being so possessive. This woman was breathtaking. I couldn’t give her what she wanted—not yet. She wanted me to kiss her, but I would take my time. She was mine. Only mine. And anyone who dared touch her would pay. The rage inside me boiled. Ethan. How dare he? He would pay, with his blood. And those who touched her… no one would escape. Immediately I got her message, I was on my way home from the office feeling excited I could have her to myself after we get here, only

Zebulunia POV I dropped the phone on my lap. My heart pounded like it wanted to leap out of my chest. The driver’s eyes were unreadable-calm, almost too calm.“Where… where are we going?" I asked, my voice trembling. No answer. “Sir? Please, tell me!” I shouted, gripping his seat. Then I stopped, if I should interrupt his driving we might both die in an accident and that isn't a win at all.Just then, another text came from Damon:‘What are you talking about?’I quickly replied:‘A strange car took me, I think I have been kidnapped.’Over a minute, Damon didn't reply, and panic tightened its grip around my chest. Had he left me to die? Did he really hate me that much? But for some reason, a small spark of hope flickered inside me. He could still come, He would come. Suddenly, the driver slowed. Then, with a loud clunk, the engine died. My stomach dropped. I screamed, banging on the window for help, maybe someone would help. But no one outside could see or hear me.“what's happeni
