LOGINA hand suddenly grabbed hers, making Norah flinch out of fear.
“Are you okay?” Sisi’s whispered, her voice was soft… almost caring, with a smile that didn’t even reach her eyes. Norah turned to look at her and sighed. Her vision was already unstable, but she could still see that smile… so fake. Norah slowly shook her head, her fingers curling into tight fists. She was set up!! Her gaze shifted weakly toward the tray of cake. Her eyes narrowed as everything began to connect. Those who took slices earlier didn’t take from the front… only from the back. A cold wave ran through her body. No matter how she tried to fight it, the drug was stronger than her. Sisi’s grip on her hand tightened. “Come,” she whispered close to her ear. “There’s a room upstairs. You can rest.” Her voice sounded gentle, but the way she pulled Norah was so harsh. “I’m very sure you will love it.” Norah stumbled as she was dragged along, her legs already losing strength. The music downstairs faded into a dull echo as they moved through the elevator, then toward the hallway. Each step felt heavier and her body became weaker. “Sisi…” Norah tried to speak, but the voice that came out was faint and almost broken. Sisi didn't response… and tightened the grip on her arm. After a while, they reached the upper floor. “Room 6…” Sisi mumbled, and the door was pushed open. Before Norah could even process anything, she was shoved inside. Her body stumbled forward, barely catching herself. “Enjoy your welcome back night,” Sisi’s voice came from behind, laced with mockery. Laughter followed, and Norah was surprised Sisi didn't came alone. Her friends were also there, it seemed like teamwork. Then the door slammed shut, followed by silence. Norah stood there for some seconds, her breathing becoming heavy, her vision began spun wildly. She tried to take a step, but her knees gave in. She fell onto the bed, her body sinking into the soft surface like it couldn’t hold itself anymore. Tears filled her eyes, slipping down the sides of her face without her knowing. She didn’t know why she deserved this kind of life. The humiliation was too much for her to bear. She suddenly wished Mr Matthew hadn’t adopted her. Her fingers clenched weakly into the bedsheet. “Why…” she whispered, her voice breaking. Her body burned and her head throbbed. She turned slightly, trying to steady herself, but it only made the dizziness worse. Her lips parted as she struggled to stay conscious. What scared her more was the faint sound of running water coming from the bathroom. The door opened, and a tall figure stepped out of the bathroom, a towel slung low around his hips, steam still curling off his shoulders. The bedroom was dark except for the faint amber glow from the bedside lamp, but even that small light revealed the figure on his bed. He froze for few seconds, then let out a low snort. “What the hell did I drank this night?” he muttered. The strange feeling wouldn’t go away, no matter how long he stayed under the shower. His pulse was already heavy in his throat. He had come back expecting an empty room, maybe a quick shower and sleep. Not this… “Daniel…” he groaned. “Must you do this? I’m going to deal with you tomorrow.” He made sure the main door was locked, then walked toward the bed with a deep sigh. The moment his eyes settled on her, something in him stirred restlessly! The beast he had been trying to tamed suddenly went barsek. He placed his hands on the bed, keeping a bit of distance. “Sorry, girlie. I don’t know what you’re doing on my bed, but…” He exhaled slowly. “Help me tonight. I’ll compensate you nicely. Deal?” Norah wanted to shake her head, but even that felt impossible. His voice only made everything more confusing, and her body felt strange and uncomfortable, like she wasn’t fully in control of herself anymore. She looked around nervously, and James laughed in amusement. “What are you looking for, my lady? Shouldn’t you be happy to see your childhood friend again?” Norah scoffed. “Whatever I see is not something good,” she said with fear, looking behind him, afraid she would see her nightmare. James chuckled and moved closer to her, putting his hands in his pockets. Norah stepped back, feeling uneasy. “I knew you were not alone!” she sighed the moment he bent to her height, looking at her face. “damn! You are now ripe to be eaten” “James?!” Norah froze. “You haven’t changed?” she frowned. “You can never change!!” James grinned and stood straight. “Same as you,” he sighed. “Are you the Michelson heir that came?” she asked nervously, hoping the answer was positive, but the man raised a brow. “How do you forget my surname? I’m Adams, guess who is from Michelson among us,” he smirked. Norah frowned, she didn’t recall anyone from Michelson. “Adams, Daniels… Kords… Michaels…” she stopped
Norah stepped into the kitchen and paused. Her eyes widened at the sight of the design. “Wow…” The place felt like heaven. Everything was shining, arranged perfectly, and filled with ingredients she had only seen on TV. Different spices, fresh vegetables, expensive meat, and tools that looked too advanced for a normal kitchen. Even the air smelled rich. For a moment, she forgot she was here to work. “You!” A voice snapped her back. Norah turned quickly. A woman in a chef's uniform pointed at her. “You’re the new one, right? Good. Start preparing the dishes for the guests. They’ll be here soon.” Norah nodded immediately. “Yes, ma'am.” She tied her hair properly and got to work. At first, the other maids kept glancing at her. Then the whispers started. “She’s the new girl?” “She’s actually pretty…” “Too pretty for this work…” One of them even walked closer, looking her up and down. “Are you sure you’re a maid?” Norah replied with a smile and focused on her task. Another gir
Norah carefully followed behind the old woman, her eyes wandering despite herself. The moment she stepped fully into the mansion, she almost forgot to breathe. It was… so overwhelming… Everything around her screamed wealth in a way she had never seen before, the floors shined like glass, reflecting the light from the massive chandelier above, the walls weren’t just decorated, they were covered in artworks and designs that looked too expensive to even touch, there were glass displays at the sides, filled with ornaments, crystals, and pieces that looked like they belonged in a museum. Her gaze moved slowly and she sighed at the sight of gold, silver, and shiny stones that looked too real to be fake. It felt like one wrong move and she might break something that could feed her for years. “They even keep treasures in the open…” she thought, her heart beating faster. “If someone takes one of these and runs, they’ll become a billionaire overnight…” “Walk faster.” The old woman’s voi
Sisi looked at her in surprise. “That’s very difficult…” “Yeah, yeah… I knew you would be thinking about what if he dumps you? And I know you have other reasons why you are afraid of him. But the only solution is to accept your fate and try to love him, if he loves you. He will be scared and won’t even give you time to think about marriage before he marries you, afraid you might marry another person.” Sisi froze. “Do you know him?” because she said exactly what’s happening. Norah shook her head innocently. “I read and studied them, try to learn about their past too,” she added. Sisi looked at her in a daze. “I’m afraid to open my heart to him.” “Because you were the one who fell first,” Norah completed. “Well, it happens, but you need to be careful, because you won’t be able to bear it once he finds another person who is willing to do anything to please him,” Norah yawned and stood. “I don’t see any reason for you not to love him back, because I’m very sure he must have helped yo
Night. At home. Norah was about to enter the kitchen when she noticed Sisi sitting alone in the sitting room, looking out the window in a daze. She looked lost and… lonely? It was her first time seeing her like that, and she was worried about what was bothering her. However, she remembered she didn’t like her. She sighed softly and decided to mind her own business, but knocking something down made a sound, distracting Sisi from her thoughts. She glanced at her and rolled her eyes. “Don’t even dare to come here, I don’t need anyone.” Norah thought she had misheard, she knew she had been standing there for a while, and she suddenly found it weird and hard to understand. “Why would I come to you when I’m passing through a similar thing?” Norah scoffed. Sisi frowned and looked at her, annoyed. “Similar situation? Looks like you have no idea what’s going on, you'd better get ready for your maid job tomorrow.” “That is it… She’s always looking down on people and thinks she will be ha
The next day. Sisi opened her eyes sharply, she looked around and was almost startled the moment she saw a man standing beside the bed, staring at her. "Stop looking at me like that, it's creepy." He chuckled and bent, kissing her forehead. "I can't help it, baby. Good morning, love." Seeing that she didn’t answer, he grabbed her neck roughly. Sisi nervously held his hand. "Stop doing this, I hate it." He grinned and raised her up by her neck. "I said. Good. morning. love." "Good morning..." Sisi said and gritted her teeth, expecting the man to leave her, but he didn’t, the grip rather became tighter. "Good morning, love," she said and was finally released, she coughed and rubbed her neck, pulling away from him slowly, but her waist was grabbed. "Leave me alone!" "You'd better behave, you’ve started now that you are now subber, I’m not gonna eat you," he chuckled, he was about to say another thing when his phone vibrated, he frowned and picked it from the table nearby. "Liam..
