Chase’s POV

I was preparing my kit to leave for training when Jonathan walked in.

“Where are you going?” He asked me.

“Isn’t that obvious?” I asked him in return.

I suspected that he was going to say exactly what I didn’t want to hear, so I ensured that I didn’t let him.

“I don’t want to hear it, Jonathan Price,” I warned him firmly.

Jonathan raised his hand in surrender.

“You know best, Chase,” he said. “But does Terry know about this?” Jonathan asked.

“Maybe you should learn to walk alone, Jonathan,” I said in response.

That left Jonathan confused, and I didn’t bother to explain anything to him. Right now wasn’t the time, and I wasn’t cut out for it.

“Is Carmen here yet?” I asked him.

“Yes, she is,” he answered.

“Good,” I said. “Go and tell her to wait by my car for me,” I said.

Jonathan hesitated for a second before leaving, and I sucked my teeth in annoyance. This was my own way of dismissing him.

Anyway, I got to the parking lot and found Carmen waiting by the car.
