Mia’s Pov.

The mansion was too quiet without him.

I stood in the middle of Daniel’s study, my pulse still racing from the echo of the front door slamming behind him. He had left in such a fury, his car growling down the driveway like a beast unleashed. I should have been relieved, or even scared, but instead a thrill spread through me, sweet and dangerous.

Finally, I was alone.

The silence pressed in, heavy, intimate. The grandfather clock ticked in the hall, each second a reminder that time belonged to me now. I moved slowly, deliberately, to his desk. My hand hovered over the smooth surface of the mahogany, the scent of his cologne clinging faintly to the leather chair. This room was his kingdom, his throne. And tonight, it was mine to desecrate.

Daniel thought I didn’t know. He thought I was blind to his secrets, deaf to his whispers, too obedient to ever pry. He was wrong.

Anabella’s POVMy chest trembled beneath the weight of a thousand broken promises. Life’s color had drained into a muted gray, and with each passing heartbeat, the emptiness inside me grew deeper. Peter—my sweet boy—was gone, ripped away from me by shadows I couldn’t turn or fight.I woke this morning to the phone’s shrill ring, a sound that rattled my already cracking bones. When I heard the panic in the voice on the other end, my world split apart.I sank into the bed, head buried in twisted sheets, trembling. My heart fractured into pieces too small to gather.“Isabella… tell me it’s not true,” my mother’s voice echoed through the phone, raw with tears. My heartbeat pounded in my ears. I couldn’t speak. The words lodged in my throat, heavy and bitter. I shook my head, though she couldn’t see. The ring of the dial tone sealed itself in my bones.I collapsed onto the mattress, tears flowing in silent rivers down my cheeks. Every breath was an ache.John was beside me. His eyes were

  • The Billionaire Legacy    chapter 47:I Need Her

Daniel's PovI couldn’t breathe. The steering wheel shook under my hands as I sped through the city, the glow of streetlights blurring past. I wasn’t sure if it was the car trembling or me. My chest was tight, my pulse hammering so hard it hurt.Peter.Gone.The detective’s words wouldn’t stop replaying. I’d heard them once, but it felt like a thousand echoes drilling into my skull. From where? How? I had screamed, but it didn’t matter. The boy was gone. Annabelle’s boy.Her only anchor. Her only weakness. And now her weapon. My mouth was dry, bitter with the taste of fear I hadn’t let myself feel in years. Fear was weakness, and weakness got you killed in my world. But tonight, it clung to me like smoke, suffocating.Because I knew what was at stake.Annabelle would never believe I had nothing to do with it. Not after everything I’d done to her. God, if she even suspected me, it would be over. Not just between us—if there was even an “us” left—but everything. My company. My empire

  • The Billionaire Legacy    Chapter 45:The Perfect. wife

Mia's Pov.The mansion was steeped in that rare kind of silence that felt alive, as if the walls themselves were listening. The only sound was the soft clink of glass as I swirled the wine in my goblet, watching the deep red catch the faint glow of the chandelier above. It bled like liquid rubies, heavy, intoxicating, and it made me smileAcross from me, Daniel sat in his armchair, head bent, fingers scrolling on his phone with his usual precision. His brows were furrowed, his face a perfect sculpture of composure. But then, his phone vibrated again — not the usual line, not the company call, but the other one. The one only a handful of people knew.I knew it was his detective. I had never met the man, but I had heard the name whispered enough to know. Daniel kept him close for matters he didn’t want anyone else to touch. He answered quickly, his tone clipped. “Yes?”The moment stretched. I held my breath without meaning to.Then his expression changed. Just a flicker at first — but i
