My heart was beating too fast threatening to explode in my chest because I was feeling hopeful and anxious and I just could not believe what was happening. The sun was getting higher in the sky. It was shining really brightly all over the city but I did not even notice it. The only thing that mattered to me was John still being stuck in prison for a crime, he didn't commit. I really needed to figure out a way to make things right, for John.Mia rode beside me she was silent. The way Mia was sitting there was really serious like Mia was thinking about something. I could tell Mia was thinking about every thing that could happen every single possibility. I did not trust Mia completely not yet.. Tonight Mia was on my side and that was enough, for me.The prison gates were right, in front of me they were gray. They looked really
CH 190.Anabella Pov.The house was quiet, but my mind was anything but.I really tried to fall asleep.. I just could not stop thinking about John. The picture of John behind iron bars would not go away. It just kept playing over and over in my head. I saw John with his hands locked up. His eyes were looking for someone. That someone was not there. The cell where John was was really small. The air in that cell felt heavy it was hard to breathe.. The worst part is that John did not do anything wrong. John did not do anything all. The image of John, behind those iron bars it was just so sad. John was innocent John had done nothing.I held myself tight and sat on the edge of the bed. The room was cold. It was making me feel cold too. My little boy Peter was sleeping in his room down the hall. He had no idea what was going on. He is a kid. He should have a life without people doing bad things to him.. That is not what is happening to us. Peter deserves better.I had a choice to make. I c
John's POV The following morning we arrived at the road to the Vanguard Weaponry complex side by side, my stomach all tight because we had no idea what we were about to enter into. The location was massive - a massive factory on the outskirts of the city, with security checkpoints and razor wire. Guard towers were placed at every corner but none were manned over years- the company had been reduced to stafflessness due to budget cuts. We passed by the main gate; the guard recognized my name, and simply gave us a pass. The car park was quite deserted--layoffs were reducing the crew during the past few months. We located a place beside the door and got out. The lobby was silent, much more silent than Daniel had ever made it. The receptionist was surprised to see us and she looked up out of her desk. “Mr. We did not expect you till later, McQueen, I stood up, she said. The boardboard in the conference room awaits you. Annabella took my hand and we went to the elevators. You might
John's POV I leaned back in my chair, and considered their proposal. A part of me was tempted to say no immediately since it was so wrong to assume the company of Daniel on so many levels. But there was one other part that caught the opportunity they were presenting. Vanguard already possessed technology, agreements and means that could become gold should I manage it properly. And to be quite frank, in case I were in charge I would ensure that the place was run in an ethical manner rather than letting some drunkard continue to play with the corrupt strings of Daniel. I have to think of this, I said at the end. I can not make a decision in a single sit down. I must read the books of Vanguard, discuss this with my legal crew, and consult Annabella before I put anything in lock-up. "We get it," Elowen nodded. But we must have the answer within forty-eight hours. The more we are dead headed the more we are losing money and credibility by the day. "Forty‑eight hours," I agreed. I w
John's POV When I was browsing the quarterly reports of my weapons manufacturing division, my assistant Sarah tapped my office door at the exact time of eleven thirty in the morning. She appeared flustered in a manner that instantly informed me that something strange was about to happen since Sarah had been with me eight years and nothing ever comes to disturb her calmness. six people down the stairs would see you, Mr. Mcqueen, said she, with a nervous look behind her that they might at any moment appear behind her. They belong to Vanguard Weaponry. Security is attempting to hold them in the lobby but they are insisting that it is urgent. I put down the report I was reading, and was confused, as I had no meetings with any one of the Vanguard today or any other day. Since his arrest and death in prison three months ago, Daniel had a mess in his company. The last I heard, the board was squabbling amongst themselves as to who was to get the wheel as the company was bleeding money a
Johns POV Her face turned all pale since although she could not remember the nightmare itself she could still sense that something had happened. Oh, she said, and looked at her hands. “I’m sorry.”Stop apologising, I said, and took her hand. “This isn’t your fault. What Daniel did to you and Peter was traumatic. It is understandable that you are dreaming about it at night.Three weeks ago, she protested. “I should be over it by now.”Trauma does not work that way, I said, and grabbed her hand. You can not just choose to be over something because you feel that enough time has elapsed. It takes your mind some time to digest what has occurred. She pulled away her hand and left the bed as though she did not want the conversation to continue any further. I am all right, I said, as I went to the bathroom. “It was just a bad dream. Every person has bad dreams occasionally.I jumped out of bed to pursue her since I was not going to allow her to brush this off. This is the fourth time in two
