Sophia's POV

Alexander was standing in the entrance to the lobby. He was wearing an expensive, dark gray suit. His posture was rigid, that of someone in control. His eyes found me immediately, without surprise. It was as if he knew I would be there.

I froze in place. My hands were sweating. My heart was pounding hard in my chest. I was a mess. He looked perfect, as always.

He crossed the lobby quickly, his shoes echoing on the marble. Before I could speak, he was at my side. His hand gripped my arm, firmly. His voice was low, a command.

"You finished late today."

I tried to pull free, but his strength was greater. "Let me go, Alexander. I'm going home."

He ignored my struggle. His face came close to mine. I felt his warm breath on my ear.

"I missed you."

I turned my face away, avoiding the fire in that gaze. "What are you talking about? You're engaged. Remember? Or is the ring on your finger just an accessory?"
