Nadira's POV

I was beginning business school next and I was contemplating moving out of the Evahart mansion. I could no longer deal with my step mother's nagging and ordering me around like I was some slave. Liora, her daughter had made it her life's work to be her mom's partner crime. I came back home last night and just couldn't wrap my head around what's been going on for the past few months. From Being Reborn, to loosing weight, to Thane following me around, he didn't do that in my past life and it bothered the hell out me. Even though I still had feelings for him and my heart raced whenever he was nearby, I could never be that girl ever again. Then we have Celestine's cryptic message and that seal I can't get off my mind. I rubbed my face and got of my face, deciding to take each day as it came. I was simply not that girl anymore.

I took a quick shower and got dressed, the plan was to pack up and move to an apartment I got downtown, it was under the pretense that I was moving into the dorm. Pulling out my suitcases, I began dumping my clothes into them. Not that I would need all of them, I already last a considerable amount of weight in the past month. I wasn't at my desired body shape yet, but I hope to get there. Getting new clothes was the next thing on my to do list. I was done packing my necessities when my phone pinged with a notification. Frowning, I reached for it. The first thing I did after being reborn was to change my cell phone number.

I tapped open the message and it read. 'Won't be available for the next two weeks, my love. Going on a business trip and I'll see you when I get back' I scoffed when I was done reading. It was only one man I knew who had the ability to sound cocky and charming at the same time.

I was about dropping my phone when another message came in. 'Come on, dear. You can't leave me unread' and with the text came a sad emoji.

So he knew how to use an Emoji, who thought. Smiling, I immediately typed back a response. 'I don't care when you get back how did you get this number?' I typed and hit send.

I went back to arranging my clothes, few minutes later, my phone rang and without checking the caller, I answered.

"Hello!"

"It's good to hear your voice, Nadi." His manly voice reverberated through the speakers, and I froze.

"Thane?",

"The one and only." He answered and I could feel him smile.

"How did you get my number?" I frowned, feeling a bit annoyed.

"I run a tech company, Nadi. Figure it out. " He said and I scoffed.

"Okay, bye. I'm hanging up." I threatened and immediately I heard him say " No, wait. I'm sorry. I tried reaching you through your old line and it didn't go through. I figured you might have switched and I had my guys do the rest." He explained.

"Hmmm" I mumbled, suddenly speechless.

Silence descended upon us for a few seconds, with just our breathing to be heard.

"What do you want, Thane? " I asked, breaking the silence.

"The same thing I wanted when you asked me yesterday. Marry me, Nadira. " He said. There was something about his tone that made me want to consider, but I was immediately hit with the memory of how I was maltreated in my past life.

"And I said I can't, Thane. " I snapped.

"Can't or won't, Nira?"

My belly fluttered slightly at his use of my nickname.

"You just don't ask someone to marry you put of the blue. They're process to this things. Not that someone like you would be willing to follow." I muttered. I heard him heave a sigh at the background and I braced myself for what was next. In my previous life, Thane was always quick to temper.

"I want to see you when I get back." He said instead surprising me.

"What? Why?" I asked, still in shock.

"You want me to follow the process, right? That's exactly what I want to do." He answered, rendering me speechless.

"And Nadira?" He spoke after a minute of silence. "Don't let me chase you down. If I have to look for you, which I don't like to, I would chase you down and when I do — I won't give two fvcks to what you call process, I'll drag you to the altar. Willing or not."

I couldn't think of any reason why someone like Thane would be willing to go this length when in my previous life he didn't... Unless, he too had been reborn and was willing to write his wrongs.

"Take care of yourself, baby girl." He said before hanging up.

I was still reeling from what he had said when someone barged into my room.

"Thought you might be hiding out here." Liora said and I glared at her. I wasn't in the mood for any of her games, so I just jumped right on my bed and texted Thane back.

'Let's meet, but don't be a jerk and ruin it'

I hot send and immediately texted my gym trainer and set up another meeting with him.

"The maids are heading to the market, mom said you should go with them." She stated and I snorted, ignoring her completely.

"What was that?" She raged, coming closer. I stared up at her from where I lay, preparing myself for what she was going to do. She always hated when I treated her presence like they meant nothing to me... It was the truth only thing now was it meant less than nothing.

"Get up from the bed, Nadira." She snapped.

"Tell your mother I'm not interested in serving her today and get out of my room Liora, before I do something you wouldn't like... "

  • The Billionaire Second Chance Vow   The Lion’s Den

(Thane POV)I sat in the car across the street, knuckles tight on the steering wheel. Nadira had been walking for nearly forty minutes instead of taking the car. Forty minutes. My chest tightened, but it wasn’t anger at her—well, not entirely. It was frustration at myself.I watched her disappear into the narrow alley leading to that tech shop. That place. She shouldn’t even be there. Not for a second.I pulled my phone out, tracking her GPS. The little icon moved deeper into the district. My stomach churned. She wasn’t going home. She wasn’t going to school. She was going somewhere she shouldn’t.I remembered the conversation with my grandfather last night, sitting across from Archibald in the dining room.“You need to control her,” he had said, voice low but sharp. “If she doesn’t behave, the family fixers will take care of her.”I remembered the cold glint in his eye, the way he said take care. I had nodded like a perfect grandson, but inside, I’d been seething. I didn’t want her

  • The Billionaire Second Chance Vow   The Ghost in the Machine

I didn’t look back at the black sedan. I knew the driver was probably on his phone right now, reporting to Thane that I was walking away. Let him. My heels clicked against the pavement, a steady, rhythmic sound that felt like a countdown.Every block I put between myself and that car made the air feel a little easier to breathe. But the image of the text message—Thane, Magnolia, and that smug caption—was stuck in my head like a bruise. "Already forgotten," it had said. I gripped my bag tighter. If he wanted to forget me, fine. I would make sure he remembered the day I became his biggest headache instead. The neighborhood changed the further I walked. The shiny glass towers of the business district gave way to older, grimy brick buildings. Neon signs flickered with missing letters, and the smell of expensive coffee was replaced by the heavy scent of grease and old metal. This was the tech district, the place where things went to get fixed or disappear.I found the shop tucked betwe

  • The Billionaire Second Chance Vow   The Paper Shield

(Nadira POV)The apartment felt too quiet after Grandma V left. The kind of quiet that made every tick of the clock louder than it should be. I stared at the photo on the floor, the one with the red X slashed across it. My hands shook slightly as I picked it up again. It wasn’t just a warning anymore—it was proof that someone wanted me out of the game. That someone thought I was a threat.I hugged the photo to my chest for a moment, feeling the weight of it. In my first life, no one had cared enough to threaten me. I was invisible, weak, powerless. Now? Now, standing up for myself made me a target. That thought made my chest tighten.I grabbed a hollowed-out book from my shelf, slid the photo inside, and closed it quietly. Safe for now. I whispered to myself. Secrets were going to be my armor. If I was going to survive this second chance, I couldn’t let anyone see my weaknesses. Not even my father. Not even Thane.By the time I finished, the apartment felt too empty. I opened my lapt

  • The Billionaire Second Chance Vow   The Visit

(Nadira POV)I was exhausted, feeling as though I'd been dragged through the mud by the time I reached my apartment door. My head raced from being spoken to all day, and my chest hurt from yet another blowout with Thane. I just wanted to fall across my couch and sleep for a week.I opened the door and stood in shock. There was someone on my couch. Not anyone."Grandma V?" I blinked. My not so secret investor. She was lounging with crossed legs, having a cup of tea as if she were at home. She looked totally at ease, like it was the most normal thing to do in the world to break into my apartment."Took you long enough," she said, setting her cup down. "I was starting to worry you'd skipped out."I allowed my bag to crash to the floor and rushed over. "You—you can't just lie here like that! How did you even get in?"She shrugged. "Keys. Connections. Don't ask questions you don't want the answers to."I chuckled despite myself and hugged her hard. "It's nice to see you.""Of course it is

  • The Billionaire Second Chance Vow   The Breaking Edge

(Nadira POV)The car ride was silent except for the sound of the tires against the road. I sat with my arms folded, staring out the window.“You’re sulking again,” Thane said, his voice calm but edged with that usual firmness.“I’m not sulking. I just don’t like this arrangement,” I muttered.“You’re safer this way,” he replied without looking at me.I rolled my eyes. “I can take myself to school, you know. I’m not a child who needs escort duty every morning.”His hand tightened slightly on the wheel. “I already told you—until things settle, I’ll be the one dropping you off. The driver will pick you up after.”“I don’t want your driver either,” I snapped. He didn’t respond. That was Thane—once his mind was made up, there was no point arguing. Still, the silence between us felt heavier than usual. When the car stopped in front of the gates, I unbuckled quickly. “Thanks for the ride, boss,” I said dryly, pushing the door open before he could say anything else.I heard him call my name,

  • The Billionaire Second Chance Vow   Fault Lines

(Thane POV)Patience had never been my strong suit, and Nadira was testing me to it in ways no one else ever had. With each moment I shared watching her and Beckett laughing at his stupid jokes, it tore at me. I told myself it was because Beckett couldn't be trusted. That was true—he wasn't innocent. But the jealousy underlying it was eating me alive, and I hated that I couldn't admit it.I put the thought to rest when I walked into the meeting room at Nightingale Tech. My team was already there. The table was covered with papers, photos, and laptops that were showing files I'd been looking forward to reading for days. Marcus was the first one to stand up, holding out a folder. "Boss, we've checked. The tampering of Miss Evahart's brakes was not accidental."I sat at the head of the table, unfolding the folder. Black-and-white pictures showed the bottom of her car, the clean cut of the brake line."Continue," I said to him."It was a pro, not amateur," Marcus continued. "They weren't
