Riley’s POV

I stood in front of the mirror longer than I usually do. For some reason, I cared a little too much about what I looked like today. My wardrobe was full of designer clothes, that had once felt excessive, but today I searched through them with purpose. A fitted navy skirt, silk blouse tucked neatly in, hair styled just enough to look professional but not stiff.

When I finally stepped back, the reflection looking back at me felt… too intentional. A sly voice inside whispered that maybe I was dressing up for him. Michael Gray.

I shook my head quickly and pushed the ridiculous thought aside. This was work, nothing more. I picked up my bag, carefully slipping the flash drive into the inner pocket like it was something fragile. My fingers lingered on it for a second longer than necessary, as though I needed to remind myself of its weight.

I straightened my posture and walked out of the penthouse, heels clicking steadily against the polished floor, every step measured. By the tim

Unknown POVI froze in place, every muscle in my body tight, my heart beating so loud I was sure it could be heard outside the room. A thousand excuses swirled in my head, none of them good enough to save me if someone stepped inside and saw me here. Sienna promised she would warn me before Riley returned, so how could she forget? Or maybe she wanted me to get caught. Before I could make sense of it, I heard a soft female voice outside.“Brighton, are you looking for Riley?”“Yes,” Brighton’s voice answered from the door, calm and casual.“She’s not around. I saw her leave a few minutes ago.”The door closed, and their footsteps faded down the hallway.I stayed still even after their footsteps faded, counting to ten in my head. The silence pressed in like a weight. Only when I reached ten did I dare move, slipping out like a shadow afraid of its own outline. No one was there.A shaky breath escaped me, the kind that burns your chest on the way out. I adjusted my blouse, forcing myself

Zara’s POVMy phone buzzed on the couch beside me, the screen lighting up with Sienna’s name. I already had an idea what it might be about. She rarely reached out without some hidden agenda tucked neatly behind her words. The message confirmed it. Riley. Again.According to her, Riley was in charge of a major project for my brother. Sienna wanted us to use this opportunity to push Riley out of Gray Enterprises completely.I leaned back against the cushions, staring at the words. For a second, I thought about Michael, about how important projects like this were to him. I hated the idea of him losing anything he had worked for, guilt pricked sharp in my chest. But then I reminded myself, one project wouldn’t topple him. He had built an empire. I clung to that thought like armor, convincing myself it was true.If this was what it took to get Riley out of his orbit, maybe it was worth it.At least his safety would be secure.I typed back quickly, asking what her plan was. Her reply came f

Sienna’s POVI flipped through the stack of documents on my desk, the sound of paper brushing against paper filling the quiet of my office. My phone buzzed against the desk. I glanced at the screen, the name of my source at Gray Enterprises glowing back at me. Without hesitation, I answered.“What do you have?” I asked, keeping my voice low.“She has been given a new responsibility,” the woman reported. “Riley is handling one of the company’s biggest deals.”I tapped my finger slowly against the desk. “How important is it?”“Very important,” she replied. “Gray Enterprises is competing with a foreign firm for the contract. Several others are interested, but from what I have seen, this deal could shift a lot for them.”For a moment, I stayed silent. The only sound was the faint rustle of papers in the background on her end. I let the pause stretch, enjoying how even she seemed to wait for my reaction.“Keep your eyes on her,” I said finally, then ended the call.I leaned back in my cha

Michael POVI had come in earlier than usual, hoping work would drown out the noise in my head, but instead it only seemed to sharpen it. The night replayed itself the moment I sat behind my desk. Myra’s call had been the first interruption. She said Riley had met someone after work. Then Cole confirmed it was Zara, my sister. That should have eased me, but both reports ended the same way. Riley walking out of the café pale, like something had hollowed her out.I trust Zara, that wasn’t the issue. It was Riley’s face I couldn’t shake, the way Myra had described it, the way Cole had echoed it.When I called her, her voice was thin, stripped of its usual clipped care. She sounded heavy, like she was carrying weight she didn’t want me to see. That tone left a chill in me I couldn’t reason away. By the time I hung up, I was already on my way home.Relief washed through me when I saw her. She brushed it off as tiredness, but I knew better. The shy way she looked at me, the soft hesitance

  • The Billionaire She Rejected.   Chapter 74: Eyes On Me.

Riley’s POVThe boardroom buzzed as I stepped inside. Papers rustled over polished wood, voices hummed low, and the sharp scent of coffee lingered in the air. Heels clicked on marble as late arrivals rushed to their seats, yet the room carried a hush that pressed against my skin.I paused at the doorway, the weight of the room settling over me. Every glance weighed me, every silence sharpened. For a moment, I felt small, insignificant in a space built on power and money. Then I straightened, shoulders square, reminding myself I belonged here. I had earned this seat, no matter what the atmosphere suggested. My eyes searched for him instinctively. Michael sat at the head of the table, dark suit crisp, posture carved from confidence. His expression held no hint of emotion, gaze locked on something beyond me. He seemed untouchable here, so far removed from the man who had stood on my balcony last night, concern etched in his eyes. For a fleeting second, I wondered if that moment meant any
