When Sophia opened her eyes later, she saw some people were taking pictures and she was surprised that there were people standing by to ask her questions. She found herself raised to a sitting position but was having a panting headache.
Her mind went blank and her tongue glued to the roof of her mouth. Momentarily, she doesn't know what was happening at first. “You're awake miss, why did you attempt to kidnap the young master of the Asher family?” A journalist asked. Sophia glared on, not knowing what happened. She glanced around and saw men standing by fiercely with a freezing gaze. “You knew young master Amil Amstel is the heir of that family and you decided to kidnap him. How much were you promised to be given when you brought him?” Another journalist asked. “You're a kidnapper but you couldn't get away with it” “Beauty but a beast. Luck has run out against you” “Isn't this the daughter of the Shawn family, the bad egg of her family who got pregnant out of wedlock having been promiscuous from childhood….” All of those words seemed to eventually get to Sophia and she snapped out of her semi unconscious state. The boy! Where is he, is he safe? What happened? The ladder, then the rope and how it gave way, the sudden speedy movement downwards and then… And then what, what happened? Her head hurt and she held it painfully. She passed out and the boy? She wanted to get off, ignoring the stupid people questioning her, who knows next to nothing about her or what happened. But her ankle hurts and she remembered her hurting ankle, hence she sat back. More character assassinating questions were thrown at her. The wedding was now over, Sophia didn't know how long she'd fainted as the Shawn family alongside other invited guests stepped. They saw a crowd gathered. Not interested in the crowd, Beny Shawn hugged her classy daughter. She's so proud of Diana. She's the daughter any woman would dream of having in her next life and over. “I love you mummy,” Diana confessed, holding hands with Kabir, her fiance. She's so blessed now. She's doing well as an actress and her parents are the best in the world. Now she's engaged to Kabir, her prince charming and has always been the cherished one. Her life is beautiful and fulfilling. Dekunle Shawn was happy. He was having a last minute conversation when one of the men said “Isn't that your daughter, Dekunle?” Beny was close enough to hear it. She froze. She glanced in the direction the guest pointed. She hates it when people point to that filth as her daughter. How could she be so jinxed to conceive that evil seed in her belly and birth it as a child? Despite a few years having passed, it seemed just like yesterday when her promiscuous lifestyle almost ruined their relationship and business deal with Kabir Jamil's family. Both Dekunle and everyone standing by glanced in the direction where the man pointed, it's the same spot where those crowds had gathered. “Take her away, she's a kidnapper. Her family wouldn't even associate with her. She's a characterless woman, she should be jailed…” Dekunle felt a gush of adrenaline run down his spine. What has Sophia gotten herself into again, having just stepped out of the blues? Why is this girl getting into one terrible mischief or the other? “Get into the car quickly, Diana and you Kabir. That girl's evil vibes should not rob on you..” Beny urged, hurrying Kabir into the car. It was at that instant that Kabir saw her. His ex-fiance! Sophia has stepped out of her hiding after five years? And she has to do it on his wedding day? Diana quickly hurried into Kabir's newest model of Bentley and shut the door. Seeing her beloved daughter and her husband was safely seated in the car, Beny wanted to slide into the car when she saw someone pointed at her. “That's her mother and her father. She's the daughter of the Shawn family. She's the young Miss of that family…” Beny hates being called Sophia's mother. She gnashed her teeth, seeing how ruffled her hair had become and off course she was now bare footed, and made to sit on the floor. She has lost face before the guests. She'd tried to ruin Diana's wedding, she had her dragged out, gave her two brain resetting slaps and had her locked up somewhere. How on earth could she have predicted that the evil aura has come upon her again and she crawled out to kidnap someone? The journalists hearing such words, turned in the direction of her parents and started coming towards them. All the friends and guests standing by Dekunle quickly excused themselves and the couple were left alone in utmost embarrassment. “Sir, your daughter just added another title to herself, a kidnapper” someone mocked. He could see Dekunle gaze fixed on his daughter. “She's not a kidnapper. What evidence do you have against her?” Dekunle snapped at the imbecile. No matter what happens to Sophia, she's still his daughter. “Wait until the Asher family takes up the case against you. She kidnapped the youngest son of the Asher family and was escaping with him when luck ran against her…” “What, Asher family?” Dekunle exclaimed. The strongest family in Hilltown city? “What?” Beny exclaimed, turning to glance at her husband. What has Sophia done this time? Being away had turned her into a hardened criminal? In fear and fury, Beny Shawn snatched the microphone from the nearby journalist and declared “I Beny Shawn, on behalf of my husband and I, hereby announced that we have no daughter that is called Sophia. Diana Shawn is our daughter and besides her, we are not in any way related to that criminal called Sophia. She sprung up from the gutters to dent our family's name and reputation…” A sudden silence descended on everyone present. Sophia heard her and she sneered non challantly. What use is it to her, being a member of that family? She'd only experience pain and rejection from her. Opening severing ties with her, was only helping her to erase them completely from her mind and consciousness. Amidst that silence, a path was created and a certain man, tall and elegant man clad in Tuxedo and a custom made leather shoes walked amidst his bodyguards towards her. His presence created a more serene atmosphere and a compressing aura. He wore a dark shade and his appearance screams of wealth and Class. As he stood, towering over the woman on the floor coldly, he sneered. A feeling of hatred surged within him. "You attempted to kidnap my son, I'll make you pay!" he declared.“I see that you have been discussing things with Dave lately, huh” he murmured and then tickled her by the sides. Sophia jerked and tried holding his hands, laughing at the same time. “I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about a certain person” “I see, I wasn't tickling you, I am tickling a certain person” Stan retorted, laughing out loud. Seeing that sweet part of him was amusing. He intertwined his fingers with hers and brought her head to lay against his chest, caressing her upper arm gently. After some time,“my love” he called out like a whisper. He gently bent over and kissed her. They soon arrived at the parking lot and the chauffeur stepped out. Sophia was being cuddled and she didn't respond to his call. When they got in, Stan was kind of reserved, he wasn't saying anything. As Sophia stood before him, moving her hair aside and requesting him to pull down the zipper on her dress. He did but didn't let her go. “Sophia,” he called ag
She'd sent a message to Dave to join them at the garden park at booth number 5. On the tray before them were drinks served and tumblers. Sophia poured herself a drink and poured some for Miranda too. “How're you doing, Miranda?” Sophia asked, raising her tumbler for a toast. They clicked their glasses together before taking a sip from them. “I’m fine. Can't believe I am seated here before you Sophia Shawn” Miranda chimed. Everyone wants to be associated with celebrities and this is happening to her without even making any efforts. “You've got to believe your eyes, dear. And I hope henceforth, we'll see each other more often and spend time together more” Sophia responded. They talked, exchanged pleasantries and still Sophia didn't say anything about why she invited Miranda. On the other hand, Miranda was getting impatient. Being around this movie star is a dream come true but why did she invite her over? There must be a reason why she called her. It can't be drinking out togethe
Dave chuckled and shrugged “of course I am happy. What are you talking about?” He asked, not knowing where exactly her words were heading to. “Can you say that you were happy, that moment when your eyes locked with Miranda at the movie premiere?” Sophia asked, her gaze fixed on him. Dave went speechless. He didn't respond to Sophia and she continued “I'm sorry if I poke your healing wound. But you know it wouldn't hurt you if it's a mere scar like the way her name causes you a pain in the heart. It's because the heartbreak remains fresh and probably bleeding at this moment. I have been in love before, Dave, and I know what it means to be in love. You still love her. Why don't you get back together with her? Stop hurting yourself Dave. Everyone is worried about you. Mom, dad, Stan and even me. We all love you…” Sophia persuaded him. Dave's eyes have gone reddened. His facial expression is sad. He sighed audibly and glanced at Sophia with reddened eyes “sh
There was a sudden stillness that descended on them both. Craig's excitement evaporated and he stared at Sophia. The smiles dissipated. Her bitterness atoned for? “....The family is shattered apart, thanks to you and your dad playing a pivotal role in seeing it happen. You have wished for it and it has happened. You can stay happy with him and whoever he chooses to be involved with. You're a mother too, right? Can you ever hate your son? How can you think that I hate you? I have treated you unfairly in the past, but that's over. I apologised to you at your grandfather's burial but you couldn't find a place in your heart to forgive this woman who coincidentally happens to be your mother. I wanted us to talk about it the entire night but karma and fate ensured we missed each other. Those files that Craig gave you are the documents to my personal properties. There's a key strapped into one of those files, take it, the information is all embedded in the file. I
Sophia's eyes went cloudy. What had she done now? How can Craig accused her of being a different person? She'd always being the same person all these years. She took the bashing and the betrayal and didn't fight back. What is wrong if she revolts at this point? Does he expect her to remain sheepish forever? Gradually she'd forgiven everyone who hurts her,Stan, her dad, Kabir except that he crossed the lines and Stan taught him a lesson. “Craig don't talk nonsense. I woke up late. The accident on one hand and the late night sleep on the other hand. I couldn't cheat nature and I slept longer than I would have really done. Why are you sermonising me and making me feel like I had done something wrong?” Sophia scolded. “You still didn't see anything wrong with what you did, I know. But anyways, I'm leaving and you're mom left a message for you when you couldn't make it early. I kept them by your bedside drawer. I'm leaving” Craig declared. “You wait for me, I'll be
Sophia was quiet, her alertness awakened. She heard her voice, that was Benny Shawn, her mother. What is she doing there? That must be her apartment not Craig's condo. What the heck is going on, shouldn't she go after Diana and her husband, why is she there? “Craig, isn't that Benny Shawn's voice?” Sophia asked and she got her response almost immediately “yes, it's my voice. You should address me as my mother Sophia.” Benny paused and waited for Sophia to say something but she didn't. Hence she continued “I have waited at your door for hours until Craig arrived…” she stuttered. “At my door? What do you want from me?” Sophia asked, feigning ignorance. Being together with one's partner is not a matter of life and death. If her dad, doesn't want to remain married to her, she can leave. Why pestering everyone about the whole shit. “On the contrary, I don't want anything from you. I just needed to see you for the last time dear” Benny responded. It's not about getting a
