LOGINCHAPTER THIRTEEN: SOMETHING SOFT
CASPIAN'S POV I stayed with her. I didn’t plan to. When we first arrived at the hospital, I only meant to make sure Serena was safe and that the doctor had everything under control. But the moment I saw her face when she held her brother’s hand, something inside me refused to leave. I couldn't bare to leave her alone. I stood near the wall of Lucas’s room for a long time. Serena sat on the edge of the bed, talking to him in a soft voice I had never heard before. She brushed his hair back. She smiled even when her eyes looked tired. She kept telling him everything would be okay. I watched her. This was a different Serena. Not the woman who cursed me in bed. Not the woman who glared at me across the dinner table. This version was gentle, protective and full of love so pure it made my chest feel tight. Helena’s voice tried to push into my head again. Emotions are weaknesses. Attachment destroys men like us. I pushed the voice away. Hours passed. Nurses came and went. The machines kept their steady beeping. Serena never left her brother’s side. When Lucas finally fell asleep, she still held his hand. I walked over and placed a chair behind her. “Sit properly, Serena” I said quietly. She looked up at me, surprised, then sat down without arguing. I stayed standing beside her. After a while, I brought her a bottle of water from the hallway. She took it without looking at me, but her fingers brushed mine for a second. The night grew long. I didn’t leave. I didn't want to. Around two in the morning, Serena’s head started to drop. She was fighting sleep. I pulled another chair close and sat beside her. When her eyes closed completely, her head slowly leaned toward my shoulder. I stayed still. I didn’t move away. For the first time in years, I let someone rest against me without turning it into control or desire. It felt strange and dangerous. It was…soft. I looked at her sleeping face. The same face that usually looked at me with anger or heat. Right now it looked peaceful. I wanted to protect that peace. I wanted her to be peaceful around me. The thought scared me more than any business rival ever had. Morning light slowly entered the room through the blinds. Serena woke up with a small jolt. She blinked, realized her head had been on my shoulder, and quickly sat up straight. Her cheeks turned pink. “You stayed the whole night?” she asked, her voice rough from sleep. “Yes.” She stared at me for a long moment, like she didn’t know what to do with that answer. “I'm sorry for putting you in this condition.” She eventually said. Her voice soft. Lucas was still sleeping. Before I could respond, a nurse came in, checked his monitors, and gave us a quiet nod. Everything was stable. Serena still looked worried. She kept glancing at her brother every few seconds. I stood up and walked to the door. “I’ll speak with the doctor again. Just to make sure.” Dr. Ramirez was already in the hallway with a clipboard. I asked him the same questions I had asked the night before. He answered patiently. “Lucas is stable. The reaction was controlled. The specialist will arrive next week as planned. There is no immediate danger. He was fine.” I thanked him and went back into the room. Serena was standing beside the bed now, still watching her brother. “He’s fine,” I told her. “The doctor confirmed it again. Everything is totally under control.” She nodded, but her eyes still looked unsure. I stepped closer. “Serena. He’s okay. You can go home and rest. We’ll come back later if you want.” She looked at Lucas one more time, then at me. After a long pause, she finally nodded. “Okay.” I drove her home. The morning traffic was light. Serena sat quietly in the passenger seat, her hands folded on her lap. She looked exhausted. I kept my eyes on the road, but every few minutes I glanced at her. Something had shifted between us last night. I could feel it. The usual sharp tension was still there, but underneath it was something softer. Something I didn’t have a name for yet. When we reached the mansion, I parked the car and walked around to open her door. She stepped out slowly. We walked inside together. The house was quiet. The private chef was supposed to come in later in the day. Serena stopped in the middle of the living room. She turned to face me. “Thank you,” she said softly. “For staying. And for… everything with Lucas.” I looked at her. Really looked at her. Her tired eyes. The soft expression she rarely showed me. The way she stood there without her usual armor. I took a step closer. Then another. She didn’t move away. My hand rose slowly. I brushed a strand of hair away from her face. My fingers rested lightly against her cheek. Her skin was warm. Her eyes lifted to mine. I leaned in. Our faces were close. I could feel her soft breath. My heart was beating harder than it should. I wanted to kiss her. Not the rough, claiming kisses we always shared. This was something slower. Something more. Just before my lips touched hers, my phone rang. The sharp sound cut through the quiet like a knife. I closed my eyes for a second, my jaw tightening. Then I pulled back and took the phone from my pocket. Nathan’s name was on the screen. I answered, still looking at Serena. “Yes?” Nathan’s voice came through, serious and urgent. “Sir. We found something. You need to see this.” I stayed silent for a moment, the tension still hanging in the air between us. Serena watched me, her expression unreadable. I lowered the phone slightly and met her eyes. Something had started between us this morning. And something dangerous was about to interrupt it.CHAPTER THIRTEEN: SOMETHING SOFTCASPIAN'S POVI stayed with her.I didn’t plan to. CHAPTER TWELVE: IF YOU LET MESERENA'S POVCaspian’s voice was low and steady as he sat me on his lap.“Why are you scared? What's wrong?” He asked, his eyes softening.“I can protect you from anything, Serena. If you let me.” he added. The words made my chest tighten. I kept my eyes down. I didn’t know how to answer. Protect me from what? From the woman who kept pushing me to look into you? From the messages? From the truth about that night? Or from himself?“What are you scared of?” he asked again.I still didn’t answer. I looked down at my hands. My fingers were slightly trembling. My heart was beating too fast. I could feel his eyes on me, waiting. Waiting for me to give me an answer. He put two fingers under my chin and gently lifted my face. I had no choice but to look at him. My eyes were watery. I could feel the tears trying to form, but I held them back. I couldn't cry. Not in front of him.His voice softened. “What’s wrong?”I opened my mouth. “I…i…”Before I could say anyth
CHAPTER ELEVEN: I’M SCAREDSERENA'S POV“What?” I whispered, my voice barely coming out.Caspian’s hands came around from behind me and settled on my breasts. He squeezed them firmly through the thin fabric of my dress. The pressure made me gasp. In the full-length mirror in front of us, our eyes met. His grey eyes stared straight into mine like he could see every secret I was trying to hide. It felt like he was looking into my soul. My heart raced so fast I could hear it in my ears.He started undressing me slowly while still staring at me in the mirror. His fingers found the zipper at the back of my dress and pulled it down. The sound was quiet but it made my skin tingle. The fabric loosened and slipped off my shoulders. He pushed it lower until it hung around my waist. My strapless bra was the only thing covering my chest now. His hands went back to my breasts, squeezing and kneading them with slow, deliberate pressure. My nipples hardened under his touch. Then his hands moved down
CHAPTER TEN: I’M SO FUCKEDSERENA'S POVI’m so fucked. That was the only thought running through my head as I stood in the doorway of the bedroom, my heart was beating so fast I thought it might burst out of my chest. I had just snatched the phone from Caspian’s hand like a crazy person. His eyes were locked on me, dark and suspicious. My palms were sweating. I could still feel the way he had looked at the screen with the name glowing on it.Did he see the name? Was he going to ask? I'm totally screwed.I was scared. Really scared.“I’m sorry,” I said quickly, trying to find an excuse. “I panicked.”Caspian didn’t buy it. He kept looking at me. His voice was calm but cold. “And why are you panicking?”I forced a smile that felt fake even to me. “You know I’m excited about Lucas’s treatment. That’s why. I just… got nervous.”Caspian gave me one more long look. He didn’t push it. He just picked up the documents from the bed and walked past me toward the study. The door closed behind him
CHAPTER NINE: RARE SMILES AND DANGEROUS THOUGHT CASPIAN'S POVI opened the front door and stopped immediately. My aunt Helena, stood on the other side. She looked shocked when she saw me. Her eyes widened for a second before she controlled her face again.“So you actually came home,” she said, sounding shocked. But her voice was still cold, like always. “Aunt Helena.” I stepped aside and let her in. She walked into the house and looked around. Then she saw Serena sitting at the kitchen island, still eating the lunch I had made. Helena glanced at her. She didn’t say anything. She just nodded once. Then she turned back to me.“There was a board meeting today,” she said. “And you missed it. You didn’t pick your calls. Then I remembered I had left my phone upstairs.”She continued speaking while she held a folder in her hand. “I came to give you the documents myself.”Helena glanced at Serena again. The look was short and sharp. Then she turned and handed the documents to me. Gave me a
CHAPTER EIGHT: ANGEL AND DEVILSERENA'S POVI stepped into the warm water. It felt good on my skin. Caspian pulled me down so I was sitting between his legs. My back rested against his hard chest. His arms wrapped around me. One hand rested on my stomach. The other lay on my thigh. I could feel how hard he was against my lower back. But he didn’t move to take me. Not yet.We sat there in the warm water. Steam rising around us. Caspian’s hand moved slowly on my skin. Up and down my thigh. Over my stomach. He kissed the side of my neck. Soft at first. Then harder. His teeth grazing my skin.“Tell me what you were really doing in my study, Serena,” he whispered against my ear.I closed my eyes. My body was reacting to his touch. My nipples were hard. Heat was building between my legs.“I told you,” I said quietly. “Research.”Caspian chuckled softly. His hand moved higher on my thigh. Closer to where I was already wet.“You’re still lying to me.”His fingers brushed between my legs. Teas
