LOGINChapter 6~
KIMBERLY'S POV š š~ It was a new day at work, my second day, and I decided I was going to try to talk to more people today. Perhaps my first impression wasnāt that memorable. Iād try to make my second impression much more memorable. I came to work as early as I could, arriving before a lot of my coworkers. That was a good start. I was seated at my desk, studying the work that was sent to my computer, apparently by Mr. Williams. He must still be testing my proficiency, and Iād prove to him that I deserved this job. I worked on the assignments given to me happily and finished up in no time. I took it back to the boss and he approved it. But of course he handed me even more assignments to complete. I took them happily as well. On my way back to my desk, I saw some of the girls from yesterday. Beatrice. The one who tried to be mean. "Hi! Good morning," I said to her and her friends. "Hi," she answered reluctantly and focused on her friends again. I smiled to myself and continued to my desk. "Why try to talk to her?" Ashley asked once I sat down. "Hmm?" I didnāt expect the question. "Beatrice. You know she doesnāt like you, right? Just avoid her," Ashley said, and I smiled. "Thanks. But I donāt care whether she likes me or not. Iām not against anyone here," I said. "Cute. But Iām just looking out for you. This place isnāt as nice as you think it is. Everyone here looks out for themselves. Youāre new here, so just be careful," she said, and I nodded. "Iām always careful," I said and chuckled. "Wow, the new employee seems cool. Letās be friends," one of the guys beside my desk said to me. "Oh please, Jasper. Face your work," Ashley said to him. "Never mind Ashley, my dear. Iām Jasper, and you are?" he asked me. "Kimberly, but my friends call me Kim," I said and shook his hand formally. "Nice to have you here with us, Kim," he said and smiled brightly. "Thanks," I replied, happy to have made a new friend. "Okay, but seriously, Iād listen to Ashley about staying away from Beatrice and her kind. That girl can be seriously nasty," Jasper said to me. "I think Iāve encountered girls like that most of the time in my life. Itās best to just not let them get under your skin. If they shower you with hate, you shower them with kindness. Itāll get them confused," I said. "Nice. Good luck with that," Ashley said and laughed. "Honey, youāll only burn yourself out if you do that here," Jasper said. "Well, it has always worked for me," I said, and they both nodded with smiles on their faces. We focused back on our work, and chatted every once in a while. I also asked them about some things I didnāt understand well in the assignment that was given to me, and they were happy to offer help. Once it was 1 p.m., everyone went out for lunch break. I left with Ashley and Jasper to the cafeteria. Took a tray full of delicious-looking food and followed them to their table of choice. I was halfway through my food when I was called out of the cafeteria by one of the security men. Apparently the boss had requested he come here and fetch me. "Excuse me? You mean me?" I asked the man to be sure. "Yes. Are you not Miss Kimberly Gilbert?" he asked. "I am," I replied, still nervous. I looked at Ashley, and she looked just as surprised as I was. Jasper had a shocked look planted across his face. "Okay," I stood up and followed him. I followed the man closely as we made our way out of the cafeteria. Once we were out, we entered the elevator going up to the top floor. I donāt know why I was feeling so nervous. What did I do? I donāt recall doing anything wrong. Itās just my second day here. Once the elevator opened, the man stepped out and I followed him. He asked me to wait near the coffee machine stand, that heād get back to me. I went over to the coffee machine stand and sat down at one of the waiting chairs there. Everything about this place seemed so sophisticated and beautiful. The whole company structure was beautiful. I waited and waited, till someone sat on one of the chairs there, a few seats away from me. I turned to look at the person and was surprised to see the handsome elevator guy from yesterday. He rested his head on the chair with his eyes closed. He seemed tired. He must be working too hard. I watched him attentively, admiring his features. He sat there quietly with closed eyes. I wondered what his job was around here. This is the third time Iām seeing him now. He suddenly got up from his seat and went toward the coffee machine to get a cup of coffee. He barely noticed me sitting there and just did his thing without looking my way. I watched as he got a cup of coffee and drank it all in one go without pausing. He trashed the paper cup in the bin and sat back down. This time, five seats closer to where I was sitting. "Hi," he said to me. I was surprised he had talked to me. "Um⦠hi," I replied and faced forward again. "You must be new here," he said. He had a nice deep voice. "Yeah. I am. Just started yesterday," I said awkwardly. He simply nodded at me. "Do you⦠um⦠work here too?" I summoned the courage to ask him. He looked at me for a few seconds before responding. "Yes. I work here too," he replied simply, and I nodded. "Good to know," I stated. This is so awkward for no reason. Probably because he was too good-looking and had this commanding presence. "So, howās your boss like? I was told he was asking for me. Iām hoping Iām not in any sort of trouble or anything," I said to him, trying to make conversation and fill the silence. "Why, did you do something that would get you in trouble?" he asked me with a bit of amusement in his tone. "No. Of course not. Todayās just my second day here. Itās too soon to get in trouble," I said to him. "Then you have nothing to worry about," he said. "So howās he like, the boss?" I asked again. He paused for a while before replying. "Iām sure youāll find out as time goes by," he said and closed his eyes again. I think thatās a hint he doesnāt want to talk anymore, so I just kept quiet. We both sat in silence for minutes. He suddenly stood up from his seat and faced me. "I should take my leave now, Miss Kimberly. Congratulations on getting the job, and good luck to you on your stay here. I hope to see you some other time," he said and left. I watched him as he disappeared from my sight completely. I sat there in confusion, thinking. I never told him my name, so how did he know? The security man from earlier came to meet me where I was sitting. "Iām sorry, miss, but the boss is occupied with some other thing. He said you can go back to your department and sorry for the disruption from your lunch," he said, and I nodded. Thank God. At least Iām not in trouble. "Okay, sir. Thank you," I said to him and made my way back to the elevator. I kept thinking about my encounter with Mr. Handsome. How did he know my name? Is he psychic or something? ~ "So, what did he say to you?" Ashley asked me when we got back to the office. Jasper was also interested in knowing what happened. "Nothing. Because I didnāt see him, the boss. Apparently he was too busy to even meet with me, so I was dismissed by security," I said to them. "Hmm. Thatās weird," Jasper said. "Yeah, I found it weird too," I stated as well. "So, can you guys tell me what the boss is actually like? Iām curious," I asked them. "Two words. Devilishly handsome. I wish I looked like him," Jasper said to me. I chuckled slightly. "Youāre exaggerating," I said to him. "Sadly, he isnāt. Our boss Zachary Maxwell is so good-looking and super wealthy at such a young age. Oh, if only I could get him to notice me, Iād throw myself at him all the time," Ashley said and gushed. "Wow. Now Iām even more curious to meet him," I said to them. "Yeah. Trust me, every girl in here is hoping to have a one-on-one conversation with him at least once, or get close to him in any way, but heās so out of our reach and way out of our league," she said and pouted her lips. "Youāre all not only out of his league, but also none of you girls here are pretty enough to catch his attention. Which is why I was shocked when he asked for Kim during lunch break. Which is understandable, because youāre so pretty, new, and fresh," Jasper said. "No, no, no. Please donāt say that. Honestly, everyone here is so pretty and handsome, itās kinda intimidating to be here with all of you guys, to be honest," I said to them. I didnāt like being praised that way. "Aww, youāre so modest. Thank you, love," Jasper said to me and smiled. "Thanks," Ashley said and grinned sheepishly. ~ Once it was time to go home, everyone packed up and left the office. I left with Ashley and Jasper to the parking lot. They offered me a ride, but I politely declined. Thankfully, I quickly got a taxi that took me to the bus station. ~~ Once I got home, I freshened up, ate dinner, and got ready for bed. I arranged my clothes for work for the next day in my wardrobe and slid into bed. My mind processed everything that happened today but was stuck on one particular scene. 'I should take my leave now, Miss Kimberly.' Hmm. I wonder how he knew my name? ~~KIMBERLY'S POVZachary and I went straight to the airport after the wedding reception. His parents had given us a Three weeks luxury tickets to a luxurious hotel in Bora Bora for Our honeymoon as wedding gifts. We flew out of the country with the private jet cause we had some security with us.I have never been in a private jet before, I didn't know it was so huge. All the seats were spacious and comfortable, and had everything you'll need to relax and chill. There was even a private room in the jet."Wow. There's even a room." I muttered under my breath."What did you say love?" Zachary asked me. "Nothing. Just tired." I said to him."Do you want to lie down for while? Or would you like to eat first?" He asked me."Umm, I think I'll sleep first." I said, yawning."Okay love. I'll leave you to rest awhile, I'll be back." He said and kissed my forehead before leaving the room for me.I looked around the room, touching everything there is to be touched before launching myself on the
ZACHARY'S POVAs my security team and I worked to secure the area and identify the shooter, I couldn't help but think about the potential consequences of this incident. Who could have done this? And what did they want? We've already apprehended Christian And Ashley, who else could do this?I knew I had to get to the bottom of this, not just for my own safety, but for Kimberly's as well. I couldn't let anyone threaten the people I loved."Let's review the footage and see if we can identify the shooter," I said to my team. "I want to know who did this?"As we were watching the footage, my team informed me that the culprit has been caught and I was glad.We interrogated the culprit but he denyed that he was working with someone, he kept insisting that he was working alone. I didn't know him and I'm sure he didn't know Kim, so someone must be behind him and he's trying to hide it from me."Okay. If you insist on not speaking the truth, I guess I have nothing more to do with you anymore.
~ZACHARY'S POV ~As the days went by, we were so close to our wedding day. I couldn't believe In two days time, I'll be getting married to Kimberly Gilbert. Hmm, Kimberly Maxwell. I like how it sounds. Kimberly and I were scrolling through our guest lists, and checking our events for the main day."That's alot of events. We're gonna be so dead weight after the wedding, look at all the things we have to do! Your cousin and Serena are both crazy!" Kimberly whined. My cousin, Rebecca and, Kim's friend, Serena, took it upon themselves to plan our wedding together with the wedding planners. "Yeah. They really make the best of friends." I commented. "Ahh, Rena has only one best friend, which is me. And No one else. It's just unfortunate she has a lot of things in common with Rebecca." She said and pouted. I chuckled slightly. "Why are you so cute?" I asked her and pulled her in for a kiss. Kimberly's POVAs we finalized the wedding plans, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions.
Zachary's POVI felt a searing pain in my stomach as the bullet ripped through my flesh. I gritted my teeth, determined not to show any weakness in front of Kimberly. As my team rushed to my side, I knew I had to stay conscious. I couldn't let Christian win, not now that I'd finally gotten Kimberly back."Kimberly... hold me please," I whispered, my voice weak.Kimberly's hands wrapped around mine, holding me tightly. I felt a surge of love and gratitude towards her.KIMBERLY'S POVI held Zachary's hand, tears streaming down my face. I'd just gotten him back, and now he was hurt because of me.The van sped towards the hospital, and I prayed that we'd make it in time. I couldn't lose Zachary, not now that we'd finally found each other. As we arrived at the hospital, the doctors rushed to attend to Zachary. I waited anxiously, my heart racing with fear.ZACHARY'S POVThe doctors worked tirelessly to stabilize me. I knew I'd lost a lot of blood, but I was determined to pull through.Kimb
~ZACHARY'S POV ~My team worked tirelessly, tracking down Ashley's location. She was moving around a lot, as if trying to evade someone. Me.I knew she was leaving something out, and she wasn't being completely honest and of course I couldn't just let her live like that just by having her words for it. I've learnt my lesson. Trusting Christian just because he said to trust him was the biggest mistake I made. The coffee Ashley drank had something in it. Something to help her sleep as we inserted the tracking device around her necklace without her knowing.I intend to find out everything she knows and know everywhere she goes until Kimberly is found. Finally, after hours of searching, my men pinpointed Ashley's final location. We moved out just as quickly. As we approached the location, we found out it was a secluded area with zero other houses on sight. My heart pounded with anticipation. I knew Kimberly was close, I could feel it in my bones, and I was determined to rescue her.We
ZACHARY'S POVMy eyes bore into Ashley's as i leaned in, my voice firm but controlled. "Ashley, we know you're involved in Kimberly's disappearance. It's time to tell the truth."Ashley shifted uncomfortably, her eyes darting around the room. "I don't know what you're talking about," she stammered. My expression remained calm, but my eyes flashed with determination. "Don't play dumb, Ashley. We have evidence. Tell us where Kimberly is now while I'm still being nice."Ashley's resolve began to crumble under my intense gaze. She glanced around the room, searching for an escape, but found none. "Okay, fine," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll tell you what I know. But you have to promise to protect me."My expression softened slightly. "We'll do what we can. Now, tell us."Ashley took a deep breath. "Christian Norman is behind Kimberly's disappearance. He's been planning this for months. And...and....... and I helped him."My eyes widened. "Tell me, Where is Kimberly?"Dam
