Cleopatra's POV

Every young girl grows up dreaming about her perfect wedding day, envisioning the magic of the moment she walks down the aisle. My own dreams had always been remarkably simple, far removed from grand castles or noble princes. I only ever wanted the honest promise that someone would choose me above all others and commit to building a life together.

As the wooden doors of the church closed behind me, shutting out the bustling noise of the city, I tightened my fingers around my bouquet of ivory roses and inhaled slowly to quiet my racing heart.

My younger sister, Diana, stood close beside me in the hallway, blinking back tears of joy as she adjusted my lace veil one last time. She smoothed the fabric with gentle hands, her eyes filled with warmth.

"You look absolutely beautiful today, Cleo," Diana whispered, wiping her cheek.

"You've said that five times since we got here," I laughed softly, trying not to ruin my makeup.

"I only say it so often because it's the truth," she insisted, adjusting a tiny pearl hairpin.

Outside the closed doors, the string quartet began playing the opening notes of Canon in D. That was my cue.

The wedding coordinator offered a reassuring smile and gave me a gentle nod.

"Are you ready to take the first step toward your new life?" she asked softly.

I hesitated for a fraction of a second, my mind racing with thoughts of Chris waiting at the altar. He was the man who had patiently held my hand through late-night planning sessions and promised me a future. He was the man I believed I knew better than anyone else in the world.

"I have never been more ready," I replied.

The doors swung open, and three hundred guests rose in unison from the polished wooden pews.

Sunlight poured through the towering stained-glass windows, scattering patterns of gold across the floor.

My father should have been standing beside me to walk me down the aisle. Instead, a framed photograph of his smiling face rested in the front pew where my family sat. He had passed away two years earlier, leaving a void that would never truly be filled.

I whispered a silent prayer, hoping he was watching over me, before Diana squeezed my hand tightly one last time.

"You've got this," she murmured, stepping forward to lead the way.

I took one slow step after another, feeling as though the long aisle had stretched into an impossible distance. I barely noticed the elaborate floral arrangements I had spent six months designing.

The whispered compliments of the guests floated through the air, but my focus was locked entirely on the man at the end of the aisle.

Chris Cross stood beside the priest in a tailored black tuxedo, looking at me with an expression of pure adoration. As our eyes met across the sanctuary, he mouthed three words: I love you.

A surge of pure happiness washed over me. I mouthed the words right back to him as I reached the altar step.

The priest welcomed our gathered friends and family before beginning the ceremony. His resonant voice carried through the sanctuary as he spoke about trust, commitment, and mutual respect.

I smiled to myself, entirely unaware of how deeply ironic those words would soon become.

Minutes passed in a blur of vows and shared promises. Finally, the priest closed his leather-bound book and looked out at the congregation.

"If anyone present knows of any lawful reason why these two should not be joined in holy matrimony, let them speak now, or forever hold their peace."

Total silence settled over the room as I prepared myself for the final blessing.

Suddenly, the silence was shattered as the church doors slammed open so violently that they struck the stone walls with a deafening crash. The sound reverberated through the sanctuary, causing every guest to turn in shock.

My heart came to a sudden halt as a tall, handsome man entered the back of the church. He had dark hair and cold gray eyes that carried an undeniable authority. He walked down the aisle at a slow pace, as if the entire building belonged to him.

The stranger kept his gaze fixed entirely on Chris. A palpable sense of hatred radiated from his every step as he stopped just a few feet from where we stood.

I turned to look at Chris and felt my stomach drop. His smile was gone, and all the color had drained from his face. He was trembling.

"No... this is impossible," Chris whispered, his voice cracking.

"You should have run while you still had the chance," the man said. His voice was freezing, cutting through the silence like a blade.

The priest stepped forward with a deep frown, attempting to restore order. "Sir, this is a private ceremony! You must leave immediately."

The man turned his cold eyes to the priest and shook his head. "It stopped being private the moment a criminal stood at your altar."

Shocked gasps erupted from the guests. My fingers tightened around my bouquet until my knuckles turned white. Chris tried to force a laugh, though his voice shook with terror.

"I don't know who you think you are, but you're insane!" Chris yelled.

The stranger didn't bother to argue. Instead, he slowly opened a leather folder he held in his hand.

"My name is Desmond Walton," he announced clearly to the entire room. He pulled a glossy photograph from the folder and looked directly at Chris. "And I happen to be the man you have been stealing from for the past three years."

Chris’s breathing became shallow and uneven. "You're lying!"

Desmond ignored the outburst and turned his attention to me for the very first time. There was no triumph in his gray eyes, nor was there any pity. Just a grim certainty.

"I'm sorry you have to learn this today," he said quietly.

He extended his hand and offered me the photograph. My hands shook violently as I took it from him.

The bouquet of white roses slipped from my fingers, the petals scattering across the floor as I gasped in horror.

The photo showed another woman wrapped tightly in Chris’s arms as they shared an intimate kiss. She was a breathtaking blonde, and they both looked blissfully happy. The date printed in the corner indicated it was taken just last month, a week after Chris and I had mailed out our wedding invitations.

"No... this isn't real," I whispered, shaking my head.

"It is," Desmond confirmed softly.

Chris lunged forward in a panic, trying to grab the paper from my hands. "Cleopatra, don't look at that!"

Desmond stepped between us effortlessly, using his broad frame to block Chris. He pulled another set of documents from his folder and pressed a button on a remote.

The presentation screen behind the altar suddenly illuminated, displaying financial documents detailing millions of dollars transferred through fake invoices. Every single document bore Chris’s signature.

"He's fabricating everything!" Chris screamed to the crowd. "He's trying to ruin my life!"

Desmond pressed another button, and a second photo appeared on the screen. It showed Chris outside a luxury hotel, embracing the same blonde woman. This time, she was wearing a massive diamond ring on her left hand.

My chest tightened so much I could barely breathe. I looked at Chris, my voice cracking. "Who is she?"

"Her name is Victoria Kessel," Desmond answered for him. "She is also the woman Chris has promised to marry."

The church erupted into absolute chaos. Guests began shouting in stunned disbelief.

My knees felt weak as I stared at the man I had trusted with my life. "Chris... Please tell me this isn't true," I begged.

"I can explain, Cleo—" Chris stammered.

"You've explained with twelve million dollars in stolen funds," Desmond interrupted smoothly. "And by using Miss Sander's personal accounts to launder part of the transactions."

My head whipped toward Chris in pure horror. "My accounts?"

Before Chris could answer, the church doors opened once more. Federal investigators wearing dark jackets swept into the sanctuary, heading straight for the altar.

"Chris Cross, you are under arrest for financial fraud, embezzlement, and money laundering," an agent announced, producing a warrant.

Chris panicked and tried to bolt, knocking over floral arrangements as guests screamed prompting the security guards to run after him down the aisle.

Outside, camera flashes exploded against the stained-glass windows as news reporters gathered.

My wedding, my future, and my entire life had been ruined in a matter of minutes.

The room began to spin violently. My vision narrowed down to the only person standing still beside me.

Desmond Walton stared back at me, and for a fraction of a second, I thought I saw genuine regret in his cold eyes.

Then, I felt myself falling toward the hard floor, but before I hit the marble, a pair of strong arms caught me.

"Call an ambulance!" Desmond's deep voice commanded.

That was the last thing I heard before everything went completely black.

  • The Billionaire Who Ruined My Wedding   Quiet Resolve

Cleopatra’s POVThe morning after the gala, I made myself a firm promise: whatever had happened between Desmond and me on that hotel terrace would remain exactly where it belonged.I repeated those words like a mantra while getting dressed, whispered them again while brushing my hair, and said them one last time as I stepped into the elevator at Walton Global. Unfortunately, my heart refused to cooperate with my resolve. The moment the elevator doors slid open onto the executive floor, my eyes landed on him immediately.Desmond stood beside Claire’s desk, reviewing a document on his tablet. His black suit was well pressed, and his facial expression was completely controlled, looking to anyone else exactly as he always did.But I knew better now. I knew the feel of his hands against my skin, the warmth in his voice when he confessed he was losing his mind over me, and the exact taste of his lips against mine.I quickly looked away, keeping my voice cool. "Good morning, Mr. Walton."His

  • The Billionaire Who Ruined My Wedding   The First Kiss

Cleopatra’s POVThe gala finally wound down shortly after midnight. As the remaining guests began filter out and the ballroom music faded, I slipped away through the side doors before anyone could stop me. I needed fresh air to clear my head. The hotel's upper terrace was deserted. A brief rain shower had passed over earlier, leaving the stone floor slick and dark beneath the city lights. The skyline stretched out beyond the glass railing, its reflection shimmering in Puddles like broken glass. I stepped out to the edge, closing my eyes as the cool night breeze hit my skin. For the first time all evening, the tight knot in my chest loosened."Running away?"I opened my eyes, not at all surprised to find Desmond standing a few paces behind me. I let out a quiet breath. "Do you ever stop following me around?""Not when you look this stressed," he said, walking up to the railing beside me."I’m not stressed.""You’re a terrible liar, Cleopatra."I turned to face him fully. "Tonight was e

  • The Billionaire Who Ruined My Wedding   The Gala Trap

Cleopatra’s POVTonight the company was organizing its annual gala. I had changed my mind about attending the gala at least six times. The dress was the primary issue: a striking sapphire gown that made me feel exposed. While the front was elegant and tailored, the back descended into an open cut that left my shoulders and most of my spine completely bare.I stared at my reflection in the mirror, leaning against the vanity with a sigh. "This is ridiculous," I whispered to the empty room.My phone buzzed against the marble counter with a message from Desmond: The gala is about to start.I frowned down at the screen, typing back immediately. I will be right there. His response arrived seconds later: can't wait to see you.I stared at his answer longer than necessary before finally slipping the phone into my clutch. When I stepped into the Walton Global lobby, Desmond was already waiting near the entrance. His black tuxedo was impeccably tailored, and his expression maintained its usual

  • The Billionaire Who Ruined My Wedding   Sleeping Beauty

Desmond’s POVIt was eight forty-seven in the evening when I finally noticed the light pouring out from beneath Cleopatra’s office door. I had already sent most of the workers home, leaving the building almost entirely silent.I walked toward her office expecting to find her reviewing the next day’s schedule, but instead, I found her fast asleep. She was slouched behind her desk with her arms folded over a stack of financial reports, her laptop still open with a spreadsheet filling the screen, and her glasses slipping slightly down the bridge of her nose. For several seconds, I simply stood in the doorway watching her. She looked entirely different while sleeping: younger, softer, and stripped of the sharp responses and guarded expressions she routinely wore around me. She looked like the woman from the photograph I had seen right before the wedding, the innocent woman who had walked into a church expecting to marry the man she loved, only to be dragged into my corporate war.I steppe

Cleopatra’s POVBy six thirty the following evening, I was standing in front of my bedroom mirror wondering why I had agreed to attend dinner at the Walton family estate. The black dress Grace had insisted I borrow fit perfectly, but that only made me more uncomfortable. I wasn’t supposed to look like I belonged in Desmond Walton’s world; I was supposed to look like his employee. Unfortunately, the dress made that distinction difficult. My phone vibrated on the vanity. A message from Desmond appeared on the screen: I'm at your door.I stared at it before typing a quick response: hold on, I'm almost ready.I frowned, but before I could send, the doorbell rang downstairs.Ten minutes later, I was sitting inside Desmond’s black sedan, watching Silvercrest disappear behind tinted windows."You could have warned me about the dress code," I said, breaking the silence.Desmond glanced at me from his seat. • The Billionaire Who Ruined My Wedding   Intimate Audit

Desmond’s POVThe city always looked different from sixty floors above Silvercrest. Everything below appeared small enough to manage: people became moving dots, traffic became neat lines of light, and complex problems turned into predictable numbers on spreadsheets. That was how I preferred the world, simple, measurable, and controlled.Yet Cleopatra Sander had managed to shatter that illusion within a single week. After the incident, she had agreed to help me investigate the crimes she was accused of.Sitting across from me in my private office, she was surrounded by stacks of financial reports, encrypted ledgers, and three open laptops. "You missed something," she said suddenly, pulling me from my thoughts.I looked up from my screen, frowning. "What did I miss?"She pointed toward a transaction report on her screen. "This transfer right here. You saw the amount, but you completely missed the timing. The payment was made at 2:14 a.m., exactly three minutes after an internal security
