Chapter 52 – Mood Swings

“It’s only for today. Enjoy it.” His reply made her grin. She expected as much.

The beach was situated at the back of the mansion and he took her out through the back door. Welp. She was greeted by a few tall trees and green shrubbery lining the pathway.

“Am I not heavy?”

“I think I can carry two of you.”

“Huh, but you’re already carrying two of us.” She winked at him and it took him a moment to process her words. Ah, yes. He chuckled as he reached a pool bed near the shore. What are they called? Sun lounger? He set her down and sat on another one.

Mel quickly set her feet on the sand and wiggled them.

“Can I go on the water?”

“Go ahead. It shouldn’t be cold yet.”

He took her hand and went with her.

“Oh, it’s still a little warm.” They went in until the waters reached above her knees.

“Can I swim?” She moved to remove her coat.

“Are you dumb? You’re not wearing underwear.”

“What? There’s only water here. Are you expecting a fish to approach me?”
