Chapter Forty Seven

In my formative years, my father instilled in me the value of persistence and not surrendering easily in pursuit of my desires. I had to exhibit tenacity, even resorting to unconventional means if possible, until I could attain the desired goal. Regrettably, had I heeded his advice a decade ago, I might not have found myself currently struggling to regain my wife's forgiveness and affection a decade later.

But in order to earn her forgiveness and affection, I decided to bring her closer by agreeing to prepare dinner tonight and challenging her to a bet. If I win this round, I already know what I would ask her to do – a task that wouldn't be easy for her, but she'd have no choice but to fulfill it.

"Dinner's served." I called out to them.

"Yay!" My kids ran into the dining room ahead of their mother who decided to take her sweet time getting here.

"This smells amazing, daddy." Maya commented.

"Thank you, sweetheart." I smiled at her, pulling out a chair for her and her siblings
