Yvette's attempt to entangle my husband once more with her manipulative tactics was something I should have anticipated. She likely counted on Adrien's lingering animosity towards me from years ago, believing it would play to her advantage.

However, she was unaware that we had moved beyond those issues. I married him on my terms, and he understood that I held the authority to conclude our marriage this time, and he was willing to comply with my decisions.

Unlike the previous marriage, which was prompted by my mother's illness, that wasn't the case this time. If I choose to divorce Adrien, I have nothing to lose, and he might be the one pleading for me to stay. What a delightful twist of fate this has become—a true irony.

"Rose, honey, it's not what you think." Adrien assured me.

"And what do you think I'm thinking about?" I inquired, curious. "We'd only have a problem if you were doing more than talking to her before we arrived. You were just catching up on old times, right?"
