~Nella~

“Oh no! I’—I’m so sorry—, I said looking confused on what to do but before I could even say anything else I was shut with a heavy slap from Eva, Roy’s fiancée.

“I’m so sorry, Miss Eva. I’ll have your dress dry-cleaned and sent to you immediately,” I stammered.

My voice was fragile as I fought to hold back the tears threatening to spill over. But before I could say another word, Eva’s hand struck my face again, the sound of her slap sharp and unforgiving.

“How dare you! You disgusting, blind secretary!” she spat, her voice dripping with venom.

“I’m so sorry ma’am,” I managed, my voice barely above a whisper. “I’ll take care of it. I promise.”

My words were barely audible, weighed down by the sting of the slap, the humiliation.

But the agony deepened when Roy’s voice joined in, harsh and bitter.

~Nella~Where Am I?A dull ache throbbed at the base of my skull as consciousness crept back in. My limbs felt heavy, like I’d been buried under sand. My mouth was dry, and a bitter taste lingered on my tongue. I blinked slowly, willing my vision to focus—but all I saw were unfamiliar shadows dancing on cold grey walls.I sat up with effort, a low groan escaping my lips. The room was dimly lit, the only source of light seeping through narrow, barred windows near the ceiling. Panic didn’t hit me all at once—it arrived slowly, growing with every heartbeat, curling cold fingers around my throat.Where am I?The last thing I remembered was stepping out to take the trash… and then that van. That smell. That hand.I stumbled to my feet, swaying slightly as the blood rushed to my head. The floor was hard concrete, and the air held a sharp sting—sterile, like bleach and silence. I rushed to the windows, peering out in vain. There were no buildings, no street signs—just endless trees and fadin

~Nella~I didn’t wait a single second. I stormed out of the store and quickened my pace toward the house, my heels striking the pavement with purpose.“Nella!” Sam called behind me, but I didn’t stop. I had no intention of listening to him—not anymore. He didn’t give up. Instead, he ran up and blocked my path.“We need to talk,” he said, panting slightly.“We don’t have anything to talk about, Sam. Just leave me alone,” I snapped, my voice laced with fury.“I’m sorry…”“I don’t care. That’s in the past—you’re in the past. Move on.”“Then at least tell me what’s going on with you online. I saw some things—”“That’s none of your business,” I hissed, trying to shove past him, but he stood his ground.“I could help. You know I’m good with tech, Nella. Just let me help.”I stopped cold, staring at him like he’d lost his mind. “Oh, now you remember you’re good with tech? Funny how those ‘skills’ never helped us while I was struggling to get things together.”“Nella… baby, please. I’m sorry

This is bad for Elevé.”Her words tightened around my chest like a noose.“What’s going on, Nella?” she asked, worried.“I don’t know… I—I’m not sure what to do.” My voice cracked. ~Nella~He pulled his car to a safe spot on the roadside and stared at me for a while, his hands still on the steering wheel.“Nella,” he began, voice low and nervous, “I know this might not be the right place, the right time, or even the right moment, but… I fear losing you every single day. I fear you might walk away someday. But I’ve already fallen too deep, and I don’t even want to be helped out.”He paused. The car grew quiet. And there I was—sitting in silence, goosebumps rising along my arms—not because of fear, but because every word he said felt painfully, beautifully real. I felt it too. I felt him.“I know you might not be ready for all this,” he continued, “but let me hold your hand and walk you through it—gently. Let me take the lead and protect you. Let me be your calm… your peace. Please… Princess.”My heart fluttered. But I was damn ready for all of this. “What do you want, Roy?” I asked softly.“Be my world. Be the reason I fight. Be mine—and let me be your man,” he

~Nella~“If there’s anything she wants to share, she will,” Roy said, his tone firm. “If she’s not talking about it, it’s because she doesn’t feel like it.”“It’s fine,” I whispered, gently pressing my hand against his under the table, trying to calm him.“No, it’s not,” he replied, not backing down. “You don’t have to do anything you’re uncomfortable with.”My heart started to race. The tension in the room was unbearable, and I could feel my chest tightening.“Watch how you speak to me, young man,” Mr. Wilson snapped, clearly offended. “If you plan on leaving Eva for her, then we deserve to know everything about this girl.”Roy opened his mouth to respond, but Mrs. Sarah cut in with a gentler tone.“Let her speak, Roy. I do think it’s important to know a bit about her family. Just so you’re not walking into something blindly.”I glanced at Roy and gave a small nod, silently asking him to let it go. He sighed and leaned back.“So,” Mr. Wilson said, leaning forward. “Go ahead. Tell us

~Nella~I wasn’t sure what Ashley wanted to talk about, but the look on her face said it all—serious, unreadable. And the fact that she’d come all the way to my place, even though we hadn’t spoken in weeks, told me whatever it was… it mattered.“You want to sit?” I asked gently.“Sure,” she murmured, moving to sit on the edge of my bed.I sat beside her, watching her closely. “What’s going on?”She was quiet for a while, staring at me—really staring—like she was searching for something in my eyes. Then she looked down and started biting her nails.“You can talk to me, Ash. I’m still me. You’re still you. Nothing’s changed,” I said softly. She looked up. “You’re sure?”“Yeah,” I nodded. “I’m sure.”Then her face crumpled, and the tears came rushing out. “I miss you… I miss us, Nella. And I’m so sorry. I was irrational about everything. I should’ve stayed calm and listened to you. Maybe things wouldn’t have gotten so messed up.”Tears welled in my own eyes as I pulled her into a tight h
