Don Antonio Bonasera was born in Venice, Italy. He worked for one of the most powerful Italian families; the Corleone’s.  He had been their hitman, bodyguard and driver sworn to protect them in loyalty to his boss. He had a look that was primordial, striking and intimidating in his appearance: tall and broad shouldered, avuncular with a wide nose, blood-red eyes and a rough skin. He resembled the mugshots of killers in cold blood on crime TV documentaries. If one examined closely, the blood of his enemies were crusted deep in his fingernails.

When Don Corleone died, he got a good share of his will and relocated to the US to start his own business. Sin city was an initiate of his evil mind.

Once, the Don had told him his greatest wish was to avenge the Patroens by killing his first and only son.

“If all it takes to give you justice Godfather is to take out his son, then, I would as well bring his own head and wife and that of all his guards”

His loyalty was his secret to success. He had set Zara up at the airport with cocaine, pretending to have saved her in order to recruit her into sex trafficking.

Now Antonio was in a dank, uncompleted building where he had asked to be seen by Nat.

They parked their black SUVS and came out accompanied by bodyguards.

Nat offered him a handshake

“Antonio Bonasera” he said

Antonio refused to return the gesture. He refused too, a smile.

Nat smiled. Tough one. No doubt.

“What’s the 411?" Antonio  asked

“Well, I have a settlement deal for you. No doubt an interesting one, if you must know”—

He cut him briskly.

“Straight to the point fella. I have important businesses to attend to.”

“I’m more important to business than anything you might have” ?

Antonio scrunched his face.

“If not for our guards, I could have easily murdered you now now in cold blood”

“But you can’t” Nat matched his frequency with arrogance and smiled

“I can’t because I'm loyal to Italian values. We don’t act like wild animals. We settled. Or feud. And feud doesn’t happen in planned settings. We come for you in your home”

“What do you think about loyalty” ? he asked

“Loyalty is non-negotiable. I smell a rat, I fumigate”

Nat clapped his hands in a mocking gesture. He was smiling.

“If you must know, I'm here for Zara. To clear off her debts. She deserves a better life beyond the club”.

He took his time to light his cigar and then blew the smoke in his face.

“How much are you offering” ?

“She owes you 200,000 but I'd give you 500,000. I wanna buy a share at your club”

“Share”? he was irritated

“Yeah”

He laughed.

“Dannato Americano”.

He spoke Italian.

“I don’t give shares to Americans, he said.

“Why” ? he was curious

“That’s a story for another day but it is what it is”

“You can bank on my loyalty”. Nat tried persuading.

“Loyalty’s not said. It’s proven. I could give you Zara. But none of my shares”

“When will you release her? She needs to start work for me as soon as possible”.

He released an evil laughter.

“I really would have had some respect for you. But Zara. Poor taste, man. You went for the lamest of the whores”

Nat swallowed that. He was truly a crazy ass punk. He nodded and side eyed his driver who brought out a briefcase containing thousands of dollars.

Antonio smelled the money

“The only smell I ever loved outside was the cherry between a girl's thighs.

“You’d have her tonight. He said still putting the money back and closing the briefcase. Although if you re-traffic her that might be profitable”.

“No! that won’t be happening”. Nat said confidently.

“Such an idiot” He said directly to his face.

“Gustavo”! “Gustav”! he shouted his name even though he was just standing a few kilometers from him.

Gustavo brought out a bull dog.

“Here’s a present for you” Lyon gave a crooked smile.

Nat’s bodyguard headed over.

“Italians never leave one without gifts”.

He said proudly, turning back to his car.

Nat took a deep breath to calm his fear over the sight of the wild dog now barking vehemently at him and his bodyguards.

Humiliation or not, his mission had been accomplished. Though Lyon really tempted one to smack his ugly ass face, punching him hard until blood came out.

He went to his car, smiling through the drive because he could now execute his plan.

The school’s theatre hall buzzed with murmurs and the roar of polite applause. Parents leaned forward on the rows of folding chairs before the well lit stage, craning in anticipation to see the next child on stage. The program had been running for more than an hour —piano, harp, a few tentative vocal solos, even a pair of ballet dancers and a rap performance. Backstage, Johnny gripped his violin, feeling disoriented. He was next.“Don’t forget to breathe,” said Mrs. Cole, his British music teacher, “You’ve practiced beautifully, Johnny. You’ll be brilliant.”Johnny managed a nod but didn’t reply. His eyes scanned the crowd through a crack in the curtain. No trace of his father in the audience and this dampened him, sapped him of enthusiasm.Across town, Nat was nowhere near the event hall. He was in the conference room, concluding on the a deal with PrimeCore, reaching a final resolution. “We've been able to secure the old airport concession. The proposal was approved by the mayor

The room had two beds covered in white sheets. The masseur, a woman in her uniform, placed their feet in cold yoghurt. Before she did, she had asked them, a little too cheerful.“Would you like your feet soaked in plain vanilla, whipped cream or strawberry flavor?”“What do you think? he asked Zara, as he sat down in shirts and a tight T-shirt”“We’d take all three,” Zara said, overjoyed, her teeth shining white.“This…is ... .so…cool” she stammered and rolled her eyes in ecstasy while Nat just simply smiled at her. It seemed weird to him, even sordid. It was her idea, sure, but he would never on his own decide to visit any spa, not alone put his foot in yoghurt.“So this is what your kinda fun is?” he raised his glasses and peered at her from the side.“Aren’t you enjoying it?”“Yeah pretty much, a bit awkward but relaxing though” he admitted“Of course it is,” she turned to the women now, smiling brightly at both of them and raising their feet in the water.“We’d get our toes done?

The front door’s chime warned him of a guest. He opened it. A small face appeared, bright and eager.“Daddy!” Johnny cried, charging forward. He dropped to one knee. His heart was warm. He pulled the boy into a tight embrace.“My boy,” he whispered, ruffling his hair, pressing a kiss to his forehead.Johnny, dark-haired and brown-eyed, looked just like his father. His clean tapper fade, a buttoned up flannel, diamond chain on his neckband, a jean trousers and air jordan sneakers, made him look very much the cool billionaire’s kid. “How are you, my boy?” he asked.“I’m fine,” Johnny said. He paused.“Daddy… I miss you.”Nat’s chest suddenly tightened. “I know. I’m sorry I couldn’t come to your football game the other day.”“You said you would.” Johnny said.
