Margaret POV

I hadn’t slept.

The image of her—Amelia—standing in the dairy aisle with a carton of milk in her hand refused to loosen its grip on my mind. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her face again. Older. Sharper. Alive.

Impossible.

Dead people did not buy groceries on a Tuesday afternoon.

Yet my hands still trembled on the steering wheel as I pulled into the supermarket parking lot the next morning. I told myself this was ridiculous. That grief did strange things to memory. That the mind, when left too long with unanswered questions, invented ghosts to haunt itself.

But fear does not come from imagination alone.

Fear comes from recognition.

I adjusted my scarf, forcing my spine straight as I stepped out of the car. The automatic doors slid open with the same hollow whoosh as yesterday, and the sound made my stomach twist. Everything looked the same—the same bright lights, the same displays, the same mundane normalcy that mocked the chaos inside me.

  • The Billionaire’s Forgotten Bride   Chapter 120- Amelia or her lookalike

Lisa POVThe door slammed shut behind us with a finality that made my chest tighten. For a long moment, neither my mother nor I moved. We simply stood there in the dimly lit hallway, coats still on, shoes untouched, as if motion itself might shatter the fragile grip we still had on reality. My heart was racing, my ears ringing, my thoughts tangled in a single, impossible image.Amelia.Alive.Breathing.Standing in front of us like she had never been lowered into the ground. My mother, Margaret, was the first to move. She took a shaky step forward, then another, as though testing whether the floor beneath her feet was real. Her face had gone pale, the lines around her mouth deeper than I’d ever seen them. She pressed a hand to her chest, breathing slowly, deliberately, like she was afraid her heart might simply give up.“We saw her,” she whispered, more to herself than to me. “Lisa… we saw her.”I swallowed hard. My throat felt dry, raw. “I know,” I said, though the words felt unreal

  • The Billionaire’s Forgotten Bride   Chapter 119- The name that couldn’t stay buried

Amelia POVThere was a storm coming. Not the kind you could see on the horizon or smell in the air, but the kind that lived in silences, in pauses stretched too long, in conversations that ended before they truly began. I felt it every time Ethan’s jaw tightened just a fraction too much, every time his eyes lingered on nothing and everything at once. The city moved as usual—cars honking, people laughing, life continuing—but beneath it all, something was coiling, waiting.Sylvester.He wasn’t loud about his moves. That was what made him dangerous. But Ethan was quieter still, and watching him these past weeks had been like watching a chessboard where only one player understood the rules. To the outside world, it looked like Ethan was losing ground—scrutiny from the board, whispers in the media, subtle shifts in loyalty. But I lived with him. I saw the truth.I saw how he planned in the margins of the night, how he reread reports not once but three times, how he cross-checked informatio

  • The Billionaire’s Forgotten Bride   Chapter 117- Power

Sylvester POVPower has a sound. Most people think it’s loud—gunshots, shouting, chaos. They’re wrong. Real power hums quietly beneath the skin, steady and controlled, like a blade sliding free from its sheath. That was the sound filling my ears as night crept over the city and my plans slid into motion.I didn’t sleep.Sleep was for men without enemies.I sat in the dark of my penthouse, city lights spilling through the floor-to-ceiling windows, my reflection fractured in the glass. The man staring back at me looked older than he should have. Lines etched deep around my mouth, eyes sharp but tired. A king nearing the end of his reign—but kings did not step aside quietly. They were dragged down, screaming, or they burned the world before surrendering the crown.I chose fire.My phone buzzed again. One vibration. Controlled. Deliberate.“Status,” I said when the call connected, my voice smooth despite the tension coiling beneath my ribs.“He’s reacting,” my contact replied. “Just like
