Wedding night

David walked into his family's house, expecting to see his mother in her usual calm state. But as he entered the living room, he saw her sitting on the sofa, her face twisted in anger. Next to her, Rowan was trembling and looking down at the ground.

"Good afternoon, Mom. What's going on?" David asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

His mother ignored his greeting and pointed an accusing finger at Rowan. "Do you know what this girl has done?" she hissed. "She's pregnant, and she says you're the father!"

David felt his heart thumping out of his chest. He looked at Rowan, who was still shivering, and then back at his mother. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.

His mother stood up, her voice rising. "How could you do this, David? And with a maid, of all people! Did you even think about the consequences?

David didn't know what to say. He knew he had made a mistake, but he didn't think it would come to this. His mother's anger was palpable, and he could feel the disappointment emanating from her.

Just as his mother was about to speak again, his father walked in. "What's going on here?" he asked, looking at the scene before him.

David's mother turned to her husband. "David got this maid pregnant," she said, her voice laced with fury.

David's father looked at him. "Is that true, son?"

David didn't know what to say. He couldn't deny it, but he also couldn't imagine marrying Rowan, a woman that set him up.

"I didn't know it was going to happen," he muttered. "It was a mistake."

"David, congratulations, then," his father said, a hint of smugness in his voice. "Since you can't deny it, you will marry her in two weeks."

David couldn't believe what he was hearing. "No, Dad, I can't marry her," he protested. "She set me up. I didn't even know what happened. I just woke up in her room naked."

Rowan's eyes widened in shock as she heard David's words. His mother, on the other hand, was quick to support her son. "I sensed so dearly. This thing here set my son up," she said to her husband.

But his father wasn't listening. "Whether she forces him or not, he is the owner of the baby she's carrying. He had to get married to her," he said firmly.

David shook his head. "No, I can't," he repeated, his voice breaking.

His father's face darkened. "Forget about becoming the president of my company then. I want someone who can take up his responsibility," he snapped, before storming out of the room.

David felt a crushing weight on his chest as he watched his father leave. He knew that his life would never be the same again.

"I am utterly disappointed in you, David. I never expected such a lowly act from you, let alone with a mere maid," his mother's voice oozed with disdain as she turned and walked away. Rowan clung to her dress, tears streaming down her face as she listened to the words laced with malice.

Rowan stood up from the ground, feeling sluggish. She wanted to speak, to tell David that he didn't have to marry her, but before she could say a word, David's angry gaze bore into her.

"How dare you think I would marry someone like you?" David spat before storming away in a fit of anger.

Two weeks had passed since David's hurtful outburst, and Rowan found herself standing inside the courthouse where her wedding was about to take place. She was dressed in a beautiful white gown, and all eyes were on her as she walked down the aisle. People gasped in awe as they looked at her, but she couldn't bring herself to feel happy about it.

Deep down, Rowan knew that the man she was marrying despised her, and the thought made her heart heavy. She was doing this for her baby and her father-in-law, who had made her promise to marry David. Just this once.

As she reached the end of the aisle, Rowan's eyes met David's, and she saw the anger and disgust in them. It made her heart sink, but she couldn't back out now. This was something she had to do.

The ceremony began, and Rowan's mind wandered as the priest spoke the words of the ceremony. She couldn't bring herself to listen, and instead, she thought about her baby, the promise she had made to her father-in-law and the man she was marrying.

As the ceremony ended, Rowan forced herself to smile as David leaned in to kiss her. It was a brief and cold kiss, and as soon as it was over, David walked away without a word.

Rowan was left standing there, feeling alone and unsure of what the future held for her. But she knew that she had to stay strong and do what was best for her family, even if it meant sacrificing her happiness.

After a while finally, Rowan followed David outside the courthouse and saw a sleek black limousine parked at the curb. Most brides would have been thrilled at the sight of such an extravagant car, but Rowan couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She knew that David had no interest in her and was only marrying her because he promised his father.

As they got into the limo, Rowan could feel David's disdainful gaze on her. It was like he was looking at her but not seeing her. She tried to start a conversation, but he remained silent, staring straight ahead.

The ride home was tense, and Rowan couldn't shake the feeling that David saw her as nothing more than a maid or someone who had set him up to marry her. She tried to ignore it, but it was a nagging feeling at the back of her mind.

Finally, they arrived at their destination, and David got out of the car without saying a word. Rowan followed, feeling like an outsider, she knew that things would never be the same, and she couldn't help but wonder what her future held. Would she ever be able to earn David's love and respect, or was she destined to live a life of misery and solitude?

Despite the uncertainty, Rowan knew that she had to stay strong for her baby and her father-in-law. She took a deep breath, ready to face whatever comes her way.

Then Rowan made her way toward the mansion, and her stomach let out a loud growl. She realized she hadn't eaten anything since morning, as she had wanted to impress David with her appearance.

In her determination to prove to him that maids could be beautiful too, Rowan had refused to eat, obsessing over her appearance. She had spent hours online the night before, reading articles about how a bride should dress on her wedding day and researching tips to make herself more attractive to her groom.

Despite the awe that almost everyone at the wedding expressed when Rowan walked into the church, she couldn't help but regret the decision she had made.

Although everyone was admiring her beauty and showering her with compliments, her husband refused to spare her even a single glance till they left the church.

Despite her husband's coldness, Rowan couldn't help but feel a sense of joy and pride as she blushed, hearing all the praises that the people at the church showered upon her beauty.

One man even walked up to her and kissed her hand in appreciation of her beauty. Seeing the kindness and gentleness in the man's demeanor, Rowan couldn't help but hope that David would someday treat her with the same level of care and respect.

As she walked, she had expected to be welcomed by the maids, but they were nowhere to be found. This was because David's parents had to leave immediately after exchanging their vows. David's father had kidney problems and had to undergo a transplant, which ultimately led to David becoming the president of Thompson Groups, the family company.

"Rowan's nerves kicked in when she arrived and was greeted by an unsettling silence. There wasn't a single person in sight, not even her best friend Tessy. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Tessy's number, hoping for a response.

"Hello, the newest bride in town!' The voice on the phone was filled with excitement and teasing.

'Hello Tessy, where are you guys? I didn't see any one of you,' Rowan asked anxiously, neglecting the teasing. All she wanted were answers."

Mr. David relieved us all today,' Tessy said.

'What?... Why?' Rowan asked anxiously over the phone.

'I'm sorry, I wanted to tell you, but he threatened not to give me my compensation money if I informed you,' Tessy revealed.

"what? You mean none of the maids are working here anymore?' Rowan asked, her expression turning lethal.

'Yes, but just take it easy. You know the kind of man Mr. David is - he's a psycho. Just tread carefully around him,' Tessy replied in a calm tone."

"Don't worry, I know what to do,' Rowan said before hanging up.

Without delay, Rowan walked to the staircase leading to David's room. She no longer remembered the dos and don'ts David had written in the contract he gave her before he agreed to marry her--- They have two years to spend together after they will divorce. She was determined to demand an explanation as to why he had relieved all the maids responsible for cleaning the large mansion."

Rowan didn't want to believe that David had intentionally relieved all the maids just to punish her, nor did she want to believe that he wanted her to be the only one responsible for cleaning his large mansion.

As she entered David's room, she found him shirtless with water dripping down from his hair. Rowan bit her lips, trying to suppress the electrifying spark that ran through her. She was getting hot beneath and couldn't deny the fact that she found David attractive.

David's physique was like that of a demigod, and his handsomeness could make any woman weak in the knees. Rowan bit her lips, feeling an unexplained emotion as she admired his chest.

"Are you done feeding on my body?" David's arrogant voice snapped Rowan out of her lustful daydream. She quickly composed herself, realizing the desires on her face were apparent.

"I'm not looking at you," Rowan said, though her voice betrayed her true feelings

"Really?" David's voice rumbled as he moved closer to Rowan, his breath warm on her earlobes. She could feel the heat emanating from his body, and her heart pounded in her chest.

She tried to focus on his question, but it was difficult with him so close. She shut her eyes, feeling his presence all around her. She felt a tingle go down her spine as his lips brushed against her ear, and she let out a small gasp.

David's touch was electrifying, and Rowan couldn't help but feel drawn to him. She knew she should keep her distance, but it was becoming increasingly difficult. She opened her eyes and looked up at him, feeling a mixture of desire and uncertainty.

David's voice was teasing as he leaned in closer to Rowan, his lips dangerously close to hers. "You want me, don't you?" he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Rowan's heart skipped a beat as she felt his breath on her skin, sending shivers down her spine. She tried to deny it, to convince herself that she didn't feel the undeniable attraction she had been trying to ignore since the day she met him.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, her voice shaking slightly.

"Really?? Tonight is our wedding night," he said. His hand gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face, his gaze intense as he studied him, his lips moving closer to her lips.
