Lara woke up the following morning to an empty space beside her. Immediately, she furrowed her brows. Miguel's side of the bed was still neatly made.

Did that mean he didn't come home? Disappointment washed over her as she realized he hadn't returned to sleep beside her, despite her anticipation of waking up to his kisses.

But instead, she woke up alone in bed.

She let out a deep sigh of disappointment before reaching for her phone. Perhaps he had sent her a message explaining his absence.

There was none.

She felt a pang of sadness. However, she convinced herself that Miguel had no obligation to explain himself for any reason.

She was about to go back to sleep, feeling disheartened, when she heard Auntie Rosette's familiar knock. Shortly after, the old woman entered her room.

"Good morning, Miss Lara. I'm glad you're awake," she greeted her with a smile as she sat down beside her on the bed.

"Morning, Auntie," Lara replied, resisting the urge to ask for Migo immediately.
