Emelia’s Pov

“I was right after all,” I murmured under my breath. My thoughts raced as I paced the length of my room. “A lady in the house gave them to me, however, not blatantly. She gave me a gift earlier and I found out about it by accident.”

“A gift?” Miranda’s voice was sharper now, more alert. “What sort of gift is it? By any chance, could it be something that is made with jade?”

I stopped dead in my tracks, my mouth parting in surprise.

“She gave me a jade bracelet,” I whispered. “But what does that have to do with anything?”

“That particular plant has a reaction when it comes in contact with Jade.” Miranda replied, her voice clipped.

I blinked, “Wait… What kind of reaction?”
