'Why now?' Hailey held her stomach which was grumbling continuously. Her nose caught so many flavors, she didn't even know what her baby wanted now. Of all the times, why would her cravings increase when she finally thought she was having an upper hand over Kendrick?

Now, almost every day, she had to make a fool of herself when those irresistible urges came up. It was so embarrassing, even her self-esteem was plummeting. Kendrick must be basking in her misery— how despicable.

He never said no to whatever she wanted to eat, but would make sure he dragged the poor elderly woman to the mansion to check on her. That had continued for many days. Wasn't he supposed to be fed up with that? No, he wasn't. But always hovered around her she could barely breathe. Yet beneath those pathetic eyes, she was sure he was very well taking joy in seeing her in this state.
