And if not for her grandfather barging here and asking for her whereabouts, things wouldn't have turned out like this, as her parents didn't even waste time selling her out.

"I really came here to visit," Hailey muttered tiredly. "If you don't believe me, you can call the house's number and ask—"

"Hailey."

Her sister's voice interrupted her and Hailey breathed out a sigh of relief.

Chloe hurried down the stairs with a flabbergasted expression and she gave her a hug, almost crashing into her.

"What is wrong? Why are you suddenly here?" Chloe asked in a worried tone and Hailey had to repeat her reason for being here for the umpteenth time.

"Oh, that— visit?" Chloe stared at her, confused for a few seconds.

"Yeah, I'm here to see you." Hailey nodded, ignoring the couple who were now giving them scrutinizing looks.
