When Andrea followed him into the hallway, he dragged her to the fire escape to receive the call. He wrapped an arm around Andrea’s neck and held her against him as if her soft body would calm him down… or remind him not to say something awful. With a deep breath Andrea took with him, Gryphon spoke: “Mom, is everything all right?”

[“Aren’t you supposed to be in the company today? I came by to see you, but you’re not here. Did something happen to you?”] Gryphon sighed as he figured it was just one of her paranoid calls.
