Even from that distance, I couldn’t make out his expression completely, but something about the way he looked at me felt wrong.

Familiar.

It reminded me of the first day I caught a glimpse of Lisa. Then he lifted a hand and waved.

Arielle My hand slowly dropped as I watched Lisa wrap her arms around the man standing behind her. They embraced warmly before he looked up. At me. Even from that distance, I couldn’t make out his expression completely, but something about the way he looked at me felt wrong. Familiar. It reminded me of the first day I caught a glimpse of Lisa. Then he lifted a hand and waved. “Arielle.”Darius’s voice came quietly from inside the car. I finally tore my eyes away and looked at him. “Let’s go.”I glanced back one more time. They were already gone. “Come on.”Without another word, I climbed into the car. As Nathan drove out of the compound, my mind remained stuck on the man. Why had he smiled at me like he already knew me?I turned to ask Darius, but he was busy smiling at his phone while texting someone. I looked away. The irritation returned almost instantly. “Who was that man?”His fingers froze over the screen. “The man who hugged Lisa,” I clarified. “Who is he?” Sile

  • The Billionaire’s Pretend Wife    The Man Behind Lisa

Arielle I stared at my reflection until I heard the bedroom door close. Relief hit me instantly. I walked over to the bag Darius had left behind and unzipped it. Inside were my bathing sponge, lotions, and everything else I needed. One by one, I placed them on the counter before taking a nice shower. Nearly twenty-five minutes later, I was finally ready. With my purse over my shoulder, I stepped outside where one of the maids was already waiting for me. As she led me toward the garden, my mouth slowly fell open. It was breathtaking. Flowers stretched in every direction, bursting with colors I couldn’t even name. The fresh scent filled the morning air, making the whole place feel less like a garden and more like paradise. Gosh. Darius hadn’t even been exaggerating. Lisa truly loved flowers. I kept looking around in amazement, struggling to believe that somewhere this beautiful actually existed. “Arielle!” Lisa’s cheerful voice floated toward me. I turned and smil

  • The Billionaire’s Pretend Wife    A Heart Ready Not To Forgive; His Father

ArielleI’d been awake the entire night, replaying everything Darius had said. The ring. Why he chose me. Every single confession. The more I thought about it, the deeper it pierced my heart. Rolling onto my side, I realized the other end of the couch was empty, as though no one had slept there at all. I sat up slowly. It was still dark outside, perhaps four in the morning. The house was unusually quiet, almost eerie, as if I were the only person awake in this big house. I checked the room. No Darius. No maids. No sound. Frowning, I wandered toward the back of the house until I reached the pool. There, lying beside the water, was Darius’s shirt. So he’d been swimming. For some reason, I bent down and picked it up. His scent lingered on the fabric. Without thinking, I held it closer and breathed it in. A reluctant smile found its way onto my lips. Though I was still angry with him. If he had truly bought that ring for me, maybe…Maybe I was too hard on him. Before I could s

  • The Billionaire’s Pretend Wife    It Was Never Just A Contract

Arielle I had always hated it whenever Darius was right. But come on…he knew how shy I was. “The first time we kissed…”A lump formed in my throat instantly. “You avoided me for the rest of the day,” he continued quietly. “And now you’re doing the same thing.”I squeezed the blankets tighter and shut my eyes. “How long are you planning to keep this up?”Oh, God. Would he just stop talking?“I don’t know what you’re so afraid of.”Couldn’t he tell?“We both wanted it, so we—“Before he could finish, I turned sharply to him. “That can never happen again.”Our eyes met. Then silence spread for a moment. “Why?” He asked softly.I frowned. “What do you mean, why?”He let out a slow breath. “You didn’t enjoy kissing me?”Heat rushed to my face. “Oh, God…”I covered my forehead with my hand, wishing the bed would swallow me whole.“What?” Darius dragged innocently. What had I gotten myself into?“Why would you even ask me that?” I snapped, my voice louder than I intended. “Did you forg

  • The Billionaire’s Pretend Wife    Let’s Talk Things Out

Arielle My heart barely had time to settle before Lisa walked toward us. I covered my mouth, mortified. We really shouldn’t have done that. “I feel so embarrassed,” I whispered beside Darius, careful not to let her hear. “Just…me do the talking.”A knot formed in my throat as Lisa stopped across the table, her eyes drifting between the two of us. Before Darius could say anything, I had already lowered my gaze. “Why is it so hot in here?” Lisa asked, fanning herself dramatically. Darius cleared his throat and rose to his feet. “Mother.”“Son.”Silence. For some reason, he suddenly had nothing to say. Lisa’s curious gaze wandered around the room before settling on us again. I quietly cleared my throat, snapping him back to reality. “Why don’t we all sit and eat before the food gets cold?” Lisa suggested as she pulled out a chair. She snapped her fingers, dismissing the maids, and they quietly left the dining hall. Darius sat down awkwardly. I glanced at him and shook my head. Th

  • The Billionaire’s Pretend Wife    A Kiss Before Dinner

Arielle We stopped at a flower shop after spending nearly ten minutes searching for one. As Darius and I followed the saleswoman through rows of colorful blooms, I found myself admiring flowers I had never seen before. “I think she’ll love this one,” the saleswoman said, stopping in front of a bouquet. It was a white orchid. “It symbolizes love, elegance, respect, and luxury. It tells the recipient that they are deeply respected and cherished.”She smiled warmly. “Thank you,” I looked at Darius. “What do you think? Should we get it?”He didn’t answer. Instead, he kept staring at other flowers.“Darius?”Still nothing. I gently tapped his shoulder. He blinked and looked at me. “What?”“Are you okay?”He nodded absentmindedly. “I was just trying to figure out which flower I’d get you.”I didn’t know whether to smile or look away. I quickly glanced at the saleswoman. She was already smiling. Gosh. The fact that he’d even thought about it made my heart flutter. “You can always
