I was still lost in my many thoughts when I drifted off to sleep on the couch in the main lounge. I guess I had been sleeping for hours because I didn't notice when someone walked in. I was awakened by the slam of the door and jerked up from my sleep in fear as I thought the house was about to be robbed.
As a matter of fact, I had not gotten accustomed to the fact that I was already married and living with someone. And also, if not that I wasn't thinking straight, why would I think a Billionaire's house like Sorin's, was about to be robbed when there were numerous guards in the house.
I began to hear different sounds coming from upstairs and I became more confused. I tip-toed into the store room and found a golf club. I picked it and started following the sound I was hearing, I was determined to strike but I was shaking at the same time. I mean, what could a frail young woman do to defend herself if situations come to the worst?
As I made my way into the room, I heard a glass shattering on the well-tiled floor which made me shake the more in fear. I stopped in my tracks for a while and summoned courage.
Holding the golf club up in the air, I screamed as I charged towards the room, closing my eyes and swinging the club in the air.
"And what the hell do you think you're doing?" He thundered, holding his head which had been hit by the club in my hands.
The golf club fell off my hands as I looked in shock, with my hands covering my mouth at the sight of what was before me.
I had hit Sorin's head with the club! The impact had now caused a deep wound on his head and he was bleeding.
He swiftly held unto the spot on his head with his hands as he looked at me in horror.
His eyes widened and became as red as thick blood, his brows narrowed as he stood up and began walking towards me while I kept walking backwards.
I could see the blood on his head had now started dripping down to his eyes. I kept walking backwards until I was stopped by the wall behind me and I could move no further. As I hit the wall, I felt a strong pain in my left shoulder and I flinched in pain but I paid no attention.
I was focused on the man in front of me, who was looking like he was about to tear me into shreds.
"Are you trying to kill me? It's bad enough that I have to marry you and put up with you and now you're trying to kill me in my own house?"
Tears began to well up in my eyes as I began to speak but the right words just refused to come out of my mouth.
"I'm sorry, I...I thought……" I began to stutter.
"You thought what? You are always thinking! You always do everything wrong!" He continued speaking in anger, his hand still holding his head.
The sound of his angry voice called the attention of the guards in the house and they hurriedly ran to us. They stopped as soon as they got to the door because they knew better than to enter into the room without being summoned.
"Boss, are you alright?" Kelvin, Sorin's personal guard and assistant asked with concern in his voice.
Seeing how quiet the room was, he sensed something was wrong and asked again, "Sir, may I come in?"
"You may." Sorin finally responded.
Immediately, Kelvin rushed in and was dumbfounded at what he saw. He immediately knew what had happened, he looked at me in utter disbelief and ran towards Sorin to help him.
"Sir, should I call the doctor? I think there might be a wound already. Should I call the ambulance?" Kelvin kept asking questions but Sorin didn't speak, he only shook his head while I stood there, not knowing what to do or what to say.
"There will be no need for that, I'll be fine. Just get the First Aid box, I will fix it myself." Sorin said to Kelvin and he immediately turned to walk out of the room.
"And Kelvin?" Sorin called out and Kelvin stopped in his tracks. "Please, get her out of here this minute!" Sorin commanded and Kelvin obeyed immediately.
"Ma'am, this way please." Kelvin said to me, gesturing for me to walk out of the room but I was too lost in thoughts that I didn't hear him.
Since I stood like a statue and didn't hear or move, Kelvin turned to look at Sorin, because he didn't want to touch me without permission.
Kelvin had been Sorin's personal guard since he was much younger. He was the only one Sorin trusted and he was the only one who knew everything about Sorin. Anyone who tried to hurt Sorin would always have Kelvin to contend with because He was totally loyal to Sorin to death. Although, he was a little bit older than Sorin, they were like brothers when they wanted to be and he had sworn to protect him with his life. Even though Sorin always put up an "i-don't-care" attitude, deep down, he would do anything for Kelvin.
Kelvin was smart, muscular and well-built, he always had a straight face and will never be caught cracking a smile. He always came up with the best solutions whenever Sorin had too much on his plate which was why he was Sorin's most trusted guy.
Although handsome too, his looks were nothing compared to Sorin's. Sorin was perfectly handsome, he was always the talk of the town, every event he attended, he sure would always make a mark. The Head of both male and female would always turn the moment he stepped in the room. He was just perfect!
"Sir?" Kelvin called out to Sorin and he turned to look at him and he, in turn, looked at me.
As Sorin turned towards us, he noticed what Kelvin was calling his attention to. It was me, I was so far in my thoughts, I didn't know what was going on anymore at that moment but tears kept pouring out of my eyes.
"Carry her out, if you need to! Don't just stand there like a fool, Kelvin!" Sorin thundered in anger.
It was like his voice brought me back to life, I felt like a fool, a disgrace, and I felt helpless. At that moment, it felt like my legs could no longer carry the little weight of my little body. I crashed down to the ground in fear and passed out.
Staring absentmindedly at the screen, Anne sobbed as she said, “This means we can't track them. That was the only hope I was holding on to. How would we find Drea now?”“That can't be. There has to be another way.” Sorin said, and closed his eyes.“I need to think.” He and Kelvin said with unplanned unison.A brief pause followed as they exchanged glances.Suddenly, they both snapped their fingers as the same idea popped in their minds, leaving Anne in awe.“We can track the car.” They said in unison.“What? That's possible too?” Anne asked, completely confused.“Yes. It is. The cars we use are advanced and have inbuilt trackers.” Kelvin explained to her as he quickly grabbed his phone and began to call the security team all over again.“Wow…” She muttered in amazement.“Dan, tell the tech guys on your team to immediately start tracking the car.” Kelvin ordered swiftly.“Alright, sir. We’re right on it, sir.” Dan responded, and swiftly informed his team, who immediately got to work.“
"What!” Sorin and Kelvin exclaimed in unison.“What do you mean she left? She left, to where?” Sorin asked, his eyes holding so much curiosity.“I don't know. I was searching all over the place for her and one of the domestic staff told me that she left in a hurry in one of the cars that just arrived.” She replied.“No, that can't be happening.” Sorin muttered, obviously disturbed. “Where could she go?” He asked out loud.“I don't know.” Anne responded, her voice breaking as she was almost in a panic mode.Kelvin immediately took out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number,“Hello Lance. Where are you?” He asked hurriedly.“I'm in our quarters, sir.” Lance, the head of the team of Sorin's drivers, responded.“Which of the drivers left this place some minutes ago and in which of the cars?” Kelvin asked, quickly.“I'll run a quick check right now, sir.” He answered, and they could hear him as he indeed typed into the security system, searching for answers.“Oh, that's Tim, one of
“Drea! Drea!!” I heard Anne's voice calling out to me as she hurriedly sped up the flight of stairs. In a few seconds, the door to the room flung open, and Anne, almost out of breath rushed in.Right behind her was Kelvin, who looked like he wasn't sure of how to react to what was going on.Apparently, they had both heard my scream, and for fear of the unknown, they rushed to the room.“What is going on? Are you okay?” Anne asked, trying to catch her breath, but I didn't respond.I just stood there, speechlessly staring at the one person I didn't want to see.It was none other than SORIN; the very cause of my heartache and nightmares. He was right there, standing there as I walked into the room, his beautiful eyes piercing into mine and I just hated the fact that I had to come back to the house when he was there.Yes, it was his house but still, I deserved some respect. He can't just disappear for months and come back all of a sudden and then expect me to act like nothing happened.
Seeing Kelvin and Anne's face, I knew there was definitely something important that I needed to know.“What is it, Kelvin?” I asked, a bit curious. He hesitated for a bit, but when he finally spoke, he said, “It's about Mr Sorin.”The moment I heard Sorin's name, an unexplainable anger rushed through me. It was as if I was stabbed in the heart with a sharp sword.“No!” I screamed. “Don't even try it, Kelvin!” I snapped, shaking my head rigorously, and they were both taken aback. Even Kelvin had to step back for a bit.“I… I'm sorry, ma'am.” He quickly apologized.I took a deep breath. “I respect you a lot, Kelvin, please don't make me disrespect you and hate you.”“I’m deeply sorry, ma'am. I shouldn't have brought such up when you're still recuperating. I apologize.” He said again, his head bowed.“It's fine.” I responded, and after a short moment of silence, I was able to keep my emotions under control.“I'm sorry for yelling.” I apologized to him.“Oh, no. It's fine, ma'am. It's und
“What is it?” Anne asked, curiously.“How do we get her to hear Sorin out?” Kelvin asked, and right then, it dawned on her that it was going to be a hard task convincing me.“You know I never thought of how difficult it's going to be, convincing her.” Anne said, staring blankly at the wall.“But you're her best friend. I thought it would be easy to convince her.” Kelvin said, and hearing what he had just said, she shot him a stern look.“Are you even listening to yourself?” She asked. “If it was so easy, why don't you go and do it yourself?” She hissed, a bit upset.“I'm sorry. I just thought it would be an easy task for you since you're her best and only friend.” He pointed out.Anne sighed tiredly, “If that boss of yours had not been such a difficult and insensitive person all this while, it would have been a simple task. But where do I start from? What do I even begin to say?” She grunted, getting frustrated.“Won't it look like you guys bought me to be on your side? Don't you know
“What?!” Anne was beyond shocked. She turned around, asking, “What did you just say?”“I said the divorce wasn't real. The whole thing wasn't real. It was plannedl.” He repeated, but he didn't expect the reaction he got from her.Instead of being convinced by his words, his words only got her more furious.Anne's fists flew at Kelvin, “Are you trying to prank me again? What is wrong with you? What exactly is your problem?” She yelled as she continued to throw her fists at his chest. But just as she was about to land another blow, he grabbed her hands, “Anne, stop. Calm down. I swear to you. I'm not lying.”Anne's anger paused for a moment, and she stared at Kelvin with a mixture of curiosity and annoyance.Kelvin took a deep breath. “Sorin told me this HIMSELF. He said the papers were fake… It's not real.” He reaffirmed, and Anne's eyes widened, unable to contain her shock. She snatched her hands from his grip, and her fists slowly dropped to her sides as she now began to process the
