LOGINCATALINA
If I thought I could handle this job before, that confidence immediately disappeared when I stepped into the Knight family. The mansion was freaking lit. From the crystal chandeliers to the expensive red rugs, the place looked like it had stepped out of a freaking fairy tale. I could barely contain the awe in my eyes when we reached the dining table. Up to now, everyone had done a good job pretending they never saw us messing around in the car like a pair of horny rabbits. For some unknown reason, I wanted to do a very good job for Theodore, and that meant convincing them that we were truly dating. And they seemed very convinced. A small wince escaped my lips when Theodore maneuvered me to a seat next to his. He seemed quite tense since the little car situation, but that didn't bother me at all. Okay, maybe a little bit. He kept throwing glances at the pretty little brunette, whom I assumed to be Madelyn. She was the only one who hadn't even spared me a glance since I walked into the room, and I knew why. I grabbed Theodore's arm just before he was about to sit down. Ignoring his confused face, I readjusted his crooked tie and then gave him a peck on the cheek. “Just wanted to make sure you were looking great,” I said sweetly. “Gotta look the part, right, babe?” Translation: Get your shit together, Theo. Theodore immediately cleared his throat after hearing my words while I sat down. Once dinner began, the tension in the room tripled as I felt everyone's subtle stares directed at me. Eventually, one of the women couldn’t keep her curiosity to herself. “I didn’t know Theodore was seeing anyone,” she said, tilting her head. “He must really like you if he’s been keeping you such a secret.” I opened my mouth to respond, but paused when I felt Theodore stiffen beside me. The women exchanged knowing looks and barely-concealed laughs. Honestly, I should have felt embarrassed. Maybe even a little insulted. But instead, I leaned against Theodore's shoulder and replied. “Well, I wasn't very thrilled to meet you guys either. But Theodore begged me to meet the lady of the house, and he knows I will do anything for him when he pleases me right.” Theodore choked on his glass of wine while the rest of the room went into shocked silence. The looks on their faces were truly priceless, and it was hard to hold in a snort. Then, like a carefully aimed bullet, a voice cut through the silence. “So... do you love him?” I turned to see Madelyn watching me with a polite smile, her tone light and cold as ice. “I’m genuinely curious, Miss Rodriguez. What made you fall for Theo?” I lifted my glass, swirling the crystal liquid within for a few seconds before I responded. “His money.” This time, Theodore's mother dropped her cutlery on the plate and gave me a scathing look. “I meant I fell in love with him because he's very generous,” I explained with a chuckle. It was really fun messing with these people, and I couldn't deny I was having a good time here. “Theo has such a big heart, and he's always ready to help people.” Madelyn smiled. “That's good.” Once dinner was over, Theodore's aunt kindly suggested we stay for the night. I wanted to refuse, but Theo accepted without a single glance and guided me to his room. He shut the door with a sharp thud before facing me. “What the hell was that, Catalina?” “What do you mean?” His jaw clenched hard. “You were only supposed to convince my family that we were dating, not piss them off. Do you even understand the consequences of your actions tonight?” Panic curled at the pit of my stomach when I heard the subtle threat in his voice. As much as I wanted to punch him for not appreciating my brilliant performance tonight, I still needed him to help me find my son. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” I snapped. “Just because I agreed to help with this little charade doesn’t mean I’m going to let anyone walk all over me.” He blew out a harsh breath. “It was one night, Catalina.” “Good. That means all I have to do is wait for the sunrise so I can leave this place,” I replied. My eyes wandered across the room, taking in the grey and black sophisticated designs. Then my eyes landed on the bed. “I’m sleeping there tonight. You can take the couch. Or join me. Your choice. I really don’t care.” Theodore rolled his eyes the second he caught me blatantly checking him out. He muttered something under his breath, threw his hands up, and stalked toward the door. “I need a drink.” “Bring two!” I called after him with a grin. A few minutes later, Theodore returned with a bottle of expensive-looking whiskey in one hand and two crystal tumblers in the other. His sleeves were rolled up, revealing his strong, toned arms. “I brought the good stuff,” he muttered, handing me a glass. I took it, raised an eyebrow. “Trying to bribe me into behaving?” “Is that even possible?” “Nope,” I replied cheekily. “But maybe I can teach you how to live life a little, Mr. Knight.” We sat on opposite ends of the bed at first, taking slow sips and swapping barbed remarks that softened with every round. Tension gave way to laughter. The edge dulled, and for the first time since entering the house, I actually felt like I could breathe. And then, a great idea bloomed in my mind. Without hesitation, I reached forward and swiped the car keys off the table. When Theodore gave me a confused look, I swirled the keys around my forefinger. “Hey, wanna do something fun?” Theodore replied warily. “But it's already late, Catalina.” I moved away from him the second he tried to retrieve his keys, standing up to my feet. My entire body felt lighter, but I have never felt so free. Must have something to do with his subtle British accent and the way he was looking at me right now. “Well, that's just the correct way to live.” I replied.CATALINAThe moment I opened my eyes, the first thought that I had when I saw Theodore's face was that I had had a nightmare. It was a very terrible one, but at least it was a dream. It was to be expected after all the traumatizing events I'd undergone over the span of six months. The family doctor had assured me that it was normal to have some hallucinations for now, so I wasn't exactly too shaken by what I thought I saw earlier.Until I saw him again.Dylan...no, Liam stood at the corner of the room, arms crossed, while he leaned against the wall. He looked so different, maybe older, but I could never forget his face even if I wanted to.H-How did this happen?Theodore immediately stood up to support me when I shot up from the bed, but the pain racking through my body immediately rendered me unable to leave. “Be careful, my love,” he warned, his voice firm yet filled with concern. “You might feel a bit disoriented so don't move too rashly.”I ignored his words, simply distressed by
THEODOREThe last thing I'd expected was to see Catalina fall unconscious near the stairs. I barely managed to catch her falling body before it hit the ground, holding her in my arms as I called for help. My family members immediately scattered upon seeing the scene, trying to find some kind of solution to the unexpected problem."Quick! Call the doctor now!" I barked, my voice sharp with desperation, before turning my full attention back to Catalina. "Catalina! Catalina! Please, open your eyes!"My heart raced as I pressed my fingers against the pulse point at the side of her neck, my touch trembling with fear. In the far corner, I caught sight of my uncle, his frame rigid as he knelt beside us, having pulled himself away from the comfort of his son. My eyes narrowed slightly when I saw the concern and guilt warring in his expression as he stared at Catalina."What the hell happened here?" I growled, my voice low and simmering with rage as I fixed my gaze on him. "What did you do to
CATALINA"WHAT?!"Yvonne's expression immediately morphed from nervousness to sheer panic as she shot up from her seat after hearing my words. Her eyes scanned mine like she was trying to figure out if I was bluffing or not, but everyone had already witnessed her brief hesitation. When she realized it, she schooled her expression back to neutrality and fake indignance. But I knew I had already succeeded in the first stage of my plan. Everyone was now staring at her with a hint of suspicion and curiosity as they watched the scene quietly.Even Conrad seemed a bit shaken by my words as he watched his fiancée slowly reclaim her seat by his side. Her hand reached for his again before speaking. "Listen, I don't know what kind of game you think you are playing, but I will not allow you to accuse me of such a thing-""Well, we both know I wouldn't have said such a thing if I didn't have any evidence, Yvonne," I replied, passing the document to Theodore. Once he was done, he gave it to his gr
CATALINAAfter three days, Theodore's grandmother summoned everyone for lunch.I knew this would not be a simple dinner when I saw Theodore sitting at the head of the table. His grandmother, Victoria, was seated right beside him while I sat on the other side. The air hung heavily, charged with heavy tension, causing even Henrietta and Dorothy to sit rigidly in their chairs, unease etched across their faces. Only Yvonne remained oblivious of the atmosphere, chattering away with Madeline, who responded with curt replies, her attention clearly elsewhere. It wasn’t until the maid, flustered and anxious, accidentally spilled the glass of wine across the white tablecloth that the uneasy silence was shattered. She flushed a deep shade of embarrassment, her hands trembling as she dabbed at the chaotic stain, her murmured apologies barely escaping her lips before she hurriedly retreated from the room. Yvonne dabbed her dress with a napkin after scolding the maid under her breath and then raise
CATALINAThe next morning, Theodore sent all the information I needed to complete my mission. According to the file, her name is Yvonne and she had worked as his personal secretary. My anger rose when I discovered they had been dating two months before Chyna's death. Whenever I thought of Chyna, about how happy she seemed when she talked about her husband, all I wanted was to strangle that scumbag and dump his body in the middle of the ocean. But I had other plans. Excellent plans. That's why I allowed myself to heal first while observing the enemy. Yvonne was a simple, bubbly woman at the surface, always making everyone around her laugh, especially Conrad. But I could sense her cautious nature under every action, and her inquisitive questions did not go unnoticed. At first, I thought I was the only one who was on guard against the new woman, but soon I discovered that even Henrietta didn't seem too amused by her son's new woman. And I knew the reason behind her discomfort.Yvonne wa
CATALINAI paced back and forth in the room, my foot aching with each step but I didn't let myself stop. Not when I just discovered that my husband's life was in danger and I was helpless to do anything about it. Who the hell was Gonzalez? Why did he want Theodore dead?I bit my lower lip, thinking about how to solve this problem. From the looks of it, it seemed that even Mateo was wary of this person, or else he wouldn't have called Theodore to warn him like this. This was someone that was far dangerous, a bigger problem than both of them could handle. I was so deep in thought that I didn't even realize when the door opened again. Theodore froze at the entrance, watching me pace back and forth with a nervous expression. After some seconds, he composed himself and walked straight to the bedside table to drop the tray of food before approaching me.“Catalina.”I jerked when I felt a touch on my shoulder. “What the hell—Theodore! What are you doing here?”My husband folded his arms a
CATALINA After my trip to the tailor's shop, I decided it was best not to give in to the blackmailer's demands for now. I had no idea the reasons for asking such a large sum of money, but I instinctively knew that leaving such money trail would not be good for me. But that didn't stop it from dis
CATALINAAfter putting Evan to bed, I decided to get something to eat since I was hungry. It was already nine o'clock in the evening, so I knew dinner would have been over by now. Grandmother normally took her meals in her room if Theodore wasn't around, while Henrietta was still recovering in her

CATALINAThe next day, I paced back and forth in my bedroom with my heart racing in my chest. From the moment Theodore left the mansion for work, I had been restlessly thinking of a solution out of this unexpected problem I found myself in.
