Evelyn's POV

Nothing Adrian told me had lined up with what Sofia was saying now. Even though I didn't want to believe another person over my own husband, again, I couldn't help but feel suspicious about this. It was just too damning to ignore.

I needed to get to the bottom of this quickly.

As I went back inside and was about to go into the bathroom to try and call Mila, I instead ended up running into Adrian. Just my damn luck.

"Hey, I was just looking for you. Is everything okay?" He asked.

  • The Billionaire's Regret: Finding Her at Any Cost   Chapter 134 — He'll Never Be My Heir

Adrian's POVSeeing that ACCEPTED notification in my email gave off what I assumed was the same feeling someone would have for winning the lottery. It was life-changing. Invigorating.Suddenly, tomorrow and the days after were worth looking forward to.With La Bellezza having accepted my—or rather, Cade Spencer's—invitation, I was one step closer to getting back into Evelyn's life. And hopefully, back in her good graces. This way, I was also killing two birds with one stone.Even though it was supposed to be a "competition", the others wouldn't know that it was already rigged.Evelyn was already the winner. Her design could be an empty sack of potatoes, but it would still outshine anything anyone else would make. She was my North Star, the one thing that could guide me to a brighter and better future.Even if she wasn't my wife anymore, I would give her the things I should've all that time ago. Now, everything was falling into place."Adrian!"I drew a sharp breath and put my phone bac

  • The Billionaire's Regret: Finding Her at Any Cost   Chapter 133 — Now The Pressure's On

Evelyn's POVI stared at the computer, still in shock at the words on the screen. As Nathan was closing up and checking every office space, he found me paralyzed with disbelief."Hon?" Nathan called out, concern laced through that one word. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"I couldn't bring myself to physically say anything in fear of him not believing me. So, I turned my laptop around so he could see it for himself.Nathan stepped forward to read over my email. It took forever for him to read the damn thing, too. At first, I could feel his doubt. Was it really Cade's email? Was the competition real? What about the prize money? Then the reality set in the same way mine had. For a few more moments, we were only aware of the clock ticking and our own heartbeats."This is real..." Nathan breathed out.I nodded my head in acknowledgment."Holy shit... This is real!" He basically yelled the last word. Then the shock morphed into excitement as a surge of energy hit him. "How did this even happen

  • The Billionaire's Regret: Finding Her at Any Cost   Chapter 132 — A Wild Opportunity

Evelyn's POVThe entire office buzzed with excitement and curiosity. Even my socials were flooded with constant speculation articles and various new photos of this mysterious elite fashion figure.Just who exactly was Cade Spencer?Since my time in Italy, I learned fairly quickly that the fashion and design industry was always filled with giant powerhouses who lived in the shadows. Many of them actually valued their privacy.Through Mr. Milani, I met a lot of designers who were the real masterminds behind some of the more influential trends. For them, it wasn't about the recognition or the spotlight; they were surprisingly a lot more humble than others would assume. To them, their craft mattered more. It was the art of seeing a vision come to life that excited them the most—it just so happened that the critical and global acclaim was merely a plus.Still, it didn't mean that others didn't have more… deceptive intentions. There were others who were private because of secrecy.; only choo

  • The Billionaire's Regret: Finding Her at Any Cost   Chapter 131 — Completing The First Phase

Adrian's POVIt felt like my eyes had sandbags underneath them, but my drive to get this done outweighed the need for sleep. I was so close to finishing just the first step, and it was two-thirty in the morning.A deep, loud yawn tore through Luke's lips. "God, Lucy's going to kill me for this…""It'll be worth it. Once Beth gets a hold of this, she'll know exactly what to do." Like a fast-acting disease, I yawned, too."Why couldn't this have waited until the morning?""What? You've never felt inspiration strike you before?""Yeah, but then I'd write the damn idea down…" he yawned again, "and then go about it in the morning…""God, stop…" I yawned in response. "I'm gonna kill you if you keep it up.""It's two-thirty in the morning!"We kept the talking to a minimum after that, and focused on our work. The last thing I needed was for either of us to lose our momentum cause we were tired. But damn… I could feel it creeping into my bones…I shook my head and took a sip of what I assumed

  • The Billionaire's Regret: Finding Her at Any Cost   Chapter 130 — Show Her Your Worth

Adrian's POVAs I sat at the bar closest to the booth where my mom and Evelyn now sat, my fingers curled around the coffee mug so tightly that I thought it would shatter at the pressure.Had I heard things right?Did Evelyn say she had moved on and that there was nothing I could do to get back into her good graces? For the last hour, I sat in unassuming clothes, doing the very thing my mom thought I wasn't capable of—spying, eavesdropping. I didn't particularly enjoy spying on family, but I was desperate.Especially after Taylor had given me the amount I needed to pay back as part of that divorce stipulation. One million dollars. Two years' worth of damage, given my position and net worth, was the price I had to physically pay to make my amends. But now that Evelyn had told my mom she had moved on? And that there was no hope of us fixing what we once had?So, Luke was right… She was with Nathan. The revelation hit me like a freight train as I threw the coffee cup behind the bar and the

  • The Billionaire's Regret: Finding Her at Any Cost   Chapter 129 — Meeting Up Again

Evelyn's POV"You're not actually serious about meeting up with her, are you?" Nathan looked at me with wary eyes. "I'm usually not the one to dictate what you do, but I'm not sure about this."At this point, everyone in the meeting room had left. It was us and a somewhat tense atmosphere with the situation at hand not lost on either of us. I pursed my lips into a thin line as I met Nathan's concerned expression. "I mean, I'm not just going to ghost her when she's already here.""Look, I know you two had a good relationship as not many people can say that about their former in-laws. I'm just concerned about her running back to Adrian to tell him everything."I sighed. "I get it, but she's not like that. She was never the one to meddle, even when things were going south for us.""How can you be so sure things haven't changed? What if she's now the very thing you said wouldn't be?""You're right, I can't be sure," I answered. "But regardless, I don't want to let my past dictate what I d
