“Mum.”

Alessa snapped out of her thoughts as she heard her son's voice. She turned to see him standing at the entrance of the dining room.

“Hey,” she called with a smile.

He dragged his feet towards her as he rubbed his eyes. She carried him on her lap and he yawned which made Alessa giggle.

“If you are sleepy, why aren't you sleeping?” she asked. It was in the middle of the night, immediately after they got back from the ball, Alessa put her kids to sleep but she couldn't sleep.

She had a lot going on in her head.

“I just woke up, I couldn't find you in your room,” he replied.

Alessa wrapped her arms around him as he placed his head on her chest.

“Mum.”

“Yeah?”

“Why did that man do that at the party? He wouldn't let you go and he made the reporters follow us.”

“It's nothing, Aiden. Don't think about it.” Alessa replied.

Aiden decided not to talk about it, it was evident his mother wasn't interested in the conversation. He was old enough to understand that.
