ログインEmily’s POV I stared at the clock continuously whilst waiting for Luca to come back. “He should be back by now,” I muttered to myself as I rocked my chair back and forth. He had mentioned that he was going to Nathan’s company for a meeting. I didn’t buy the idea but he wouldn’t listen. I only agreed to come back to New York for the Gala. Not for anything else. Why did I care so much? If anything, I should be happy. I grabbed a glass of water from the table and took a sip. I needed to calm down a bit. The soft click from the door unlocking distracted me from my thoughts. I looked up suddenly and eager to see if it was Luca. He stepped in, calm and collected like he always had been. I immediately stood up and walked towards him. “Welcome back. How was it?” I asked. He didn’t respond immediately. He took a deep sigh before fixing his gaze on me. “I know you’ve been dying to see me. Don’t tell me you’ve been sitting on that chair since I left.” I let out a small chuckle. Pfffft. W
Nathan’s POV It was the day of the gala. I’d perfectly planned my outfit, my speech, and most importantly my celebratory dance for when the deal was announced. I grabbed the cup of coffee by my bedside before checking my phone for new messages. Just as I was doing that, a message popped up from Julian. [ We've scheduled a meeting with the other company that was chosen for the deal this morning before the gala. Meet me in the office in an hour.] I took a deep breath before taking another sip of coffee. I’d known that we’d be collaborating with another company but I still hoped it wasn’t true. I couldn’t get the name of the company. It was anonymous. Hopefully, I'll get to meet with them today before the gala. I quickly ran myself a bath and grabbed my coat. As I walked out, I heard the sheets shuffle. “You’re leaving?” Emma asked, her voice soft and edged with sleep. “We have an emergency meeting at the office. It’s about the new deal.” I responded. She rolled her eyes. “It’
Emily’s POV The car pulled up to Luca’s mom’s house. She was already waiting outside, arms spread and ready to receive Zion. “Be a good boy okay. Don’t make grandma yell.” I said, planting kisses on his cheeks. He nodded and smiled before running to her. “Nanaaaa.” He screamed as she embraced him. She loved Zion like her own. I sometimes wished my mom loved me like the way Luca’s mom loved me. I waved them goodbye before leaving the driveway. As I drove back home, thoughts of going back to New York flooded my mind. There was a high chance that I could run into Emma and Nathan. To make things worse, they were married. It wasn’t like I cared or anything. I picked up my phone and dialed Luca’s number. He answered almost immediately. I took a huge sigh before saying a word. “I don’t think I want to go to New York.” Luca cleared his throat before asking. “Is it about Nathan and Emma?” There was a brief silence. “Yes.” I finally replied. He took a dee
Nathan’s POV The sunlight seeped through the already opened curtains, highlighting the pile of clothes we’d left on the floor. I groaned, reaching for the first sock I could find, only to have her appear in the doorway, hair wild, eyes mischievous. “Morning.” She said leaning against the doorframe with a grin that made me forget my missing sock entirely. “Morning,” I replied, shaking my head and laughing. “Do you always have to look like a tornado hit you?” She chuckled then pulled me in for a kiss. “Well, something big wrecked me last night.” “You’re crazy,” I said, pulling her closer to me. “And you love me that way.” She shot back, running her fingers through my hair before darting away. I growled playfully and chased her before grabbing her from behind. She let out a big chuckle. Moments like this made me forget everything that happened three years ago. My life went from chaotic to peaceful. If I were the bad guy, karma would have had me by now. The universe knew the t
Emily’s POV Luca’s arm tightened around my waist as he pulled me back into bed. “You’re not leaving yet," he muttered as he planted kisses on my neck. “Zion would be up any moment from now.” I whispered. He smirked. “Then I better make these next five minutes count.” Just as I leaned back on the bed, Zion sprinted into the room. “Mama!” He exclaimed, diving into the bed. “How’s my little prince feeling this morning?” I asked as I planted kisses on his forehead and his cheeks.Zion smiled. He was the splitting image of his dad, Nathan. He had his entire face and sometimes it bothered me to know that his dad was far away. Other times I was grateful because Luca treated him as his own. “Come here big boy.” Luca said as he dragged Zion toward himself. They had an impeccable bond. Sometimes I wondered why Luca loved him this much. “How about we let mummy get some rest ugh?” He questioned, smiling at me. I returned the smile with a nod. “Hmm..that would be nice.” I needed the res
Nathan’s POVI stared at my phone waiting for a message from her. I wanted her to reply so badly. I hated that she left my message unanswered. I turned my phone upside down. Then it buzzed. I quickly picked it up thinking it was a message from Emily. It was Julian. I opened the message. [Investors are slowly pulling out of the company. The board members are also leaving. We need to strategize.] I pressed a hand on my forehead and took a deep sigh. I’d never been this stressed over my company before. It seemed like everything was falling apart. [Call an emergency meeting. We need to curb the situation on ground. We can’t lose everything.] I replied to Julian and placed my phone back the way it was. “Morningggggg.” Emma walked into the room wearing the most glamorous outfit. “Isn't it too early to be….” She pressed a finger on my lips before I could finish my sentence. “Shhhhhh.Today is our annual fundraiser, remember?” Shoot! I completely forgot about that. Excellent! This w

We eventually finished shopping and headed back to Tara’s place. The walk was quiet. I felt drained, like everything earlier had taken more out of me than I wanted to admit. Once we got inside, I felt a small sense of relief. The door closed. The noise stayed outside. We unpacked the groceries toge
Nathan’s POVThe car was waiting for me at the garage. I slid into the back seat and shut the door forcefully. “Good morning, sir.”I looked up. The driver wasn’t Charles. It was a different voice. And the person sounded younger. “Morning,” I said. “Where’s Charles?”“Retired last week,” he repl
