My hands trembled as I drove. They shook for a million reasons.  

But mostly for Eve.  

The look in Harrison's eyes had been unsettling. Especially when he looked over to Eve. I could see the malice, I could forsee what he wanted to do to her and I had been so fucking close, to grabbing Eve with me and driving off with her.  

But what would that have solved? 

You could have protected her, my mind taunted. Some man you are.  

"It would have caused a scandal!" I growled at no one but myself. "It would have caused nothing more but trouble. No one would understand that Harrison was a major bitch who beat up his wife. All they would be concerned about would be why me, billionaire Adam Stone, had an affair with Eve in the first place."
