~ ISLA ~

By the time my shift ended, I was already exhausted. I slumped against my chair, staring blankly at the charts piled on my desk.

Being a doctor is truly draining. If not for the fact that I treasured this job so much, I would’ve collapsed a long time ago. But every time I see patients who need my help more than I can even give myself, I find another reason to continue my calling—to save lives.

I closed my eyes for a moment and leaned back, trying to replenish some energy.

But it only lasted a few seconds before my phone buzzed on the desk.

A new message flashed across the screen.

I picked it up and opened the text.

> This is Tyler. I’m already waiting at Le Jardin Étoilé.

I blinked at it, stunned.

If he hadn’t reminded me, I probably would’ve forgotten about it.

Everyone knew that name. Le Jardin Étoilé wasn’t just a restaurant—it was one of the most exclusive fine dining places in New York City. The kind of place where celebrities, politicians, and magnates dined without bei

  • The Billionaire's Uwanted Wife    CHAPTER 38 — An Unexpected Invitation

~ ISLA ~For a moment, my mind went blank. The man standing in the doorway wasn’t just handsome. He was familiar. Very familiar, actually. That sharp jawline, those beautiful green eyes, and the easy confidence in his smile—I had seen that face countless times on magazine covers, billboards, and television screens. The one and only Tyler Grant.Hollywood’s golden star. The man who could make entire arenas scream with a single grin. And the same man we had operated on for a brain tumor just weeks ago.My breath hitched. As in—it really faltered for many seconds! No wonder the entire office was buzzing—and half of them looked like they were ready to faint.“Hello, Dr. Bennett,” he greeted softly, a gentle smile spread on his gorgeous face.He strode into the room smoothly, unbothered by the many eyes watching us.He wore a crisp white shirt tucked neatly into his tailored charcoal trousers, topped with a dark coat—giving him an air of quiet sophistication. This was the first time I had

~ ISLA ~When I woke up the next morning, the sun was already rising—its gentle, warm light filtered through the floor-to-ceiling windows.I blinked slowly, adjusting to the brightness, and lay there for a moment, still groggy, before the realization hit me.The sharp ache in my abdomen was gone.I pushed the quilt down and pressed a hand lightly against my stomach, almost not believing it.There was no pain anymore. Not even the faint cramp that usually lingered. When I thought of Alistair taking care of me last night, my cheeks heated involuntarily. I turned to the other side of the bed, but he was nowhere to be seen. The space beside me was empty, and the pillow was neatly arranged. He must have left hours ago.I forced myself to sit up. The last clear memory I had from last night was his hand pressing the warm compress against me, his deep voice murmuring something low that blurred as sleep pulled me under.Honestly, it still felt surreal. He’s Alistair Montgomery, okay? But tendi

~ ISLA ~Alistair stopped that instant, his gaze flicking across my crumpled face. I really couldn’t help my expression from becoming contorted. The mind-blowing pleasure seconds ago was immediately replaced by unbearable pain, along with the sudden flow of liquid.God… when will this embarrassment stop?Alistair lifted himself off me and sat down beside me. I also sat up and fixed myself without meeting his eyes. But when I saw the spot where I had lain, wet with period blood, I stiffened. When I turned to Alistair, he was looking at it too.Another wave of mortification struck me. I was about to get up, but his hand held my arm.“Stay still,” he ordered in his usual cold voice, but there was something different this time—a subtle edge of concern beneath the cold exterior. My mind was still working—processing everything that had happened—when I felt something warm placed on my lower abdomen. My eyes flew open as I looked up at him, instantly meeting his deep gaze. And I was completel

~ ISLA ~In the next breath, I landed against the soft sheets. The faint scent of fresh linen mixing with his own clean fragrance, making my pulse hammer wildly.Alistair’s shadow loomed over me, his tall frame blocking out the soft glow of the chandelier. Though his weight hadn’t touched me yet, his presence pressed down like a force I couldn’t escape.I stiffened when he leaned over me, my breath catching in my throat as his piercing gray eyes locked onto mine—cold, unwavering, and burning.“Running won’t save you tonight,” he murmured. His voice was calm, yet the warmth of his breath and the pull of those tantalizing eyes left me distracted and unsteady. His teasing words sent a jolt down my spine, and my cheeks flamed hot.My hands gripped the sheets tightly, every nerve in my body strung with tension. My voice scraped out, trembling.“I wasn’t—”His lips curved faintly, though it wasn’t a smile. It was sharper— and dangerous.“You look terrified… yet you dressed yourself like thi

  • The Billionaire's Uwanted Wife    CHAPTER 34 — A Night Of No Escape

~ ISLA ~I don’t know how long I had been staring at myself in the big vanity mirror inside the walk-in closet. I had just finished my bath and was already wearing a silky slip dress.“Am I really going to wear this in front of him?” I muttered to myself. The deep, silky red nightie barely reached above my knees. Thin straps clung to my shoulders, and the neckline plunged low enough to expose more of my chest than I ever thought I’d show.Honestly, I hadn’t worn anything like this in my life. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, heat rushed to my cheeks—I felt ashamed, and almost like I was looking at a stranger. It had taken me nearly fifteen minutes to fumble through the wardrobe prepared for me, but I couldn’t find a single appropriate pair of pajamas. Instead, every hanger carried some sort of sexy nightie or lingerie. My cheeks burned hotter at the thought. Had Alistair ordered all of these? I never expected him to be this… daring.Oh my God. I would probably die from shame la
