Benjamin.

“You brought the wedding forward and you didn't think to tell me?”

“You are the one who wanted me to get married with urgency, I have finally seen the reason,” I responded. My mother sighed. I didn't need her to be in front of me to know that she rolled her eyes.

“I want this wedding to be the biggest and largest there has ever been.”

“Why waste so much on something that isn't real?”

“Oh, you're wrong, this is going to be as real as it can be. I had to send the bastard and his slut of a mother invited.”

Did she invite William? What the fuck? Why was I just finding out about this?

“Mom…” I dragged, already annoyed about the way she was running things.

“I had to, they need to be there to see for themselves that the marriage is genuine.”

She had a point but still, I didn't want William anywhere that wedding because of the sudden attraction he had developed for Oliver. I don't think I would be able to stand seeing them in a proximity that close.

‘But you're getting married and

OliverI wanted to stay like this forever, frozen in this moment. I lay comfortably on Benjamin’s arm, his muscles contracting rhythmically to let me know that he wasn’t asleep, at least not yet. Even after three rounds, Benjamin still smelled good. His hair stuck to his forehead, a total Greek god. The gentle light from the street hit his face beautifully; it was magical.“You’re staring,” he commented as he curved his arm to twirl her hair gently.“You’re beautiful,” I replied sharply. He chuckled and pulled me into a deeper cuddle. I took a whiff of him, the scent of manly keeping me rooted.“Can I paint you?” I whispered. He became still, his hand dropped from my head before he shifted. He pushed himself into a sitting position, peering down at me intently.“You paint?” he asked softly. I flushed.“Yeah, I do, I’m a bit rusty because I haven’t done it in a while, but I do.”“Since when?”“Since I was a kid. I used to paint more when my dad was alive, and after his death, I became

BenjaminI grabbed the steering wheel to distract me from Oliver’s restless legs that kept bouncing on his seat. He clamped hard on his fingernails, chewing relentlessly on the already short studs. His breathing was audible, even more distracting in the silent car. He leaned on the glass, scooting across the seat and then changed positions some minutes after.“Hey,” I grab his thigh, pressing it firmly to the floor, “you seem nervous, are you okay?” He snapped toward me, his eyes blown out like he had been caught stealing candy from the forbidden jar. He nodded quickly, too quickly for it to be the truth.I glanced back at the road, seeing it was clear, I swerved to the curb and parked the car.“What is it?” I asked, staring intently at him so he would get the message that we weren’t leaving until he came clean.“Nothing,” he said again, but his slanted posture, the forced smile and the beads of sweat that had formed on his forehead even when the air conditioning was blasting intense

Benjamin“If you’re watching this, then I am dead,” the video began, and I heard Oliver gasp beside me. He didn’t even know who Ethan was, but this was startling. Who would want to kill him? I knew he was a good lawyer, one of the best in the entire city, which was why my father had hired him as our family lawyer. But being that good came with consequences. Ethan was too good; he could make criminals walk free, could swing an entire jury in his favour with his minced words and his dashing personality. It was unbelievable to think that he was dead.“I’m recording this video, and it will be delivered by an agent whom I trust with my life. The day I die, this video must be shown to you no sooner than two hours after, so she will use any of your darkest secrets to lure you out, I apologise on her behalf.”I could physically see Oliver relax; the thought that Felicia had no daughter finally settled in. Ethan coughed and glanced behind him, then back at the camera.“I’ve done terrible thing

Benjamin I had to lie to him...again. He was too fragile to handle the truth of Felicia’s death. I didn’t want him to worry about what the repercussion of killing her would be. All I wanted him to do was focus, on what exactly? I wasn’t sure. But I wasn’t lying completely. Felicia didn’t have a child, and I was sure of it. I had run a complete background check on her before she was employed. I wanted to ensure the working hours that I could give her so she would not be missing out on family time. It turned out that she was more than happy to stay after hours because it felt lonely in her house, even with her fifty cats.So if she didn’t have a daughter, the main question was, who the fuck was claiming to be her daughter? I knew my Private Investigator was top notch and he would comb every strand of hair, shake every tree, till nothing was left on it. There is no way he would miss it.“Ben? What are you thinking about?” Oliver drew my attention. I snapped toward him, staring at him in

OliverFelicia has a daughter? How the fuck was I supposed to know? But that shouldn’t be a problem right? She was alive, at least that’s what Benjamin said...so why was she demanding for her mother? Or...did she die? In the hospital? My chest burned intensely, the organ slamming rapidly against my ribs. It felt like the air was being squeezed out of my lungs, sucked by the very feelings that tried to imprison me. I staggered a bit, stretching backward for something to lean on. I caught the eyes of Anna following me curiously, her brow arching in confusion.“Is he like, dying?” she pointed out. Benjamin whipped toward me, his eyes blown out as he clutched me from toppling over. He held me firmly. My eyes skittered toward his hand and I shifted from him. His mother was here and I didn’t want her to think anything was happening with her son.My eyes latched with hers and I could see the gears in her head spinning, the seed had been planted, it was too late.“I’m leaving, mom,” he said f

Oliver.“How dare you?” She spat the words out with so much spite that it coddled around my throat. My face stung from the impact, and I swear I felt my teeth shake. How was she so fucking strong?I felt some of her spittle hit my cheek, my head still angled to the corner afraid of facing her wrath head on.“Mom,” Benjamin called and grabbed her, holding her back.“Let go of me, let me teach this peasant a lesson,” she wriggled herself out of his grip and advanced toward me again. I shifted further, colliding with the wall.“How dare you walk into my son’s wedding and pull that stupid stunt!? Do you know who I am!? I can have you thrown in prison and the keys will be flung into the depth of the sea for life!” She barked. Her veins serpentined around her neck, juicy and eager as if it was ready to pop.“I was trying to help,” I whispered softly.“Who are you to speak while I speak?” she scoffed and eyed my entire frame, her face slack with a grimace, disgust pertinent in her awful
