Chapter 4

Hattie Scott's Point of View

Since I left Manila and traveled to Boracay in order to forget about the problem, it has been a week already.

Because that person has a huge issue in his life. He’s blaming me for everything, he’s mad because their supposed to be wedding got cancelled.

Why can't he just come to terms with the fact that he won't be getting married and that it's partially his own fault? If he is going to get married, there is no reason for him to respond to my kiss. Additionally, he is a badass. It will be my responsibility to shoulder the blame if he is discovered.

So annoying! It is more appropriate for me to be working right now rather than relaxing here on Boracay.

While I was scrolling through my phone, I came across some old articles that were written about me. I have read some of the comments, and as you might expect, some of them are critical of me, while others are supportive.

I scoffed in annoyance. They continue to invade my privacy, don't they get tired of it? Aren't they sick of passing judgment on me without giving me a chance to explain myself? People living in poverty who have a limited mentality.

If they continue to behave in that manner, they will never make any progress. They weren't bothered by my problem, but if they attack me, it's the same as if I battled them.

I did nothing more than shake my head and turn off the sound on my phone. I moved it over to the table that was next to me. Because I am currently experiencing annoyance, my eyebrows are drawn together, and I am unable to portray the expression on my face at this moment.

"What expression did it make on your face? I bet something happen that made you pissed off.” When Fannie arrived at this location in the Terrace on the cottage we are using right now, she remarked that she gave me the impression of being iritate.

"Fannie, up until what time we are hiding here?” I asked in a retorted manner, that I was interested in going back to work. “ And how confident are you that this will be the answer to my predicament? Let them hate me if that's what they feel like doing. What the hell does it matter to me what they think?"

After heaving a deep sigh, Fannie walked over to the monoblock and sat down next to me. "Don't want to take a break from the media for a little while? Do the long hours of work not make you tired,” She said it nonchalantly, "Because me, I'm grateful because the agency let us go on a trip."

When I turned my attention to her, I noticed how exhausted she appears to be. It's possible that she's grown weary of solving my problem. She is worn out from having to face everyone in order to clean up my image. Fannie needs to get some sleep and an healthy environment. On the second thoughts, we both need ut.

I apologized to Fannie, saying that I was sorry to have caused her to have a headache.

She did nothing more than shake her head. "You were the one responsible for our decision to enter this industry on the day that we made it. Because of the sin that you committed, I cannot lock you up in the cloister. There is really no problem with what you did; the people who make it an issue are the ones who are the problem." She turned around and flashed a grin at me. "Then I learned from someone else that the nature of the relationship that exists between the two of them is currently unclear.

"Are the claims made by the resources accurate? Perhaps it's nothing more than idle rumor..." I uttered.

Fannie responded with a shrug of her shoulders before continuing. "I have no idea if that's the case. Perhaps it's nothing more than idle chitchat. However, if what they say is accurate, it is not your fault... let's just enjoy this trip."

While I was laying there, I gave a small nod of my head and moved the cradle. When I looked up, I saw a clear blue sky with fluffy white clouds. The sky was calm, and I couldn't help but think that my life is a lot like the sky. When I first became a public figure, my life was far from being calm and quiet.

"When will I finally be able to live my life in peace again?" I asked Fannie completely out of the blue.

"To tell you the truth, in this line of work, people like you no longer have the right to lead a solitary existence. When you decide to become a public figure, you should be prepared for the changes that will occur in your life. As a public figure, it's expected of you to have a messed up life," Fannie responded. When I looked at her once more, I noticed that she was looking at me as well.

“People will invade your privacy until they bring you down, and when you're already falling, they will laugh at you while you're falling.” She continued, then turned her gaze away.

“People will always have something to contribute to our lives, and even if it causes us pain, they won't stop doing it.” She repeated the statement while sticking her tongue out at the audience. "Their words have a significant impact on our lives, and their words can kill people," she said. "But rather than allowing ourselves to be influenced by what they say, let's simply remind ourselves that we are more familiar with ourselves than they are with us. Those individuals are only familiar with us because of our names; they do not know the real us.”

I was considering what it was that Fannie had stated. There were times when Fannie used more serious language, and I respected that about her. What she says is always profound, and it has the ability to touch both our hearts and our minds.

"People in today's society feel perfectly comfortable passing judgment on one another without repercussions. They don't give any consideration to the feelings of the person to whom they convey their pointless opinions "I remarked before turning my gaze once more to the heavens. I shrugged and smiled. "They are unable to generate revenue from expressing their opinions... because people in today's society believe they are superior and perfect. We have every right to feel offended, despite the fact that a person's level of fame does not determine whether or not they still exist. Perhaps they believe that because we are inanimate machines, we do not deserve to be injured. We each have our own set of internal experiences. We are saddened and insulted also.”

"Hattie, that's the life you lead when you're a public figure..." Fannie said.

I continued her sentence by saying, "And I should be mindful of my actions so that I could avoid conflict."

She let out a deep sigh. "Hattie, we are powerless to stop the occurrence of the problem. My only request is that you stay out of any kind of trouble as much as you possibly can because it won't look good for your professional reputation.” She gave me some advice.

"Your career is more important to me, and I don't want it to go to waste, nor do you want to throw away everything you've worked so hard to achieve. You shouldn't let anyone else bring down the career that you've been working so hard to build.”

I nodded my head. After all it makes sense to me. Fannie cautions me to avoid causing any disruptions wherever I go.

"I will give it my best effort to avoid getting in your way, Fannie. But I can't make any guarantees because trouble adores me so much that it won't ever leave me alone." I turned my head in her direction and smiled broadly at her as I did so.

She did nothing more than shake her head and then burst out laughing.

"I don't think so! You are Hattie Scott, and for some reason, trouble is drawn to you like a magnet!”

We both burst out laughing. How I wish it could always be like this. We are able to smile as if there are no problems around us. We are able to laugh at ourselves without thinking about the problems that we were experiencing.

I can only wish that I could turn back the time…
