Chapter 1

"In a shocking turn of events, Nicholas Harrington, the billionaire son and influential figure, has once again found himself entangled in a web of scandalous activities. The heir of Harrington Holdings, known for his lavish lifestyle and controversial reputation, has left the public in utter disbelief with his latest transgressions...."

Nicholas Harrington, the young heir in question, was currently lying eagle-spread on the bed; his dark brown hair was so scattered on the bed that it looked like a bird nest.

He had been out partying all night and was only able to get home safely with the help of his best friend, Cameron. Nicholas was currently sleeping soundly, oblivious to the storm that had been gathering outside.

Sebastian Harrington, as his father was called, was the founder of Harrington Holding, a huge company that focuses mainly on car rentals and the sale of cars.

He had managed to build the company from scratch through his determination and hard work, getting little help from friends. And he would be damned if he let his son destroy all that work in one day.

"All these wouldn't have happened if she was..." Sebastian shook his head, trying to get rid of the thought. That was in the past, and it was bygone.

Now it is time for him to deal with his son himself. He had been too lenient with him, and this is how the boy turned out to be. He would have to try another approach.

"Do I have to come pick you up, sir?" The driver asked, looking at him from his mirror.

The voice was able to distract Sebastian from his thoughts, and he glanced at his watch. The huge tiger head was pointing out that it was just a few minutes past 10.

"Hmm." He weighed the options before he nodded. "Yes, please. You can just wait here; it will be over so soon."

Sebastian got to his son’s residence, and the automatic gate opened, letting him into the huge compound. The huge fountain was currently running, and the swimming pool was by the side.

He had gifted his son the house for his twenty-first birthday, but now he was regretting it. It had made him lazy, and he had begun to think that everything comes freely.

He was the cause, Sebastian thought. He had spoiled his son too much, and now it was heading to something even he couldn't control.

Sebastian marched up the stairs leading to his son's room. His eyes caught some painting on the walls, and he nodded appreciatively. If there was one thing Nicholas knew best, it was art appreciation, and the pieces he bought were always good.

Sebastian reached the bedroom, opened the door, and was greeted with stark darkness. His pupils dilated, adjusting to the darkness, and he walked past clothes that were thrown on the floor and made it to the window.

He opened the curtains wide and smiled as his son let out a hiss when the sun came streaming down on his face.

"Who the fuck is that?" Nicholas swore, groaning as he shifted to the other side of his queen bed, avoiding the harsh rays of the sun.

He had been out last night getting drunk and partying, and now his head felt heavy, as if a loud drum was playing in his head.

"Nicholas Joel Harrington, you do not talk to your father like that." Sebastian thundered.

Shit! Nicholas was sitting up straight in spite of the headache as soon as he heard the voice of his father. The old man doesn't sound pleased at all.

"Hey Dad," he attempted to smile, but it turned to a frown as the headache continued to increase. "Good morning. And what a fine morning it is to be grazed by none other than my father." He was trying to pacify his dad; otherwise, his ass would be toast.

"What exactly is good about this morning when all I am greeted with is the news of your promiscuous activity?"

"What?" Nicholas eyebrows bunched together. Frown Lines appeared on his face as he tried to think of what he had done that would warrant news.

His father flung a newspaper at him, and he cringed as he saw the front page. "Oh, I see, they captured me well." He mused, looking at the cover picture. He was in the midst of two ladies, and they were swooning over him. Nicholas smiled as he recalled the activities of the night. It was beyond beautiful.

Sebastian's eyes hardened, angry that his son was taking this lightly. "Have you read the headline? It says here that you are incompetent to take over the company, and I think I am beginning to agree with them."

Nicholas sighed, wondering why his father was such a killjoy. He was still young and was trying to enjoy his youthful age. Who cares what the media thinks about him?

"That is it. Tidy up your shit, because you are going straight to work." His father was already walking out of the room before he could hear any further complaints.

"But Dad, today is Sunday. It would be illegal to send someone to work. It is against the office policy."

"Well, thank fuck, you are my son and not just some coworker, because if I don't see you at the office when I come back, you can kiss the company goodbye." With that final statement, Sebastian marched out of the room, leaving the young man behind.

"He has to start taking responsibility for his actions." Sebastian was whispering to himself. He couldn't continue cuddling the boy again. He was already grown.

Sebastian entered the car where his driver was still waiting, and they sped off into the unknown.

Meanwhile, Nicholas was still on his bed, trying but failing to stand up. His dad was usually lenient most times, but there was something in his voice this time around, and he wouldn't want to risk disobeying him.

He managed to get up from the bed, but first he strolled to the cabinet to gather aspirin. That should be able to calm his raging headache before he enters the shower.

He opted for cool water; that should be enough to wake him up. He wore a dark shirt and brown pants and completed the look with his sunshade.

The shades will be his most important asset today, because not only was he going to block the harsh rays of the sun, but it was also going to prevent people from seeing his red eyes.

Nicholas got into his orange Lamborghini Huracá and drove off to the office. He sighed as he stared at the huge building with Harrington Holding boldly written on it. His dad had really tried to build this company into what it was, and he felt he was incapable of taking on his shoes.

"Good morning, sir." People greeted him as he passed the hall to the elevator. Some people are just meant to be workaholics, he mused as he saw the number of people that were still working on a Sunday.

"Now if it isn't the life of the party." Charlotte, his secretary, smiled as she saw him.

"Is there anyone that doesn't know at this moment?" Nicholas sighed. Bad news sure travels around before good ones, and he hoped he would be able to get over it today.

"Hmm." Charlotte pretended to think before she shook her head. "I doubt that; it was carried by all the news outlets."

"Whatever. I just want to get over today. Now what are you doing here on a Sunday? Did you know I would be coming in today?" Nicholas asked, and Charlotte shook her brown curls.

"Not at all. I just came to get ready for the week." Nicholas groaned as he heard her reply. He couldn't believe some people found work so good that they were willing to come even on weekends. "I can see why you won employee of the month. I could never."

Charlotte shrugged her shoulders, "well, you are my boss, so..." Nicholas was painfully reminded again that it was his influence that was helping him.

"Well, let's get to work then." He went inside his office; he was in charge of PR and promotions, and although he wasn't keen on work, he actually liked the department.

Nicholas sat down on his seat and started looking at some of the examples his subordinate had brought. They wanted to produce another ad, and they needed something to capture the attention of people.

He began to brainstorm, picking and removing the proposals they had made. Nicholas took a quick break and strolled to the cafeteria to get a drink. His phone was in his hands, and he was scrolling through his feed, trying to catch up with the trending news.

He sighed as he dropped the phone. Most of his feed was filled with his news, and it had everyone talking. Why were they acting like they weren't worse?

Nicholas stood up, dragging himself back to the office. Since his father wanted him to work, he would. He was still trying to come up with a suitable ad promotion when the door of his office opened.

"I see you have decided to be serious." His father said, eyeing the files that were on the table.

"Well, I need to be." Nicholas's old man broke into a smile, and the younger Harrington began to get afraid. What was his father planning?

"Don't you worry; I know the exact thing that would do that."

Nicholas raised his eyebrows, looking at his father. "And what is that?"

"You are getting married."
