Naomi’s POV

I stared at the DNA results on the table, wondering how a child I had agreed to carry for one man could suddenly belong to another.

I picked up the report again and read the names. Ethan Kingsley was listed as the intended father, but the DNA verification showed Roman Kingsley.

I dropped the paper.

“This doesn’t make sense.”

Roman stood across from me, his hands resting on the back of a chair. He had barely spoken since the doctor left, but I wasn’t going to let him avoid the questi

  • The Billonaire Surrogate Mistake    THE WOMAN WHO TOOK THE EVIDENCE

Roman’s POV“Find out who opened the box,” I told Marcus. He stood across my desk with the bank’s preliminary report in his hand.“The authorization carried Daniel Ellis’s name,” he said. “The signature passed the bank’s initial check, but they later flagged it because Daniel had been declared missing and subsequently presumed dead.”“Did they keep the original documents?”“No. The box was emptied during the visit. However, the bank retained a record of everything that was removed.”I leaned back in my chair.“Get me the visitor records and the security footage. I want to know who went there.”Marcus nodded and left.Naomi was sitting on the sofa when I walked into the living room later that afternoon. She had been reading something on her phone, but she put it down when she saw me.“Did you find out anything?”“Someone accessed your father’s safety deposit box two weeks ago.”She stood up. “What?”“The authorization was forged. The box was emptied before the bank flagged it.”Naomi s

  • The Billonaire Surrogate Mistake    THE ACCOUNT THAT CONNECTED EVERYTHING

Naomi’s POVI was still thinking about Roman’s phone call when he walked into the bedroom. He placed his phone on the bedside table and loosened his tie.“What did Marcus find?” I asked.Roman looked at me. “The medical foundation account was managed by Victoria’s private office.”I sat up straighter. “Your aunt?”“Yes.”“Why would her office have access to your medical records?”“That’s what I’m trying to find out.”I watched him take off his watch and place it beside his phone.“Roman, this isn’t the first time her name has come up. She keeps appearing whenever we uncover something.”“I know.”“And you still think she might know nothing about it?”“I didn’t say that.” He came closer and sat on the edge of the bed. “Having administrative access doesn’t automatically mean she knew what someone was doing with the account. I need the original records before I accuse her.”I folded my arms. “You always have a reason to protect her.”His expression changed.“I’m not protecting Victoria, N

  • The Billonaire Surrogate Mistake    THE ENVELOPE FROM THE RETIRED CONTROLLER

Roman’s POVI checked the time on my phone before Marcus entered my office.“The controller’s daughter agreed to meet us,” he said. “She’s waiting at the office we arranged.”“Did she say anything about her father?”“She only said he left something for you.”I picked up my jacket. “Let’s go.”Marcus followed me out, but before we reached the stairs, I stopped.“Make sure Naomi stays with the security team. I don’t want her going anywhere alone.”“Yes, sir.”I found Naomi in the sitting room. She was arranging some documents Claire had sent over.“I’m going out with Marcus,” I told her.She looked up. “Where?”“To meet the retired controller’s daughter.”“Can I come?”“No.”Her expression changed. “You haven’t even asked what I wanted to do.”“I know what you want to do. You want to hear what she has to say about your father’s investigation.”“Exactly.”“Naomi, we don’t know who might be watching her. It’s safer if you stay here.”She put the papers down. “You keep saying that whenever

  • The Billonaire Surrogate Mistake    THE MAN BEHIND THE COMPANY ACCOUNT

Naomi’s POVRoman had barely touched his breakfast. He sat across from me, going through some documents on his tablet while his coffee remained untouched beside him.I placed my cup on the table and looked at him.“Are you going to tell me what Marcus found, or should I keep guessing?”Roman raised his eyes. “You don’t have to guess.”“Then tell me.”He put the tablet down. “The signature on my father’s authorization was copied from an older document. Someone used it to process the transfer after his death.”“And the person who approved it?”“Marcus is verifying his identity.”I leaned back in my chair. “Every time we find something, another person appears. How many people were involved in this?”“I don’t know yet.”“That’s frustrating.”“I know.”I picked up my fork but didn’t eat. “Do you think someone inside the company has been working against your family all these years?”Roman looked at me. “Someone clearly had access to information they shouldn’t have had. But I won’t accuse an

  • The Billonaire Surrogate Mistake    THE SIGNATURE AFTER DEATH

Roman’s POVI read the date again. The document was lying open on my desk, and Naomi was standing beside me, staring at the signature. My father’s name was written at the bottom of the authorization. The handwriting looked exactly like his, but the date made no sense. He had been dead for several days when the document was supposedly signed.“Could someone have made a mistake with the date?” Naomi asked.I shook my head. “The transaction was processed through the company’s financial department. The date is recorded in several places.”Marcus stepped closer to the desk.“The payment was released three days after the funeral,” he explained. “It went directly into the private investment company we identified from Daniel’s notebook.”I looked at him.“Have you confirmed who submitted the authorization?”“Not yet. I’m checking the original records.”“Then find out. I want the names of everyone who handled the document, including the person who approved the payment.”Marcus nodded.“I’m als

  • The Billonaire Surrogate Mistake    THE WOMAN’S HIDDEN REASON

Naomi’s POVI stared at the footage on Roman’s laptop. The woman entering the restaurant was unmistakably Margaret. She had used a key to open the back door, then walked straight toward my father’s office.I turned to Roman.“She told us she wanted to help. Why would she sneak into our restaurant?”Roman paused the footage. “We don’t know what she was looking for yet.”“She could have told us she was going there.”“She could have.” He closed the laptop halfway. “That’s why I’m not making any accusations until we hear her explanation.”I folded my arms. “You seem very willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.”“I’m willing to get answers before deciding what she did.”“Convenient.”Roman looked at me. “Would you rather I accuse her without knowing what happened?”“No. But I don’t want us trusting everyone who claims to know my father.”“Neither do I.”He picked up his phone and called Marcus.“Find Margaret. I want to know where she’s staying. Don’t approach her until we know she’s
