Synopsis

Tragic Love

Feel-Good Story

Male POV

Cheating

My wife, Heather Conner, secretly steals the funds I've saved up for our daughter, Naomi Hartman's surgery. After that, she books a high-class hotel for Jared Winters, the low-income student she has been sponsoring, just so she can celebrate his birthday with him. When I find out about it, I demand that Heather return all the money to me. But she slaps me immediately and blames me and Naomi for causing her trouble on purpose. "This is the first birthday Jared and I are celebrating together! Since it's such a big day, it's only natural that I hold it in a grand and lavish manner! "Instead, you two insist on undergoing that stupid surgery just when I've booked the hotel instead of scheduling it at any other time! You really are vile! "I've already inquired with the doctor about the surgery. Turns out it's completely optional! I might as well put the money to good use by giving Jared an unforgettable birthday instead of having you waste it on a useless surgery! "Even if Naomi does end up dying, that means she's fated to die anyway! You can't blame anyone for her death!" Heather just abandons Naomi, who's still fighting for her life. She then drives Jared to the hotel, where they spend the night watching a beautiful fireworks display. With 12 critical notices issued by the doctor in my hand, I kneel before Monica Brown, the richest woman in the city. "I'm willing to marry into your family as long as you pay me 35 thousand dollars' worth of wedding gifts!"

Chapter 1
My daughter, Naomi Hartman, suffered sudden heart failure and needed immediate surgery.I bolted home and asked my wife, Heather Conner, for the bank card where I had been saving money for Naomi's surgery. I had been depositing money into that account every month, so there should have been at least 13 thousand dollars in there, excluding interest.Heather was squatting on the balcony, hand-washing underwear for Jared Winters, the impoverished college student she had been sponsoring. When I asked for the card, she tossed the underwear into the basin, frowned, and spat, "No money!"A regular surgery costs a few thousand dollars at most, so what surgery is that, costing more than ten thousand dollars?"Jared's birthday is coming up in a few days. I booked a birthday package for him at a hotel, so the card's empty."This isn't Naomi's first episode either, so get the doctor to prescribe some pills and stop being dramatic."I fixed her with a deadly stare and gritted my teeth as I de

Chapter 2
By the time I finally arrived at the hospital, the doctor told me that Naomi's situation was so critical that she had been taken into the operating room.I signed a stack of consent forms before the nurse shoved a pile of bills at me and urged me to pay at once.I wandered the hospital hallways in a daze, calling and texting every relative and friend just to beg for money. But no matter how humbly I pleaded, I only managed to scrape together two thousand dollars. For a moment, I was so dazed that I considered asking a nurse if I could sell a kidney or part of my liver to cover the rest of the bills. At a corner of the hallway, I wasn't paying attention and ran into a woman in high heels. Both our surgery documents were scattered onto the floor. As I apologized and helped gather the papers, she stared at me with a strange look and then tentatively called my name.My mind was too blank to think, so all I could do was give her a blank stare without recognizing who she was.She too

Jared yelped as he tumbled into the hospital room and slammed his face hard against the floor.Heather rushed over to help him up and angrily demanded that I apologize.I refused to waste a single word on them, so I grabbed the test reports from the bedside table and turned to look for a nurse. Naomi had several tests to complete, and if we delayed any longer, the doctors would be off duty.Heather reached out to block the door and refused to let me out. Then, she began accusing me of being heartless."Naomi's perfectly fine, yet you insisted on hospitalizing her and even jinxed her to die. How's a vicious man like you fit to be her dad?"If Jared wasn't smart enough to see through your lies, you would've completely fooled me. Now, you've laid hands on him twice, so get on your knees and apologize to him."Besides, you're going to discharge Naomi and bring her home right now, or I swear I'm not going easy on you!"Furious, I laughed and snatched up the medical records from the b

A crowd of patients and their families had gathered outside the hospital room to watch the show. Naomi sat up in bed and gave me a worried look.I whispered a few words of comfort to her and asked the nurse to keep an eye on her before leaving with the police. At the station, I presented my ID, marriage certificate, and property deed to prove that the apartment was mine. I explained that I had forced the door open only because I couldn't get in and that I had forgotten to tell my wife that I had reset the passcode. After verifying everything, the police finally released me the following afternoon. For fear that Naomi would worry, I raced back to the hospital, only to be told by the nurse that Heather had insisted on discharging Naomi that morning despite the doctor's objections.I rushed home again. When I stepped through the door, I saw Jared playing video games while Heather fed him fruit and snacks like a devoted caretaker. They sat so close that when she fed him apple slices,

My heart skipped a beat. I dared not call Naomi and opened the tracking app for her smartwatch instead. The GPS showed her moving toward the remote outskirts of the city.I thought about it, then called Heather again to ask where they were. I explained that there had been a sudden power outage at the office and everyone had been sent home. If they hadn't gone too far, maybe she could come back and pick me up so we could go to the hospital together. She sounded flustered, muttered something about a bad signal, and immediately hung up.At that point, even an idiot could tell something was wrong. I rushed out to flag a cab to chase them down, too panicked to watch where I was going. As soon as I stepped onto the streets, a black luxury sedan nearly ran me over. Before I could even yell, the window rolled down to reveal Monica's bright, refined face. She looked almost like a savior to me then.I dropped to my knees beside her car window and begged, "Please help me, Monica. My wife h

Chapter 6
The Browns had been seeking a son-in-law for quite some time. Despite the massive wedding gift offered, Monica had never found someone she deemed right, so nothing had ever been finalized.I had borrowed ten thousand dollars from her, so I couldn't think of any position or excuse that would let me shamelessly ask her for another 35 thousand dollars. All I had was myself.Startled, Monica reached out to help me up, but I shuffled back two steps in my kneeling position and knocked my head against the floor."I'm willing to marry into your family. We can sign a prenuptial agreement, and if we get a divorce, I won't touch a single penny from the Browns."I know we're nothing more than just schoolmates and dare not hope for more, so I'm selling myself just to trade my life for my daughter's."Monica opened her mouth as if to speak, but she ended up saying nothing. All she did was give a small nod.She helped me up, sat me down on a hospital bench, and then went off to speak with the

I sent the soft copy of the divorce papers to Heather, then closed my eyes and forced myself to rest.I barely slept a few hours before being so worried about Naomi that I woke up again, so I got up and returned to the hospital.Just as I stepped out the door, I ran into Heather, who had just returned from her night out. She shoved her suitcase toward me and told me to unpack."I'm exhausted from a long day. Put my suitcase away and wash all the dirty clothes."Enough with this divorce nonsense. I know that you just want money, so I'll transfer you five thousand dollars later, and let's just drop it."I'm in a hurry to meet Jared for a meal and might not come back tonight. Take good care of Naomi."With that, she turned and rushed off.I ignored the suitcase and left the house. When I arrived at the hospital, Monica was there with Naomi and caring for her. I rushed over to take over, but she had handled everything that needed to be done.Monica told me she had arranged for two

Chapter 8
After Naomi's condition stabilized, she was moved to a regular room. Monica had hired two caregivers who treated her with incredible patience and care. I observed them for a few days before I finally relaxed. As soon as the courthouse reopened, I immediately dragged Heather with me to finalize the divorce.Standing at the gates of the courthouse, she crossed her arms and turned to me. "You want a divorce? Fine, but I'm getting all the assets, while you're leaving with nothing and paying me ten thousand dollars in emotional damages."I turned down her demand on the spot.According to the divorce papers I had drafted, I kept my premarital assets. I wouldn't take a single penny of what Heather had earned over the years, on the condition that I was taking Naomi's sole custody.I could stand by that with a clear conscience.Heather took out her phone and confidently pointed at a photo on the screen. "I caught you on a date with another woman. That's an affair, so you should leave wi

In less than two days, I was told that both Heather and Jared had been fired.Heather immediately called to curse me out for meddling, but I ignored her and blocked her number outright. Now that we were divorced, it was better if I could avoid contact. As Naomi steadily recovered, I didn't hide the truth from her and told her everything. She might be young, but she had her own sense of judgment.Naomi said nothing in response to the divorce since she had always shared a weak bond with Heather. Besides, she had no objections, knowing she would be staying with me from then on.As time passed, my relationship with Monica steadied before she eventually suggested having a wedding. Neither of us was extravagant, so we kept everything simple and low-key.One evening, I decided to drive Monica's usual car to her office to surprise her with some food while she worked late. The luxury car had just pulled out of our gated community when Jared suddenly darted out from the side and recklessly

Heather immediately hung up after delivering her threat. When I tried calling back, her phone was already switched off.A million dollars was no small sum. Her actions clearly amounted to kidnapping and extortion, which should be reported to the police.Just as I was about to dial 911, Monica caught my wrist. She quietly outlined her plan and immediately had her men prepare the cash.I didn't object. Instead, I turned and hurriedly left to announce that the wedding was canceled.Gathering that much cash took time, but Monica had her ways. Everything was ready in less than three hours.I loaded the suitcase full of cash and exchanged a look with her before driving to the docks. The evening wind was rough, and the boats moored at the dock rocked with the waves. As per instructions, I boarded a rundown vessel and made my way through the cabin until I spotted Heather and the others at the stern.Naomi's hands were tied as she glared at Heather like a trapped, furious little animal.
