Alpha Ollen Kingsmen...

I opened my eyes once I heard the door close, her footsteps falling further and further away from the office.

I felt something twist in my chest.

I was conflicted. I didn't know how to act properly after finding out that everything was a lie the previous night.

I could still hear Vice speaking as if he was still sitting in the office, Laura's loud gasp still trapped in the room just as I was.

"It's Jenny and Joyce. Not Joyce and Jenny." Vice had commented the previous night.

"What does that mean?" Laura had voiced the question ringing in my head.

My confusion was cleared shortly after.

"It means Jenny is the older sister, and Joyce, the younger." Vice had replied. "I specifically remember Laura saying that the spell she casted our had informed her that the elder daughter of Alpha Feather was your mate. It didn't make sense to me, so I looked around a little bit more. And..."

Vice had hesitated for a few seconds before he'd continued, clearly knowing that what he had said after that was going to upset his wife.

"I know you told me not to engage with anyone under any circumstance, but..." He'd continued, and I was certain Laura was glaring at him. Yet she did not inturrupt.

"I compelled one of the Omegas who was taking out the trash. I assure you that nobody saw us. I compelled her to tell me the recent truth about the two sisters. And she told me everything, said that when the letter Laura sent arrived in their pack, they forced Joyce to take the place instead. Jenny, the golden daughter, as the Omega called her, was too precious to die in the hands of the cursed Alpha. So they sent her younger sister instead, the one they never cared for, the one they never liked, to take her sisters place as your mate."

"How did they force her? What method did they use?" Laura had asked.

"A little bit of guilt, and a lot of Alpha aura until she no longer resisted. They said if she didn't go, Ollen would destroy their pack. That he would kill every single one of them, even the innocent children, because there was no way he was going to send his eldest daughter to her death." Vice answered.

"So... She was never my mate." Was the words that spilled from my lips after Vice was done.

I understood why I never felt that jump towards her, why I didn't have the natural reaction to sink my teeth into the side of her neck and mark her as my own.

I wanted to mark her after the times I'd spent with her, but it was never a driving need. That was because she was never mine to begin with.

"After that, I compelled the omega to forget I was ever there and left." Vice finished.

"How did we not know?" Laura whispered. "How did I not know?

"The Omega said the witch of their pack gave her something to conceal her true identity." Vice added what he had forgotten to tell us.

"No wonder she wanted to leave so badly." Laura commented.

"Was that all, Vice?" I'd asked.

"Yes."

"Alright. You can go now. Thank you for doing this."

Laura and Vice had left shortly after, and I'd spent the rest of the night in agony. Finding out that she was not my mate broke me more than I expected it to.

It shattered me.

I stayed up all night thinking about it, trying to convince myself that it didn't matter.

But it did matter.

Every hope I had to convince her to stay after the six months we agreed on was over shattered along with the bond I thought we shared.

She had no reason to stay.

She was merely tolerating me until the time was over, and she could leave.

I realized that I must have been forcing the bond on her, making her keep the mind link open for the entire day when she didn't want to.

I was forcing her to stay and care for the people she had no responsibility towards.

The entire situation was clear that I was rejected by my actual mate.

If my actual mate didn't want me, then who is to say that Joyce did?

I was holding here and prisoner. Guilt had made her come to this pack, and guilt was making her stay.

I was broken, but I didn't dare be mad at her for it.

She had saved her sister from me and had almost died in my hands, a man she had no business being mated to.

She has a mate out there somewhere, a man who would not attack her on the night of their mating ceremony, a man who would go on a run with her every full moon instead of hunting her down to kill her, a man she is destined to be with. The mere thought almost sent me on a spiral.

I'd previously tried to convince myself I thay deserved a mate, that I deserved Joyce and her affection. It was clear that I was wrong.

I don't deserve a mate, and I most definitely don't deserve a woman like Joyce.

While it tore me apart, the information Vice gave me made me realize that if I wanted to survive after sheaves and continue to be the Alpha my people need me to be, I need to stop the attachment I was forming to Joyce.

I need to stop looking for her every time. I need to stop feeling her in my head every day. I needed to stop dragging her around to the places I needed to go to.

I need to distance myself away before my feelings consumed me.

I need to stop forcing her to be the Pack Luna.

I knew I would forever be grateful to her for everything she had done for the pack, for being the Luna even when she didn't need to be, for breathing life back into our land.

But eventually, she's going to leave, and there is nothing else I could do but let her walk out of my life and let her find happiness where she belongs.

Ollen didn't come to the dining room for lunch. I asked around for him again and was told that he was probably out with the patrols still.I didn't have an appetite, so I went to my room, sat by the window, and waited to see if Ollen would return.I had a clear view of the woods and partial view of the front door. I threw my gaze around, hoping I would catch sight of his tall figure somewhere. I was busy looking around when Mavus spoke to me through the mind link."Did you run into the Alpha yet?" She asked."Not yet." I replied."Well, he just came back and went straight to his office. I'm going to take him lunch there for him." She commented."Thank you, Mavus." I said, wanting to run to the kitchen to hug her for remembering to ask me. I cut the link and rushed out of my room, my target being Ollen's office. I knocked on the door the second I arrived, but there was no reply."Ollen?" I called out, not wanting to badge into his room without getting invited in first.Still, there

The search for Ollen continued until lunch hour. When I walked into the dining room hoping I would find him there, he was, in fact, not there as well.Worried, I walked into the kitchen where the Omegas were walking around preparing lunch and looked for Mavus. The kind old lady was sitting by the counter, peeling onions."Mavus?" I called out."Yes, Luna? What can I help you with?" She asked, a warm smile spreading across her face. She looked at me as if she adored me, like a mother or a grandmother looking at a tiny human being."I've been looking for Ollen all day. But I can't find him. Do you know where he is?" I asked."I heard he was out with the morning patrol men. They're probably circling the pack. He sometimes goes out there with his people. I'm sure he'll be back for lunch." She replied, the kind smile not once leaving her face."Okay. Thank you." I smiled back as I turned around to leave."Oh wait, Luna dear..." Mavus called out. "I went into your room to get your dirty lau

  • The Blind Alpha's Mate.   Looking for Ollen.

Joyce Feathers...I woke up feeling refreshed. The precious day had been exciting, so exciting that it had drained me of all my energy.I was knocked out the second I laid my head on the bed and didn't wake up until Mavus knocked on my door.I was a bit disappointed when I saw that it was Mavus instead of Ollen. I remember him telling me he would come get me for breakfast before I walked into my room.I assumed he was busy. Mavus told me that breakfast was ready before she left.I took a few minutes to wash up and get dressed.I noticed that the mind link between Ollen and I was broken, so I tried to open it. But I couldn't.It was like there was something blocking me in my mind or in his. I didn't worry much. I was about to see him in the dining room anyway. I made a mental note to ask him why we couldn't link and left my room. I skipped to the stairs and wanted to spend more time with our people after breakfast. Ollen and I trained yesterday morning, which meant we wouldn'

I stood in front of Joyce, waiting for her to strike. She moved clumsily, breathed too sharp when she was about to throw a punch, and made too much noise that it was too easy to block her attack."Try not to make too much noise." I commented after I caught her fist with my hand and pulled her to me."I didn't make any noise." She argued even though I knew she knew I was right."If I can hear your movements, then it means you're making too much noise." I replied, letting go of her and taking a step back."Now try again." I said and waited, listening to her take a deep breath and then stopped breathing all together.A smile formed on my lips when I heard the loud thud of her heart against her ribcage. She might be able to control her breath, but her heart gave her away.It somehow managed to melt my own heart. The morning training was something I looked forward to since the very first day we trained together. I liked being close to her and being able to show her how to defend herself, o

Alpha Ollen Kingsmen...I followed the soldier to the border he said Markus was at, disturbing the peace of the pack we earned after years of mad chaos."Did he say what he wanted to talk about?" I asked, annoyance evident in my voice.I wanted to sit next to my mate in front of the waterfall for a few more hours, pretend like I could have her and she could have me, pretend like she would return my growing feeling for her even though I knew she was going to leave five months from now."He didn't say, Alpha. He insisted that he would talk to you and only you." The soldier replied.Another sigh escaped myself. "Finally." I heard Markus call out the moment I assumed he saw me. "I've been waiting for ages. It's rude to keep a guest waiting outside..."I resisted the urge to curse him out."Why are you here?" I asked, even though all I wanted to do was kill him."No need to be hostile, Alpha Ollen..." He started in that smug way of taking he has, almost as if he was mocking me."Host
