“Ava,” Richard’s voice came from the dining hall as Ava walked into the house with Marc trailing behind her. “In here.”

Ava paused, then sighed helplessly. She retraced her steps and headed into the dining hall.

There they all sat, Richard at the head of the table, Emily by his right, and Eva by his left. Ava thought they looked so perfect without her in the frame.

“Marc, you're excused.”

Marc gave a slight bow, spun around, and disappeared through the doors.

“You really tried to escape.” Richard pronounced, mocking sarcasm laced in his voice.

Ava folded her hands, eyes hardening, “You gave me no choice.”

“What made you think that you would slip my grasp, Ava?” He enquired, “You must have forgotten that I control some of the high officials in the city.”

Ava made a disgusted face. “You make me sicker than you already do when you brag.”

Richard frowned. “I brought you into this world, Ava; whatever I say, goes.”

Ava has finally accepted her fate. There was no escape. She was going to get married to Devlin Frost no matter what she did.

Hey, who knows? Maybe this is all she needed. If she gets married to Devlin, she will be out of here, away from this sick building of a home.

She has no one. Nowhere to go. No place to hide. Maybe this was all for the best. If she gets married to Devlin Frost, she will no longer have to feel terrible whenever Eva gets treated like she is the queen of England.

No more neglect. No more constant comparison. No more self-hatred and self-pity. Just Devlin Frost. Who knows? Devlin Frost might have changed over the years; he might no longer be the hateful, emotionless bastard he was as a kid.

“So, you will get married to Devlin in six days.” Richard concluded.

“Fine.” She declared.

There was a pause.

Did she just say… No, perhaps they heard her wrong?

“I said fine.” She repeated, “I will get married to Devlin Frost since that's what you all want.”

None of them ever expected that Ava would accept in just a speck of hours. They had expected her to keep throwing tantrums, but what is this? She will get married to Devlin Frost? Just like that?

Either way, this new development was fantastic. After all, it was what they all wanted.

“Um… okay.” Richard beamed brightly. “Very good, Ava.”

“That’s all, right? May I go now?” She turned to leave.

“Actually, there is another thing.” Richard said, halting her in her tracks.

“What?”

Richard glanced at Emily, at Eva, then back at Ava. “You won't be getting married to Devlin as Ava Summers; you will be getting married to him as Eva Summers.”

Ava stayed quiet as she absorbed the news. She didn't even know how to feel. Just when she thought they were done with her, they found another way to screw her over.

“You mean… I have to pretend to be… Eva?” The disbelief in her voice was palpable.

“Yes.”

Ava burst out laughing.

They all exchanged annoyed glances.

“What’s so funny?” Richard demanded.

“You,” Ava replied amidst laughter, “You are so funny… and ridiculous! And stupid!”

Richard's face darkened.

“Ava, don't speak to Dad like that.” Eva cautioned.

Ava threw her a glare, “You shut up.” Then she returned her gaze to her father’s annoyed face. “What in the world made you all think I could ever pretend to be Eva? Huh? I mean, look at her, she's the perfect daughter, the most beloved girl always full of radiant smiles and energy that attracts everybody around her. The perfect girl who always knows what to say and do at the every situation. Daddy's and Mommy's little girl! What in the world made you think I, the confused, imperfect daughter who don't even know what to do with her life could pretend to be her?”

“I will teach you.” Eva offered, “I will teach you how to be like me.”

“Oh, I do not want to be anything like you!” Ava snapped at her, “You know that!”

“Ava, you've agreed.” Richard pronounced, “We are not doing this again. You will be pretend to be Eva and no one… no living soul will ever know! Else, there will be consequences,” His face darkened, “You know damn well what I can do. Am I understood?”

Ava felt defeated.

She has no idea why they were doing all this. If Eva grew cold feet and had a changed of heart, why couldn't they just call off the wedding? I mean, the Frosts and the Summers has been friends for ages so why are they forcing her to marry Devlin in Eva's place whilst pretending to be Eva at the same time?

There was a whole lot more to this.

“Fine!” She threw up her hands in resignation, “It’ not like I have any say. Besides, I do want to know how it feels like to be the perfect radiant Eva everyone loves! Can I go now?”

She spun on her heels and exited the dinning hall. She locked herself up in her room, showered then changed into something nice.

Twenty four hours ago, if someone had told her that she would not only find out that Cole was cheating on her, but also that she would be the imposter bride to that emotionless robot, she would have laughed at their face and told them that they were ridiculous.

Everything was happening so fast that she couldn't keep up.

Now she was going to pretend to be Eva. That would be more hard than getting married to Devlin.

She knows Eva all too well. Eva is phony. And two-faced. She gives people what they want, with that constant deceptive smile that has worked charms for her.

She loves being the center of attention. She is socially manipulative. And always dresses and walks like a supermodel on the Vogue runway. With her perfect hair and makeup.

Ugh, what a headache. Now how in God's name was she going to pull all that off?

The light knock on her door broke into her thoughts. She sighed and rose to her feet, then made her way to the door.

Eva was standing elegantly at the door, a slender hand on her knees, her perfectly shaped lips pursed.

“What the hell do you want?” Ava demanded hostilely, eyes hardening as she folded her arms defensively.

“Oh, don't get your panties in a twist, sis, I come in peace,” Eva grinned at her. “I'm here to give you a makeover. On how to be me.”

Out of the hundred people Ava has greeted tonight, she knew not a single one of them. Thanks to her photographic memory, she was able to recognize some from the pictures Eva had shown her a few hours earlier. She had always known that Eva was admired by people, but damn, not this many people.Amongst all, it was so hard pretending to be friendly and smile at people she had never met in her lifetime.Guests were mingling around, all dressed in attire that its worth a large fortune. It was almost like a fashion show, everyone dressed to impress, eager to outshine the other.“Hi,” The manly voice came from behind, making Ava instantly spin around. She was surprised to find a tall, good-looking man with dark hair and brown eyes standing right behind her. She instantly recognized who he was. He was Dean Frost, Devlin's cousin, the second brother to Elliot Frost. It has been so long since Ava had seen any family members of the Frosts. After they were all done with high school, they were al

Eva had already sent Ava her dress for the reception, her clothes, the things she would be needing, alongside the makeup artists who helped her into the dress, did her makeup and styled her hair.If Ava thought the wedding dress was the most uncomfortable thing she's ever worn, she was wrong. The dress she was wearing right now was the worst. It was an off-the-shoulder golden corset dress with a long slit that rode into her thighs. Her squished boobs were practically falling out of the cups, and the mesh corset did not attempt to cover her squished belly. With a dress like this, she would definitely turn heads. Definitely Eva's style. Turning heads has always been another of her obsessions. Her neck was adorned with a golden necklace, and in her ears were the dancing earrings. She had been standing in front of the full-length mirror for the past minutes, after the makeup artists had left, staring at her reflection, still not believing that the lady staring back at her was actually her

Ding! The elevator bell dinged, came to a halt, and then the door swung open.Ava, Ben and Pat stepped out into the hallway. Throughout the rest of the elevator ride, Ben had engaged Ava in a conversation and surprisingly enough, they were getting acquainted. The conversation flowed very well, and Ava couldn't be more glad.Ben was nice, talks a little too much, but still nice. Ava didn't mind. She hadn't formed an opinion of Pat yet, as the only exchange they've had was their little introduction. She had asked Pat about what Devlin told him to give to her, and he had told her that it was some kind of rules she was to abide by during the years of their marriage. Seriously? That jerk. Not that Ava minded the rules, though. The last thing she wanted was to get in the way of that robot. But really, though, rules? Seriously?Pat unlocked the door and ushered Ava in.“Welcome to your new home, Miss Eva.” He said warmly.“Thank you.”Ava glanced around the place. It was nice. Really nice. T

“Just keep walking, Ava,” Richard muttered under his breath, practically dragging her to the altar. “Don't make a mess.”Thousands of thoughts were running through Ava's mind. Just when she thought they were done with their screw overs, they did it again!Right there and then, she admitted that her family must really hate her. She had always thought that, at least, even if they didn't love her as much as they did Eva, there must be a little left for her.But right now, right here… Nope. They hate her. They really do. Because if they didn't they wouldn't have been marrying him off to a blind and crippled man.Richard dropped Ava off at the altar and walked over to the front pew, where his wife Emily and Eva were situated. As the priest began to read the scriptures, Ava's eyes never left Devlin. Not even for one second. Her mind spiralled from how her family hates her, to Devlin. What happened to him? Since when has he been like this? Why didn't the Frosts make his condition public, es

It's safe to say that the last few days have been the worst days of Ava's week.As impossible as it seemed, she had learned how to do things like Eva over the past few days, but the problem was, could she always keep up with the act?Eva was a social butterfly, and she was far from it. Eva liked dressing in designer clothes that were way too tight or too revealing. And she? Nah.Today was finally the wedding day, and as Ava sat at the dressing table and let the makeup artists do her face, she doubted that they would fool Devlin Frost even if they had managed to fool everyone else. She knew that Devlin Frost was no fool; even from a young age, he was astute and knew things a boy his age shouldn't.It has been over six years since she has seen him, and Ava couldn't help but wonder what he looked like.Is he still the same emotionless boy whose eyes were always full of hatred for everyone? Or has he changed over the years?Ava prayed he had; if he had, this marriage would be a little les

Ava stood by the door, arms still crossed, and watched Eva saunter around the room, eyes judgy, obviously unimpressed by the decoration of the room.“I swear to God, if you say one stupid thing, I'm kicking you out!” Ava warned coldly.Eva turned to her, then grinned, “Why do you always assume the worst of me?”“I don't know.” Ava raised her shoulders in an indifferent shrug. “Maybe because you're you.”Eva frowned. “What the hell does that even mean?”“You know what I mean.” Ava replied, “You're Eva. The phony girl. The socially manipulative girl who thinks she's better than everyone else.”Eva smirked, “Oh, but I am better than everyone else… You are not an exception. You do realize that you come off as jealous, right?”“I'm not jealous.”“Oh, but you are,” Eva said, then turned to scrutinize the wallpaper. “You can stop lying to yourself Ava; you are jealous of me and everything I have and have accomplished. You know you are.”Ava's jaw tightened, “Yeah. Maybe I am. Maybe I am jeal
