When I rang the apartment doorbell, carrying a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine, I didn't expect to find Laura looking heavy. She thought our conversation in the morning had made her let her guard down. But when I took a closer look at his face, I noticed that it was swollen. —What happened, Laura? — I asked. The agony taking over my body.
