Chapter 4

Author: Dinkerbell
As Shawn picked up my phone, his expression changed.

I let out a breath of relief, thinking he would finally believe me. However, the next second, the corner of his lips lifted in a mocking sneer. “Tiana, don’t tell me this is your husband. So what if he is?”

Jessica took the phone, glanced at it, and burst out laughing. “Ms. Larrinson, if you’re going to lie, at least make it believable. This is Zack Lynch—the famous Mr. Lynch. A man like him would never fall for someone like you, a trash picker.”

The next second, Shawn hurled the phone to the ground. The screen shattered instantly. His expression darkened as he looked at me on the floor, then he picked up Tessa and strode out.

At last, Tessa broke down, crying uncontrollably.

“Tessa!” I staggered after them. The pain in my back was blurring my vision.

Guests in the banquet hall began to gossip.

“What’s going on?”

“Looks like that woman snuck in and got caught.”

“I heard she used to be Mr. Chandler’s ex-girlfriend. Now, she’s picking trash…”

I had no time to explain. All I wanted was my daughter back.

In Shawn’s arms, Tessa struggled desperately, her little face flushed red from crying.

“Bad guy! Let me go! I want Mommy!”

“Shut up!” Shawn snapped, startling her so badly that her whole body trembled, her face turning pale. “I’m your father. You’re coming home with me!”

“Shawn!” I rushed forward and grabbed his arm. “You’re scaring her! Give her back to me—”

“That’s enough!” he cut me off. His voice was filled with disgust.

“Tiana, five years ago, you abandoned me over a wedding dress, and now, you’re bringing a child here to ruin my life again?”

A wave of murmurs rose around us. “Oh my God, this woman has no shame…”

"She brought a kid to pester her ex-boyfriend?”

“Look at what she’s wearing. How did she even get in…”

Every word stabbed into my heart like a knife.

“That’s nonsense!” I pointed at Shawn, trembling with anger. “You were the one who let Jessica wear the wedding dress and made me wear a bridesmaid’s dress!”

A gasp rippled through the crowd.

Jessica’s expression changed instantly, and then she put on a pitiful expression. “Ms. Larrinson, how can you twist the truth like that? You were the one who thought the wedding gifts Shawn gave you weren't enough…”

“Yeah, getting married in a bridesmaid’s dress? That’s impossible!”

“Is she mentally unstable…”

“Record this and post it online. Let everyone see…”

Phone cameras turned toward my face. I raised my hand to block them, but accidentally knocked over the champagne tower beside me.

The crash of shattering glass drew even more attention. A waiter glared at me with disgust.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…” I quickly crouched down to pick up the broken glass, cutting my finger in the process.

“Still playing the victim,” Shawn sneered. “Everyone here should know how hard it is to get an invitation to this charity gala. How did someone who rumbles through the trash like her get in?”

Security guards rushed over. “Ma’am, please show your invitation.”

My invitation was in my bag. However, I had no idea where it had gone during the struggle just now. I looked around frantically, searching.

“See? She doesn’t have one.” Jessica lifted her chin smugly. “Security, throw her out!”

“Wait!” I tried to explain. “I was invited by the organizers. These donated clothes are mine.”

Shawn looked at me with disdain. A mocking smile appeared on his face. “Tiana, how long are you going to keep lying? These clothes clearly belong to Mr. Lynch’s wife. Everyone knows Mr. Lynch dotes on his wife. How could he possibly be interested in a secondhand woman like you?”

Laughter erupted from the crowd.

My face burned, and I was traumatized by the laughter.

Tessa was still crying hoarsely in Shawn’s arms, “Mommy! I want Mommy!”

My heart felt like it was shattering.

Just as despair set in, I suddenly spotted my bag under a nearby table. I rushed over, grabbed it, and shakily pulled out the invitation.

“Look! This is my invitation!”

A guard reached out to check it, but Jessica snatched it away, glanced at it, and tore it in half. “It’s fake! Security, throw her out!”

“You!” I watched the pieces fall to the ground as despair struck me.

The guards grabbed my arms. “Ma’am, please come with us.”

“No! My daughter!” I struggled desperately, tears streaming down my face. “Shawn! Give Tessa back to me!”

Just then, the lights in the banquet hall suddenly dimmed, and a spotlight fell on the central stage.

The host’s clear voice rang out. “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight’s charity gala! First, let us welcome the hosts of this evening, the president of Lynch Group, Mr. Zack Lynch, and his wife, Mrs. Tiana Lynch!”

The next second, a family photo appeared on the big screen. It was the same photo as the one on my phone. Shawn’s expression froze instantly.

"I'm fine," I said calmly, then continued, “That day, I was bleeding nonstop in the hospital corridor. He was the one who called the doctor for me. Meanwhile, where were you? You were diving in Maladeivs with Jessica.”Zack frowned. “Honey…”“I’m fine.” I tightened my grip on his hand. “Shawn, do you know who came to the hospital every day to take care of me afterward? Who paid all my medical bills? Who handed me a business card when I was discharged and said, ‘When you’re ready, you can come work at the Lynch Group anytime’?”Shawn’s face was ashen.“This ring.” I took out the wedding ring box from my bag. “I’m returning it to you. By the way, Zack’s proposal ring is ten carats. He said he wanted to make up for all the happiness you owed me.”Zack chuckled softly. “Why bring that up?”“I did it on purpose.” I stood on my toes and kissed him, then turned to Shawn. “You should leave. Don't disturb my life again.”Shawn broke down and shouted, “I’ll die without you!”“Then go die

I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor of the new “Tiana” brand store, watching the workers install the signboard. My phone vibrated. It was a message from Zack: [Made pork chop tonight. Waiting for you to return.]I was about to reply when my assistant knocked and came in.“Ms. Larrinson, there’s someone with the name Mr. Chandler downstairs insisting on seeing you…”My fingers paused, and I did not even look up. “Ask him to leave.”“But he said if you don’t see him, he’ll keep kneeling at the entrance.”I scoffed and closed the design draft. “Let him kneel, then.”Two hours later, after finishing my work, I went downstairs. Sure enough, Shawn was kneeling on the steps outside the store. The once high-spirited Mr. Chandler now looked disheveled, with unshaven stubble and frayed cuffs on his suit sleeves.“Tiana!”The moment he saw me, he staggered to his feet, only to be stopped by security.I gestured for them to step back. “What are you doing,

“Let’s go home, shall we?” Zack asked softly.I nodded, then suddenly remembered something.“Wait. Have the donated clothes been taken care of?”“They’ve already been sorted out. They’ll be delivered to the rural area tomorrow.“Next time, just let the staff handle things like this. You always insist on doing everything yourself.”He kissed my forehead.Even though we had been married for three years, I still blushed.Zack took out his phone and tapped the screen a few times.“You never let me make you and Tessa public before. First, you were afraid that if people found out about her identity, she might be kidnapped or harmed. Second, you prefer to keep a low profile.“However, today, you and Tessa were bullied like that by those blind idiots. This time, I’m definitely going to announce you to the whole world.”As he finished speaking, I saw every large screen across the city light up simultaneously with a family photo of the three of us.Tessa yawned in Zack’s arms. “Daddy,

“Tiana…” Zack’s voice was filled with concern.I shook my head, holding back my tears as I looked at Shawn.“Do you know? I called you 27 times the day I miscarried. You didn’t answer a single one because you were busy spending your wedding night with Jessica in our house!”Zack pulled me into his arms, my tears soaking into his suit.Shawn panicked. “That’s not what happened! I was misled by Jessica! I actually—”“Enough!” Zack cut him off, looking at him as if he were trash. “Mr. Chandler, your so-called true love is to make your pregnant fiancée wear a bridesmaid’s dress and sleep with another woman while she’s miscarrying?”He scoffed. “Even a dog wouldn’t want that kind of love.”Tessa peeked out from Zack’s arms, her little voice soft but firm. “That man is a bad guy! He bullied Mommy!”Shawn’s face turned ashen. He tried to speak, but Jessica suddenly lunged at him like she had gone mad. “Shawn! You liar! You said the one you loved most was me!”The two of them began st

Shawn’s entire face tilted to the side from my slap. “Tiana, you hit me?” He turned back in disbelief. His eyes flared with anger.Maybe it was my imagination, but his voice carried a hint of a choke.Zack frowned and gently rubbed my right hand. “Why did you do it yourself? You’ll hurt your hand.”I met Shawn’s stunned gaze and said coldly, “Shawn, you know exactly how you treated me all those years.”We dated for seven years. In those seven years, whenever it came to choosing between Jessica and me, he always chose her.On our first date, he abandoned me in a torrential downpour for three hours because of a single call from Jessica. I ended up burning with a fever until I fainted. A week before the wedding, I was so weak from morning sickness that I had to lie on the couch. However, he wanted to leave after taking a call. I grabbed his sleeve. “Could you… take me to the hospital? The doctor said the baby isn’t stable.”He shook me off impatiently. “Can't you be a little mor

On the big screen, that family photo was magnified to its fullest. Zack stood in the center holding Tessa, while I leaned against his side. The three of us were smiling happily. The spotlight suddenly shifted to the entrance of the banquet hall. Zack stood there in a perfectly tailored black suit, exuding an imposing presence without even trying. His gaze swept across the room. The moment he saw me being held by security, his expression turned cold.“Tiana.” He strode toward me, looking genuinely concerned. The security guards immediately released me and stepped back. I staggered slightly, but Zack caught me by the waist just in time.“Are you alright?” he asked softly. His eyes met my reddened ones, and his expression darkened. I shook my head and looked anxiously at Tessa. “Shawn is still holding Tessa.”Zack gently squeezed my hand, then turned to Shawn. The two men locked eyes, and the atmosphere was tense.“Shawn, how long do you plan to keep holding my daughter?”Shawn’s
