Blake’s Pov

“Mind if I come in?” I repeated the words again in my head, slower this time, testing them for logic and still finding none. I asked myself if she was crazy, because why in the world would she ask me that or think I would actually indulge that?

I stared at her as I kept my expression neutral, even though my body was tensed like I was standing too close to an electric fence.

She didn’t flinch as she stared back at me. In fact, she looked annoyingly comfortable, standing there like this was some polite social visit, like we were… friends?

No. That wasn’t what this was, and I would never be her friend.

I crossed my arms tighter over my chest and let my gaze slide slowly down and back up, cataloging every inch of her. Impeccable, composed, expensive. Same as always. I didn’t miss the faint smirk tugging at the corner of her lip either, the kind of smirk that came from someone who thought they held the upper hand.

They didn’t.

“Hello, Clarissa,” I said smoothly. I made

Ridge’s PovThe corridors of the hospital smelled of antiseptic and something faintly metallic, but I barely noticed. That wasn’t why I was here today, I was here for something far more important. My heart was pounding too loudly in my chest, a steady thunder that drowned out everything else. Roman was at my side, his hand clapping my shoulder in silent reassurance, though he hadn’t said a word since we left the pack house. He didn’t need to, because his silence was heavy with pride, with relief, and probably the kind of joy I was feeling. And then, I pushed open the door to her room, and I kid you not, just like that, the world stopped. Or at least, that was how it felt for me as I looked into the room. There she was. Blake; my mate, my wife, propped up against pillows, her hair messy, cheeks flushed, and still the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. And in her arms, swaddled in pale blue cloth, was the tiniest human I had ever laid eyes on. My son. My heir. My world. He w

Blake’s PovAfter Clarissa’s secret had been known and made public, she was sent away from the pack house and Nabi was now receiving her punishment, even though I told Ridge he couldn’t blame her all that much. Yes, she played a part, but from what I could tell, Clarissa had manipulated her, just like she manipulated everything else. She was desperate, and I couldn’t bring myself to hate her for that. I was heavily pregnant at this point, but no longer scared as I used to be every time about things. Now, as the sun dipped low and painted the horizon with streaks of orange and gold, I sat on the balcony with Elaine. A plate of fresh fruit sat between us, chilled grapes and slices of melon glistening under the soft light. “You look better,” Elaine said after a long, quiet moment, plucking a grape and popping it into her mouth. “Not so haunted anymore.” I gave a small laugh, low and soft. “That’s because I finally feel like I can breathe again. For a long time, it felt like Clariss

Ridge’s PovClarissa’s eyes dropped, her voice faltering, and the silence that followed grated against my nerves like claws on stone. What in the world was happening right now? What was all of these about? I clenched my jaw, forcing my hands flat against my thighs before they could curl into fists. I hated this feeling, this not knowing. I had lived my life on certainty, on clarity, on control. But right now, there was none of that. Just a mess of unanswered questions and a knot in my chest that wouldn’t loosen. Blake’s theory still rang in my ears. Maybe you slept with someone else, and Clarissa paid them off to collect the baby. It wasn’t possible. It couldn’t be. I would’ve known. I would’ve remembered. And yet, staring at Clarissa twisting her fingers and avoiding everyone’s eyes, doubt clawed at the edges of my mind. “Clarissa,” I said, my voice coming out lower than I intended, a growl beneath the words. “Answer him. When exactly did you realize you were pregnant?” She fl

Blake’s PovThis was some kind of sick joke, because it was either that, or the doctor we went to for the DNA testing had been gotten to. That was the only explanation at this point with the way he kept insisting on things. “I tested it several times like I said but it’s not a match, so this is not about whether or not it’s a mistake from my end.” The doctor said. I looked back at Julia, the confused look right there on her face as well. I didn’t think this was going to get here, and if I was being honest, I didn’t think I would be this confused at something like this. At this point, I wasn’t just confused, I was lost. “But it was her hair brush you took, she used that room alone since she decided to come to the pack house from Elaine’s place.” I said, but in reality, I was asking, even though I didn’t phrase it as a question. Julia nodded her head. “Yes, Blake. It was her brush, and I’m sure of it. The hair on it was Clarissa’s so…” she said, trailing off, seeming like she wa

Ridge’s PovThe door creaked open before Elder Uriah could arrive, and Clarissa slipped in like she was some creep. Her sharp eyes flicked across the room, lingering on the doctor before narrowing on me. “What’s going on here?” she asked, suspicion dripping from every word. Of course, she would be suspicious. She was by nature and even I was a bit suspicious as to what was going on. Still, I didn’t need her acting out right here. I clenched my jaw. The last thing I wanted was her turning this into a scene before I even knew what the hell was happening. With a curt wave of my hand, I gestured to the empty chair. “Don’t ask questions, Clarissa. This is a meeting you’re needed in. Sit.” She froze like she wanted to argue, but something in my expression must have warned her off, because she perched stiffly on the edge of the seat, arms folded, lips pinched. Moments later, the door opened again, and Elder Uriah stepped inside with her usual calm grace. She gave a polite nod to everyo

Ridge’s PovWhen Henry walked into my office to tell me a man came to ask for Julia and Blake, I was surprised because Blake never mentioned someone coming to visit, but then I told myself it was probably because she didn’t know, and Julia might not either. After what happened with Ryder, the last thing I wanted to happen was another intruder peeking around. It had only been just a few days ago we finished cleaning and mending things around here, and I sure wasn’t in another mood for any more war and fights. Deciding to go check it out, I rounded up what I was doing, but as soon as I stood up from behind my desk, I heard the elevator door open door the hall and the shuffling of feet towards my office. The door of my office was slightly left open, but that wasn’t why I could hear it so loud and clear. Three sets of footsteps, coming this way as they echoed against the floor. Then I started to hear voices, and I recognized the first two, but I wasn’t sure if the third voice, o
