Chapter Twenty
Knowing I couldn't ignore Mitch too long or he would become an obstacle to my mission, I took a moment to compose myself and then answered the call.
"Lilith, I'm not excited about you disregarding my calls." Mitch's robust voice echoed into my ear, and I felt my heart sink.
"I need you to stop calling me," I said, striving to keep my voice stable.
"But I don't want to."
"I really don't give a damn about what you want, Mitch! Just stop with the calls!"
The line grew quiet for a few seconds. Then Mitch's voice flowed into my ear, sounding mad, "Is it because of your new toy! What's his name? Ah, Atlas, it is, right?"
"Keep his name out of this because you know very well why I need you to stay the hell away from me!" I lashed out.
