ログインELISHA POV
It's been two weeks since I started working here, and I can honestly say it hasn't been easy, especially with my boss. But if he thinks he can make me give up, then he's mistaken.
I was on my way back to my desk with a cup of coffee when I overheard several employees talking. It looked like they were working overtime too.
"This is so tiring."
"I didn't expect we'd have overtime today; I thought it was next week."
"And you know what? I kinda feel sorry for his new secretary. She needs to finish all the documents given to her every single day. And it’s not a few files only. Imagine that?”
"Exactly! I'm sure she won't even last a month. And she’ll resign.”
When I returned to my workstation, I frowned after seeing another stack of documents waiting on my desk.
Is my boss doing this on purpose?
I let out a sigh before sitting down.
A sticky note was attached to the documents.
‘You need to finish this report. I need it by tomorrow.’
He needs it tomorrow, yet he only gave it to me now?
At this point, I was convinced he was making my life difficult on purpose.
I'd already finished about half of my workload.
I had lost count of how many cups of coffee I'd drunk just to keep myself awake. There weren't many people left in the office anymore.
Only Caden, the accounting department, and I are still here in the company working.
While organizing the contracts and invoices, something caught my attention.
One supplier...
But two invoices?
How did that happen?
Was it just an error?
I searched through the other files related to that supplier to make sure before bringing it to Caden's attention.
CADEN POV
I quietly stepped out of my office to check whether Elisha was still awake or if she'd fallen asleep at her desk.
I knew I'd been hard on her from the very beginning.
But I had to.
It was part of my way of testing her.
Every employee who worked under me had gone through the same thing.
I saw her staring intently at the documents in front of her.
Judging from the expression on her face, she seemed to be searching for something.
"Finally! I found it!" she exclaimed.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
She flinched in surprise.
"S-Sir... How long have you been standing there?"I shook my head.
"I just came out to check whether you were still working or if you'd already gone home."
"As if I'd leave without telling you."
"So?"
She handed me several documents.
I looked at them in confusion.
"Take a look at these files," she said. "I noticed something strange earlier, so I checked everything one by one."
"And?"
"Our finance department approved the same supplier twice."
I immediately examined the documents she'd given me.
"This can't be... How did this happen?"
"If those contracts get signed tomorrow, the company will lose a huge amount of money.
They'll end up paying the same supplier twice."I immediately returned to my office and ordered someone to call the head of finance.
How could they make such a careless mistake?
What if Elisha hadn't found it?
Fifty million wasn't a small amount of money.
"S-Sir... You wanted to see me?"I looked up as the head of finance entered.
Without saying a word, I threw the documents onto his desk."What are these?" he asked.
"See for yourself."
He quickly scanned the documents.
A second later, his eyes widened.
"S-Sir..."
"Can you explain that?" I asked calmly. "One supplier. Two invoices."
"I'm sorry, Sir. We overlooked it."
"Sorry?" My voice remained calm, but every word carried weight. "Do you have any idea how much money this company would've lost if Elisha hadn't caught this? What if the contracts had already been signed and the payment had gone through? Could you get that money back?"
"I-I'm really sorry, Sir. I'll take care of it immediately."
The panic in his voice was obvious.
"Make sure you do. If this isn't resolved before tomorrow, you already know what will happen."
"Y-Yes, Sir."
He hurried out of my office.
I hated it when people made careless mistakes.
Fifty million wasn't something to joke about. Even though my company was already successful, I refused to waste money. The office door opened again.
I looked up and saw Elisha standing there with a small smile, holding a cup of coffee.
"What do you want?" I asked. "If you're asking to go home, then go."
She walked over and quietly placed the coffee on my desk.
Without saying anything else, she turned to leave.
"Elisha."
She stopped and looked back.
"Yes, Sir? Do you need something?"
I met her eyes.
"Thank you."
A brief pause.
"And... good job."
ELISHA POVThe next morning, when I arrived at the company, I overheard several employees whispering about me."Have you heard the news?""What news? I went home early yesterday.""Our CEO praised his new secretary.""Really? That's so unusual.""Right?""How did that happen?""No one knows... unless there's something going on between them behind office hours."One of them suddenly noticed me.Her eyes widened in panic, and she quickly nudged the others.Too late. Now they wanted to stop talking after I'd already heard everything?Typical toxicity.I walked straight toward them."If you're going to talk about me, at least make sure I don't hear it, especially if you don't have the courage to say it to my face.""Elisha...""Oh? Do you still have something to say? Since I've already heard everything, why don't you finish what you were saying? Go ahead. Say it right here in front of me. Don't be cowards.""Elisha, we were just talking," one of them insisted."You think I'm stupid?" I sh

CADEN POV"None of the applicants meet the company's standards. Are you sure you've thoroughly checked all the documents they submitted?" I asked one of my employees."I-I'm sorry, Sir. I reviewed every single application, and they're all qualified for the position.""Are you sure?" I asked, noticing him swallow nervously. "Then why hasn't anyone passed?""I'm sorry, Sir...""Your apology won't change anything. Leave."I rubbed my temples in frustration after he left.I couldn't understand why people kept forcing their way into this company when they should already know they didn't stand a chance.A few minutes later, my phone rang.I answered it immediately."S-Sir...""Yes?""We still have one applicant left, and she’s at the balcony right now.”"Tell that person to make it quick. If he or she can't make it here within three minutes, reject the application," I said.ELISHA POVI slapped my forehead in frustration when the elevator suddenly stopped.Unlucky day indeed.Of all the tim
ELISHA POVI couldn't help but smile as I looked around at my employees and the guests enjoying the resort. It had been three years since my parents passed away.I still didn't know how I had managed to survive those years without them.None of it had been easy.Every single day felt like I was in a dark place, unable to find my way out.I didn't know what to do, where to start my life again, or how to move forward after everything that happened to me.My parents already trained me on how to handle our business, but I know I’m still not ready to face it without them. But I don’t have any choice now. I need to handle everything because they’re gone. And I don’t want their hard work to get ruined.I'm so grateful to our employees. They were among the people who helped me get to where I am today."You built this business on your own," Yana said.I shook my head."I didn't. My parents did.""I'm so proud of you, Eli. You've been so brave these past three years. I can't even imagine the pa
ELISHA POVI knelt before my parents' graves, tears streaming down my face. Even now, I still didn't know how to accept that they were gone.I didn't know how to make myself accept the truth that the two most important people in my life were no longer here."Mom... Dad... I don't know how I'm supposed to start over knowing that you're both gone. It's so hard... because I was so used to having you by my side that I never had to worry about anything. But now that you're gone... what am I supposed to do?" I whispered softly."You didn't even prepare me for something like this. You didn't leave me any sign, did you? I have so many goals in life that I wanted to achieve with both of you, but heaven is so cruel to me and didn’t give me any chance to do it.” "If I'm hurting right now, then please just let me grieve. I-I don't know how long I'll mourn for you. But I promise both of you that I'll live a happy life, and I'll take good care of everything you left behind for me. Because I know a
ELISHA POV“Mom! Dad! ” I cried as I repeatedly screamed their names. I wanted to run inside, but I couldn't because the people around me were holding me back.“Let me go! "I shouted.“Ma'am, the fire is too strong. You can't go inside because you might get hurt as well,” one of them said.“They're still inside! My parents are there! Please, save them.” My voice was almost gone from all the screaming. It took several hours before the fire was finally put out.I saw one of the firefighters and immediately approached her.“How are my parents? Did you see them? Are they safe? "I asked, trembling. She lowered her head.“I'm sorry.”“W-what? What do you mean, sorry? ” I said, my voice shaking. Then I noticed her fellow firefighters. They suddenly became restless, and I quickly ran toward them.“Mommy... Daddy...” I whispered weakly.I screamed in overwhelming anger and pain until I collapsed. The next thing I knew, I woke up in the hospital and saw my mother's sister.“Auntie...” I called.
