Sophia’s pov

I hadn’t even finished my club breakfast when I dragged Lydia through the gleaming glass doors of one of the most expensive boutiques downtown.

The air smelled like it here, exclusive. Some light floral scent covering up the scent of money.

While I walked into the halls, her shoes make clicking sounds that drew attention to us as I frowned.

I looked back to see her clutching her cheap bag like she was afraid someone would steal from her.

Fucking pathetic.

“Relax,” I snapped without bothering to look at her again as I turned forward. “You’re with me. No one’s going to ask you to leave… unless you keep moving like you don’t belong.”

She jerked, then attempted to straighten her spine, lifting her chin an inch, but it wasn’t enough. I inhaled slowly and deeply before exhaling.

A sales woman in sleek black glided over, her eyes sparkling at the sight of me. “Miss Sophia,” she said in a smile, “what a delight it is to see you this morning. What can I do for you today?”

Sophia’s povThe china clinked faintly as I sliced into the fluffy omelet on my plate. I was eating breakfast, sipping coffee, when one of the servers crouched down casually to murmur discreetly so that other diners would not overhear."Miss Sophia... there's a lady wanting you."I used a linen napkin to pat my lips. “A woman?”“Yes. Ma’am. Her name is Lydia.”I nodded and leaned back in my seat as I tilted my head. Lydia huh. Finally. I was thinking she would stand me up but hey… she was here.“Show her straight through.” I replied, my voice sharp but steady. The server nodded and retreated. Slowly I sat back, stirred the drink with a spoon though I wasn’t thirsty.I closed my eyes and thought of something that I wasn’t supposed to think about. Would she come this morning and surprise me?Would she be all dressed in dignity?I don’t know what was thinking but when she showed up, she was worse than I was expecting. She wasn’t hideous, no. But she was painfully… ordinary. Mid-aged, tim

Lydia’s povI changed my clothes multiple times until I wearing my expensive outfit.I threw on my bag, shoved my phone in it, and made my way out. A taxi was waiting at the side. I got in, told the driver the address Sophia had texted me earlier, and reclined myself behind. While the drive seemed longer than it had to be, I held my breathing and calmed myself with every block we passed. The nearer we were getting to that neighborhood the more polished I could see this place was. This was the big man’s place. The sidewalks were too smooth. The tree's barks trimmed like they had been sculpted by artists. Cars that probably cost up to three times of how much my actual apartment costs home.I seriously didn’t belong here. The cab came to a stop outside some very large gates and I felt my stomach fall, the driver whistled low. “You sure this is the place?”“Y… yeah,” I muttered and got out as I paid him and the man drove off.Two huge guards came to me.“Who are you and what do you want?”

Lydia’s povI sat in my couch flicking through each station as I watched what was on television.I was sitting there with my legs tucked under me, staring at the glass of wine on the table that I hadn’t touched in an hour. My head was still buzzing from meeting Dennis. The way he has looked at me and talked to me like I wasn’t anything important. I hated him for that. I hated that he had seen me for less. That he could look at me and act like I was nothing. I was the one who was supposed to treat him like that and not the other way around. My phone buzzed next to me, lighting the darkness of the room. For a second I thought it might be him, maybe he was returning my call, maybe he was even apologizing, and then I remembered who we were dealing with here. But still. I could dream right?I reached to it as I saw and Unknown number.I almost ignored it, but I was curious. I swiped and put it to my ear.“Hello?”There was a silence, and then a calm, female voice said, “Is this Lydia?”I f

Dennis’s povBy the time I walked out into the hall, he was waiting outside by the car. Tapping his foot like I had taken some ridiculous amount of time instead of ten minutes. He was wearing dark jeans and a white button up with rolled up sleeves because, of course he did. He looked like he belonged in a magazine.“Finally,” he said, smirking.I gave him a side eye glare. “Personally, I would have liked to just stay in. I don’t know why I’m doing this.”He smiled. “I’m lucky for a lot of reasons.”And damn him, my heart did that stupid flutter again. He opened the door as we both got into the back and sat down as the driver took us to the place we should go to.I looked out of the window watching city lights fly by, trying not to think hard.“Pizza then what?” He finally spoke up.I shrugged. “I don’t know. Back home I guess. Hope you’re not thinking of doing anything else.”He smiled. “I’m thinking of doing a lot. But I don’t know. It doesn’t help when you’re all locked up inside.”

Alex’s povThe whole drive back home, her words were stuck in my head. They dug at me like a thorn I couldn’t take out. Sophia… Always that smug little smile like she knew me better than I did myself. The way she said it… like my whole life with Dennis was some phase. Some delusion.“I refuse to believe you are gay,” she had laughed it off, like it was some joke I told myself. The thing was, I didn’t give a crap if she believed me or not. It was that look she gave me. Like what Dennis and I had wasn’t real. How dare she? She has no idea who we were and what we did.I could feel my insides burning with anger. Right now I needed Dennis and I needed his hold and kiss. The moment we got home, I jumped out of the car before the driver could turn off the car and I rushed into the house. All I wanted to do was see him.“Dennis!”I barked out for him as soon as I entered, the sound harsher than I’d intended. The butler appeared from God knows where, giving his customary half bow before sayin
