The morning sun flooded through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the St. Regis penthouse suite, illuminating a massive glass dining table littered with legal briefs, financial portfolios, and architectural blueprints.

Aria sat at the head of the table, wearing a crisp ivory blazer over tailored trousers. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek, professional ponytail. Across from her, Marcus was typing frantically on a laptop, while two high-profile attorneys reviewed stack after stack of corporate disclosures.

"The press credentials are fully vetted," Marcus said, looking up from his screen. "We’ve got sixty major outlets confirmed for the ten o'clock broadcast, including three international art journals. If Julian tries to pull a power move, it’ll happen in front of live cameras."

"Let him try," Aria said softly, taking a sip of black coffee. "He’s used to controlling the narrative because no one ever challenges him publicly. The moment this foundation launches under my alias, his legal team won't be able to touch the original 'Phoenix' collection without exposing Chloe's fraud."

"Mommy," Maya called out, trotting into the dining room wearing a small yellow dress and carrying a stuffed rabbit. "Leo is doing weird things to the television."

Aria turned in her chair as Leo walked in behind his sister, holding his silver tablet.

"I'm not doing weird things," Leo said calmly, hopping onto a dining chair next to Aria. "I hijacked the hotel’s localized cable frequency, Look."

He tapped the screen once. The wall-mounted high-definition television flickered, switching from a morning news broadcast to a live outdoor feed of the St. Regis hotel driveway below.

Parked right outside the main glass doors was a convoy of three sleek black SUVs. A swarm of reporters had already gathered around the perimeter, their microphones raised.

"He’s thirty minutes early," Marcus noted, leaning forward to check the screen. "Julian doesn't do early unless he’s going for a neck-bleed maneuver."

"He’s not here for the press," Aria said, watching the lead SUV's door swing open on the screen.

Julian stepped out onto the pavement. He looked impeccably sharp in a midnight-blue charcoal suit, his dark tie pulled tight against his crisp white collar. But even through the digital monitor, Aria could see the dark circles under his eyes and the dangerous, volatile energy in his posture. He didn't wait for his security detail; he strode straight past the flashing camera lights and pushed through the hotel entrance.

Aria stood up, buttoning her blazer. "Marcus, take the kids into the master bedroom. Keep the inner door locked until the press conference starts."

"Aria, you shouldn't be alone in this room with him," Marcus warned, standing up too. "He’s desperate and a desperate billionaire with unlimited resources doesn't play by courtroom rules."

"He won't touch me in a room full of corporate attorneys," Aria replied smoothly, gesturing toward the two lawyers who were already packing their leather briefcases. "Besides, I've waited five years to look him in the eye on equal footing."

Leo looked up at Aria, his young face unusually serious. "I left the audio receiver active on his car's system, Mommy. If he tries to lock you out of your network, I can wipe his central server."

Aria melted slightly, reaching down to kiss the top of Leo's head. "Thank you, my little protector. But let Mommy handle the grown-up work today."

Marcus led the twins into the back suite, closing the heavy mahogany door behind them.

Ten seconds later, the penthouse entrance doors swung open without a knock.

Julian stepped into the foyer. He didn't look at the two attorneys standing near the table, nor did he look at the luxury decor. His eyes locked onto Aria like a guided missile, sweeping over her tailored outfit, her calm demeanor, and the absolute absence of fear in her expression.

"Leave us," Julian said, his voice quiet, low, and terrifyingly cold as he addressed the two lawyers.

The senior attorney cleared his throat. "Mr. Vance, this is a private suite rented by—"

"I said leave," Julian repeated, not shifting his gaze from Aria by a single millimeter.

Aria gave her legal team a small, reassuring nod. "It's fine, gentlemen. Wait for me in the lobby. We’ll go down together at 9:50."

The attorneys gathered their folders and slipped out the door, leaving the heavy silence of the penthouse to settle between Julian and Aria.

Julian took three slow, deliberate steps into the room. He stopped near the edge of the glass table, his breathing heavy and uneven.

"You have twins," he said. It wasn't a question. His voice was cracked, raw with a strange mixture of absolute fury and crushing despair.

Aria leaned against the edge of the table, crossing her arms casually. "I see your security team managed to locate basic international birth records. Efficient as always, Julian."

"Why?" Julian demanded, his fist clenching so hard against his side that the fabric of his sleeve strained. "Why didn't you tell me? The night of the gala... you knew you were carrying my children!"

"I tried to tell you," Aria said, her voice dropping into a smooth, deadly calm. "I stood in that ballroom holding a positive test in my bag. I asked you for two minutes of your time outside."

Julian froze, a sudden physical flinch passing through his broad shoulders.

"Do you remember what you said to me, Julian?" Aria continued, tilting her head slightly as she watched him. "You told me to stop making a scene. You told me to go sit at the table like a good little trophy, while you put your hand on Chloe's back and gave her my life's work on live television."

"I didn't know!" Julian shouted, the harsh sound echoing off the high ceilings of the penthouse. He took two fast steps toward her, stopping just short of the table. "If I had known you were pregnant—"

"If you had known, you would have treated me like a gilded incubator!" Aria cut in sharply, her eyes flashing with a sudden, lethal fire that made Julian pause. "You wouldn't have loved me. You wouldn't have respected me. You would have trapped me in that hollow estate, used my children to secure your grandfather's inheritance shares, and kept Chloe as your dirty little public secret!"

Julian stared at her, his jaw working silently as if her words were physical blows tearing into his chest.

"That's not true," he rasped out, though his voice lacked conviction.

"It is completely true," Aria said, walking slowly around the table until she stood just three feet away from him. "You didn't see me as a human being, Julian. You saw me as an asset you owned under a prenuptial contract. So I severed the contract. I died and the woman standing in front of you today doesn't owe you a single explanation, a single second of access, or a single child."

Julian swallowed hard, his eyes burning as he looked down at her. "They carry my blood, Aria. I saw Leo. He looks at me with my own eyes. You can't erase me from their lives."

"I don't need to erase you," Aria replied, a cold, mocking smile playing on her lips. "To them, you don't exist. Their father is a non-factor. Marcus has been more of a father to those kids in four years than you could ever dream of being."

Julian’s face went pale, his dark eyes darkening into something wild and dangerous. "Marcus?" he hissed, taking another step forward, closing the distance between them until he was looming over her. "You brought that doctor into my home? You’ve been living with him?"

"Who I live with is none of your business," Aria said smoothly, not backing down an inch. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a press conference to attend."

She turned to walk past him toward the bedroom door, but Julian reached out, his long fingers wrapping firmly around her forearm.

"You aren't going down to that lobby," Julian said, his tone dropping into a possessive, dark command. "You think partnering with the Sterling Group's rivals is going to protect you? I will buy out their entire parent company by noon. I will tie up every single penny of your new foundation in legal injunctions for the next ten years."

Aria looked down at his hand on her arm, then looked back up into his eyes with absolute disdain.

"Go ahead," she whispered softly. "Do it. Show the entire world how pathetic you are, Julian. Attack a mother and her art foundation because she refused to be your quiet little victim."

Julian’s grip loosened slightly, his chest heaving as her words hit home.

Before he could respond, the master bedroom door clicked open.

Maya walked out, holding her stuffed rabbit by one ear. She stopped near the edge of the hallway, her small face scowling as she looked at Julian’s hand wrapped around her mother’s arm.

"Let go of my Mommy," Maya said. Her voice was small, but remarkably clear and fearless.

Julian’s head snapped toward the child. His heart slammed against his ribs.

Unlike Leo, who had inherited his sharp, intense features, Maya looked like a perfect mini-version of Aria, dark curls, big expressive eyes, and a stubborn chin.

"Maya..." Julian breathed out, his hand instantly dropping from Aria's arm as if he had been burned. He dropped to his knees right there on the rug, his voice cracking as he held out a trembling hand toward the little girl. "Maya... sweetie..."

Maya didn't move toward him. She walked straight past him, grabbed Aria’s hand, and pulled her toward the doorway.

"Mommy, Uncle Marcus said it's time to go downstairs," Maya said, deliberately ignoring Julian as if he were invisible furniture. "The cameras are ready."

Julian stayed on his knees, watching the little girl lead Aria toward the suite's private elevator foyer. The sight of his daughter treating him like a complete stranger tore through his chest with a excruciating, agonizing pain he had never felt in his entire life.

Aria paused at the elevator doors, looking back over her shoulder at the powerful CEO kneeling on the floor of her suite.

"Enjoy the broadcast, Julian," Aria said softly as the elevator doors slid open. "Because this is only the first piece of your life I'm taking back."

She stepped inside with Maya, the polished steel doors sliding shut between them.

Julian sat alone on the floor for a long minute, his hands resting on his knees, his head bowed. The quiet of the penthouse was deafening.

Slowly, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. His fingers were shaking as he hit speed-dial.

"Mark," Julian said, his voice flat, hollow, and terrifyingly focused.

"Yes, Mr. Vance? Did you clear the suite?"

"Call our legal team," Julian ordered, standing up slowly and adjusting his jacket with cold precision. "Tell them to prepare a motion for emergency court-ordered DNA testing and temporary custody restraints."

"Sir..." Mark hesitated over the phone. "If we file for forced custody on a public figure like Nyx right after her launch, the media backlash against Vance Enterprise will drop our stock by at least fifteen percent."

Julian looked out the high window at the city below, his dark eyes filled with an obsessive, unrelenting determination.

"I don't care if the stock drops to zero," Julian whispered into the line. "Burn the company to the ground if you have to. I'm taking my children back."

The rain poured heavily outside as the black SUV cut through the downtown traffic. Inside the cabin, the air felt suffocatingly tense.Aria leaned over the center console, staring at the flashing red warning light on Leo’s laptop screen. Her fingers were cold, pressed flat against the dark leather of her seat."Leo, check the IP address again," Aria said, keeping her tone measured and controlled. "Are you sure it isn't an automatic update from the building's server?"Leo’s small fingers flew across the keyboard. "It’s not an update, Mom. Updates come through the building's local hub in New York. This command was routed through a proxy server in Frankfurt. Someone manually disarmed the primary deadbolts on the penthouse.""Can you re-engage the locks remotely?" Marcus asked from the front passenger seat, turning his head back to look at them."I tried," Leo muttered, his brow furrowing as he hit a sequence of keys. "The line is jammed. They didn't just unlock it; they severed the conne

We'll be in the air soon.""No, it's not traffic," Leo said, his voice completely flat. "I checked the air traffic control feed on my tablet. Two private jets

The flashbulbs outside the Vance Enterprise building were so dense they created a continuous, blinding sheet of white light. Rain drizzled over the morning commute, but the weather had done nothing to disperse the crowd of reporters, camera crews, and private security guards choking the grand entrance. Inside the glass-walled executive foyer, Julian Vance stood with his hands jammed deep into his suit pockets. His jaw was clenched so tight the muscle beneath his skin twitched continuously. "Mr. Vance, the legal team is waiting in Conference Room A," his assistant, David, murmured, keeping his eyes fixed on his tablet. "The press release regarding the gallery event has already been drafted, but..." "Cancel the press release," Julian cut in. His voice was low, rasping from a night spent without a single minute of sleep. David paused, blinking. "Sir? The media is running wild with the photos from last night. They’re calling 'Nyx' a ghost. The stock market is already reacting to th

The silence in the narrow hallway of the mezzanine felt almost physical.Julian didn't move, he couldn't. His gaze was glued to the small boy standing in front of Aria. Everything about the child from the shape of his brow to the stubborn line of his chin, was an undeniable mirror image of Julian’s own childhood photographs."Leo," Aria said quietly, her voice dropping into a gentle, motherly tone that Julian had never heard her use before. She placed a hand lightly on the boy’s small shoulder, gently pulling him back behind her emerald gown. "It's fine, sweetie. Go back inside with Marcus and your sister.""He's bothering you," Leo insisted, his dark eyebrows still knitted together as he glared up at Julian. He didn't look scared of the towering billionaire in front of him; he looked annoyed. "I heard him yelling from inside.""I wasn't yelling, son," Julian said, the word son slipping out of his throat before his brain could stop it. His voice was hoarse, thick with a sudden wave of

The baseline hum of chatter and clinking champagne flutes filled the atrium of the Grand Horizon Gallery.Aria stood on the second-floor mezzanine, leaning lightly against the glass railing. Five years had smoothed away the hesitant girl who used to flinch at Julian’s quiet dismissals. She wore a fitted emerald-green dress, her dark hair falling in loose waves over one shoulder."Mommy, my shoes are too shiny," a quiet voice piped up from beside her.Aria looked down at four-year-old Leo. He was wearing a dark navy blazer over a crisp white shirt, pulling lightly at his tiny bow tie. His dark hair was combed back neatly, framing a face with sharp features and striking gray-blue eyes."They're supposed to be shiny, sweetie," Aria said, kneeling to adjust his collar. "It's a special night.""He just wants to go home and play with his tablet," four-year-old Maya chimed in, stepping out from behind Aria. Maya wore a white tulle dress, her dark curls bouncing as she crossed her arms. "I to
