Darren felt his heartbeat quicken upon hearing Ms. Vina’s response. “To my father’s account?” he asked for confirmation. Bu Vina nodded in response. “I don’t think that’s possible. All of my father’s accounts have been transferred to my name. Everything concerning the company has been handed over to me.”
Ms. Vina looked at Darren with a confused expression. “But the financial reports show funds flowing into your father’s account. The company profits are divided into two, sixty percent and forty percent. Both accounts are under Mr. Harison’s name.”
Darren felt a surge of unease. “If everything has been transferred to me, how could funds still flow into my father’s account? Something isn’t right here, Ms. Vina. This means the company’s net income isn’t just going to me, but also to that account.”
Outside, thunder roared, and rain began to pour heavily, its sound mirroring the tension in the air. The atmosphere in the restaurant grew slightly ominous.
A notification appeared on Darren’s phone. He checked it. It was a message from Keisha, “Darren, tomorrow I’ll deliver my job application. Wish me luck!”
Darren’s expression changed slightly. He suddenly realized the number he had given Keisha was his personal number as Darren. A wave of worry crossed his mind but quickly passed as he began formulating a plan.
“Ms. Vina, I’ll handle the matter of the second account. I want you to help me place an acquaintance of mine in the company headquarters. I don’t want anyone in the company to know that I recommended them. It would be even better if no one knew you helped them either.”
“Alright, Mr. Darren. I’ll take care of it!”
After their final exchange, the two enjoyed the meal they had ordered. Not long after, they left the restaurant. Darren, accompanied by a chauffeur, drove his luxury car to a relatively secluded area. He made a phone call as they traveled.
“Sir, stop here!” Darren instructed.
The car stopped. The chauffeur quickly got out, opening the door for Darren. Darren thanked him as he stepped out of the vehicle.
Not long after, a rugged man dressed in all black with a leather jacket arrived on an old motorbike Darren’s usual disguise. His sunglasses added to his intimidating aura, his expression hard and resolute.
The man stopped his motorbike not far from Darren, approached him, and bowed respectfully. He then handed the motorbike key to Darren.
“Tell ‘Spy Eye’ to prepare the documents to consolidate the company accounts into one under my name. I also want him to take control of the company’s second account and investigate all its transactions!”
“Understood, sir!”
Darren’s words were firm. The man responded with utmost respect before departing. Darren then left the scene on the old motorbike, returning to his modest apartment as Kemal Halim.
The following day, Keisha arrived at the headquarters of Anugerah Langit Corporation. She took a moment to greet Darren, disguised as a security guard. After a brief conversation, Darren directed her to meet the company’s HR manager.
Keisha met the manager, Mr. Heru, and submitted her application documents. After reviewing them, Mr. Heru nodded approvingly.
“This is an impressive CV. I believe you deserve an opportunity to work here. Are you ready to start today?” he asked.
Keisha beamed with joy and eagerly accepted the offer. After a lengthy administrative process, Keisha was finally seated at her new desk amidst the bustling environment of the Finance Department, surrounded by the sounds of keyboard clattering and the murmurs of focused colleagues.
Shortly afterward, a neatly dressed middle aged man, around 45 years old, called her over. “Keisha, come into my office for a moment,” said Mr. Jaya, the Finance Department Manager, in a firm tone.
Keisha followed him into his office. Once the door closed, the atmosphere became formal. Mr. Jaya sat behind a large wooden desk, studying Keisha with a probing look.
“Welcome to the Finance Department. I hope you’re ready for this job,” Mr. Jaya said, though his tone hinted at skepticism. “There’s something I’d like to ask you.”
Keisha smiled and nodded respectfully. “What is it, sir?”
“I don’t understand how you were placed here so quickly. This is quite an important position, yet I don’t see sufficient work experience in your background.”
A wave of tension hit Keisha. “I don’t understand it myself, sir. I just followed a friend’s advice to apply here. Mr. Kemal, the security guard, suggested I try,” she replied calmly.
Mr. Jaya stared at her intently as if trying to discern the truth behind her words. He had already investigated her background and found no connections to any influential figures in the company.
“Do you really not know?”
Keisha nodded firmly. “I honestly have no idea.”
Her sincerity seemed to ease the tension in the room slightly. Mr. Jaya returned to his files, then sighed heavily.
“Alright, Keisha. I’ll give you a chance. But remember, there’s room for no mistakes here. Work diligently, and don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it.”
“Thank you, sir. I’ll do my best,” Keisha replied, feeling somewhat relieved.
After their meeting, Keisha returned to her desk, determined to make a good impression. She had, after all, spoken the truth.
One Week Later
“Mr. Baron, urgent news!”
“What is it?”
Baron’s voice was sharp. He had been busy at the branch office when he received a call from the headquarters’ Head Manager. The caller’s nervous tone made him uneasy.
“All the company’s financial accounts have been transferred. Mr. Darren has created a new company account, replacing the old ones. All company transactions will now go through the new account. Even the owner’s profit account has changed it’s now solely under Mr. Darren’s name.”
“What?! How could this happen? Why wasn’t I informed beforehand?” Baron barked.
Nervously, Leo, the Head Manager, explained that everything had been done swiftly and directly by Darren’s lawyer. No one dared to protest, as it was entirely within the rights of the company’s owner.
“Hmmm… that boy is truly troublesome. I didn’t expect him to be this clever. But on the second account he won’t be able to take control of that. There’s a significant amount of money stored there!” Baron said, a smug grin forming.
“N-no, Mr. Baron. That account has also been taken over. We can no longer access it…”
Baron’s expression turned grim.
BANG!
“Damn it!” he cursed, slamming his desk. “That brat dared to declare war on me! I’ll make sure he meets the same fate as his father,” he growled, his eyes burning with rage as he ended the call.
At the Anugerah Langit Corporation branch office in Bandung, Baron sat in the large chair behind his desk, visibly uneasy. His thoughts were focused on Nadine’s assistant, who was supposed to have been silenced. Then, he heard footsteps outside his office. His two trusted men, Anton and Rudi, entered with guilty expressions, wearing their signature all-black outfits and dark sunglasses typically used during covert missions.“Forgive us, Mr. Baron,” Anton said apologetically. “We failed the task. Miss Nadine’s assistant is not in the police jail as we were informed.”Rudi nodded, adding, “We checked every cell, but there’s no sign of her.”Baron narrowed his eyes in anger. “Are you sure you checked properly? Are you absolutely certain she’s not there?” His voice echoed in the room, brimming with disappointment.“We’re sure, sir,” Anton replied. “We even confirmed with the guards. There’s no one matching the description of Miss Nadine’s assistant in custody.”Baron exhaled deeply, tryin
Darren raised an eyebrow, staring sharply at Nadine. "Of course, I approve, Mrs. Nadine," he said firmly.Nadine jumped, her eyes widening in surprise. "Approval from you, Kemal? How could I report this to the board just based on the permission of an ordinary employee?Darren smirked coldly. "Mrs. Nadine, it seems you've forgotten. I'm not just an ordinary employee. I am the CEO of this company," he said, his gaze filled with authority.Nadine's expression changed drastically. Panic crossed her face as she realized that the person she had been underestimating was the CEO appointed by the company’s owner. It was as though her defenses crumbled in an instant. Her face turned pale, but she tried to regain control. "Are you the one who has the right to give permission?" she stammered.Darren simply nodded slightly. "That's correct, Mrs. Nadine. All activities of this company are under my control. Now, let's review the CCTV footage so we can all know the truth."With a trembling voice and
Darren stared at Rocky and the four other employees with calm composure. "I understand you feel a sense of incompatibility, but you know, finding stable employment out there isn’t easy. Here, you already have good positions, decent incomes, and a conducive work environment. Are you willing to give it all up just because of provocation from someone who wants to see this company fall?"Rocky and the others fell silent, their gazes shifting as they reconsidered their decisions."The person provoking you knows that my leadership will bring significant changes, changes that won’t benefit them. They want to exploit your emotions to weaken this company. But I’m not here just to lead; I’m here to make this company stronger, and I want your welfare to improve as the company grows."Darren's words seemed to strike a chord. Some of them looked down, contemplating his message, while Rocky sighed, clearly reevaluating his choice."Thank you for your time. If you decide to stay, I hope you’ll fully
Darren drove his car out of the Anugerah Langit Corporation office building, his sharp eyes scanning every detail of the deserted road. His mood was still filled with satisfaction after his appointment as CEO, a move that cornered Nadine and dealt a blow to Baron. However, he knew Baron and his son wouldn’t stay idle after this.As he turned sharply on a quiet road leading to his house, a loud explosion suddenly came from the right side of his car. The front right tire burst, causing the vehicle to lose balance instantly. The car’s high speed made it veer dangerously toward the guardrail.Darren gripped the steering wheel tightly, his body tense but his mind focused. Realizing this was an act of sabotage, he quickly turned the wheel to the left to stabilize the car’s position. His heart pounded, but he kept his panic in check to maintain control. He took a deep breath and gradually reduced the speed, trying to prevent the car from spinning out of control. By then, the front brakes wer
"Alright, I'll meet her shortly," Darren said to the staff. The woman then left Darren's office, leaving him deep in thought, trying to guess what the baron’s daughter had planned.Darren decided to confront Nadine cautiously. He knew all too well that she tended to be arrogant and aggressive. Being the Baron's daughter, Nadine was used to getting everything she wanted. Darren took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself. He knew that even a single emotional misstep could ruin his cover and derail the carefully crafted plans he had laid out. When he arrived at Nadine’s office, he knocked lightly on the door, and from inside came her cold voice, “Come in!”Darren pushed the door open and stepped inside. Nadine stood arrogantly in front of her desk, eyeing Darren from head to toe. She did not invite him to sit, a clear attempt to control the emotional dynamic of the room.“From now on, I will lead this company,” Nadine began confidently. “Ms. Vina? She’s as good as fired. So make sure
Darren collapsed onto the sofa in his apartment. The day had been exhausting, filled with office intrigues, and just as he thought he could enjoy some peace, his phone rang. The name "Spy Eye" appeared on the screen, immediately putting him on alert. As his trusted informant, Spy Eye only called for urgent matters.“Yes, what is it?” Darren asked as he answered the call.“Boss, there’s a big problem,” Spy Eye’s raspy voice came through. “The managers… they’re dead. Someone infiltrated the place where we were keeping them.”Darren froze, his rage threatening to boil over. Those managers, involved in the company’s embezzlement scandal, were key witnesses against Baron. Their deaths significantly complicated his plans to expose Baron's crimes.“How could this happen? Didn’t you secure the location properly?” Darren’s voice was stern, nearly thunderous.“We had layered security in place, Boss. But something went wrong. The assassin was highly professional—no trace left behind. There wasn’
