“How dare you talk to me like that? Do you want to die?” Ezrah felt wronged to be misjudged like this.
Since he didn’t love Zora, he assigned her a butler to take care of her. Therefore, he was not responsible for anything concerning her. If not for the baby, they would have divorced months ago.
The baby was the only thing keeping them together and giving her the title of Mrs. Gannon, which rightfully belonged to Piper. She was the reason why he went to that party, but she had explained to him that her mother had fallen ill, which was why she could not meet up as planned.
The butler’s unclogged attitude aroused both anger and irritation in Ezrah’s heart, yet this butler remained unremorseful.
Turning around, he daringly retorted, “Yes, sir. I will be very glad if you kill me. What is the world and this house without Madam Zora? It's nothing more than an empty shell.”
Ezrah was enraged by the butler’s mannerism, but he was almost twice his age. “If you want to leave, I won’t stop you, but bear in mind that there is more to the story than you think.”
He knew that everybody would blame him for this but could not accept that it was his fault. It was not easy to live with a woman he had no feelings for three years.
However, there was a silent question hidden in his heart. If he didn’t love Zora, then why the passion between them, especially during the few nights they spent together making love?
It was such a shame that he could not even bring himself to touch the woman he claimed to love so much.
“If you will allow me a few days to stay with her at the hospital, then I might continue working for you, but if not, then I will resign,” Rudolph stated his conditions.
Unaware of the divorce and waiting for Zora to get better and return to the mansion, he could not bring himself to leave as he wanted.
Ezra was glad that he chose to stay, being his most respected, wise, and hardworking domestic worker.
“You don’t have to be at the hospital. I will be there myself,” Ezrah said reassuringly, and the butler sighed with relief. It was great to know that his boss was not going to be with that woman when his wife was involved in another accident.
“Okay. Then I will stay and watch over the domestic affairs,” the butler reluctantly agreed.
At the hospital, Ezrah was ambushed by the representatives of the media houses present upon his arrival.
“Mr. Gannon, are you just finding out that your wife was involved in an accident?” One of the media reps asked, but Ezrah gave her the cold shoulder, trying to maneuver his way through the crowd.
He almost made it to the hospital entrance due to the fact that he was feared, and most of them readily gave way, but a slender hand wrapped around his torso from the back, a familiar melodious voice rang,
“Ezrah, I’m glad I found you. I was so worried.”
Piper had been waiting at the hospital as soon as she heard the news. Last night, Ezrah told her about the divorce and how they were going to finalize everything this morning.
When he asked about the audio, she denied it, blaming it on the hotel and making it look as if someone had secretly planted a recorder in the room before it was booked.
Ezrah believed her, and she awaited the news about the finalization of the divorce, only to be met with the news that Zora had been involved in a car accident. Fearing that Ezra might be stricken with guilt to stay by her side, Piper resorted to this.
This was her chance to make her appearance known to the media since someone had removed the previous news, she sent viral about herself and Ezrah’s affairs.
On the other hand, Ezrah was upset by her unwanted appearance. His public image and position as CEO mattered to him than anything else.
“Piper, what did I tell you?” His eyes and voice were so cold, Piper shivered as tears brimmed in the back of her eyes.
Ezrah was always warm towards her; she never expected this from him. Also, his company and her father’s had a business collaboration, so he dared not disrespect her as he might end up losing that business.
With the media reps gathered around them, she put on a pitiful expression, ensuring that they heard every detail that came out of her mouth. Soon, they were gathered around them as she shrieked,
“You promised we were going to get married after the divorce, so since it’s over, what stops us from being together? You are no longer responsible for her. She is now your ex-wife.”
The news was a stun and a butter on bread for the reps present. “Mr. Gannon divorced his wife?” They were murmuring among themselves, ensuring to record everything as one of them asked Piper,
“Excuse me, Miss, did you say that Mr. Gannon and his wife were divorced? Was that the reason for the accident?”
The event was being broadcasted live, Ezrah felt suffocated and greatly angered. If news about this surfaced, his brothers would just have another opportunity to take his hard work from him. Piper’s immature behavior was beginning to get in on him.
Piper straightened herself to face the camera, brushing her hair elegantly with her fingers to look good in the video. “Yes, my name is Piper Henshaw, his…” she didn’t finish speaking when Ezrah’s painful voice rang as he tore her arms off him.
“I don’t know who she is. I love my wife, and I need to take care of her.”
Thus, he left Piper to face the shame she caused. He just denied her in public, declaring his love for Zora. Piper did not know how to feel about it.
Tears welled up in her eyes, rolling down she cheek as she ran after him. “Ezrah, how can you say that?” At the entrance, she was stopped by some bodyguards.
It was hard to tell if they worked for Ezrah, his father, or Zora’s family. “Miss, only family members are allowed, and you are not one of them,” one of the bodyguards said sternly to her.
With the media reps behind her and the bodyguards in the front, she turned to her right with shame that was too much to hold in, running through the crowd of onlookers, looking for a place to hide, but the media reps were equally chasing after her. They loved her courage and could make news and money of her since she was the first daughter of the Henshaw family.
Ezrah entered the emergency ward, met with a blinding slap that echoed through the waiting area. “You asshole, where have you been when your wife was rushed here over an hour ago? And who is that woman? Was she your reason for being late?” His father snarled.
It took Ezrah a few seconds to recover from the painful impact of the slap. Though he showed no sign of weakness, he was shocked by the people gathered in the hospital for the sake of Zora. It made him dizzy.

"Where is my wife?" Ezrah asked, addressing no one in particular, trying to avoid the scrutinizing gazes. It was a shame that his parents and brothers had arrived at the hospital before him, but how could he have known? Zora had only mentioned leaving a parcel for him at home. How could he have known it was going to be a suicide note? The victorious glint in his elder brothers' eyes annoyed him the most. Even as the youngest of the three brothers, Ezrah excelled in everything. Undoubtedly, his brothers envied him as he was also the apple of his parents' eyes. The disappointed look in his father's eyes caused unease in his heart. Even his mother's gaze lost the usual warmth she always welcomed him with."You should have been the first to arrive, but I even got here before you," his elder brother, Ethan Gannon, sneered. As if that wasn't enough, Ezrah's second elder brother, Lucas Gannon, added salt to the injury."I just saw it from here. He must have been with that woman, and they wer
“Were your parents aware of everything?” Coco asked as they arrived at her two-bedroom apartment. Being old friends, they had a lot to catch up on as she hadn’t seen Zora in a long time.Talking on the phone once in a while was not enough for them to share all that was happening in their lives. Zora removed her shoes at the entrance, noticing how well Coco kept her small apartment neat with everything well arranged.Zora loved having things organized as well, and this was the first time they were going to live together, so she was sure she wasn’t going to inconvenience her best friend.“Dad sent the car with two dead bodies from the morgue. He also arranged for the jet and a hacker to cover the CCTVs somehow after I got down from the cab and walked towards the car he sent,” Zora revealed. The moment she was discharged from the hospital, she began planning everything but could not execute it without her parents' help.Being an only child, her happiness, more than anything else, mattere
Zora had no intention of taking that path. Her goal was to learn new skills to help develop the business she wanted to set up. Having honed her skills with the Gannons, it lifted her spirits, making her realize how profitable she could be in that field.“My mom moved in circles in the movie industry. It just doesn’t appeal to me.”She didn’t want to mention Coco either and instead added, “I’d rather explore something different. I want to learn ethical hacking, clothing design, and modeling. Anything related to fashion is what I want to pursue,” she said thoughtfully. The best revenge would be to develop herself to be better than she was before, and when she succeeds, she would ensure that nobody could help Piper for what she did to her unborn child.Although Coco knew that Zora could still achieve all the aforementioned with help from her parents, she still couldn't allow her to stay alone at the apartment.“While you're at it, don’t let this opportunity pass you by. I just don’t want
“I’m sorry, Piper, but let’s break up for now,” Ezrah's expression was aloof as he delivered those words as if they were inconsequential. Piper was dumbfounded, shock registering on her face. After carefully orchestrating that accident to leave no traces behind, she was relieved that even though Zora had escaped, another accident claimed her life, indicating that fate had intervened.Just when Piper thought everything was finally falling into place as it should have been, Ezrah dropped this heartbreaking news.“Ezrah, what are you talking about?” Her expression was so glum that not even all the makeup could brighten it. It was as if she had just risen from the grave.Ezrah remained aloof. At that moment, all he could think about was the Company and his image in front of the media. He may not have been a good husband to Zora, but she had still protected him. How could he let her sacrifices be in vain? Being with Piper would only disrespect those sacrifices.“You heard me, Piper. My wif
“Well, that is my condition. If you break up with me, I will tell my father to withdraw everything. So, what do you think? Do you still want to break up with me?”Piper was certain that Ezrah would change his mind. After all, he prioritized money more than anything in the world.Ezrah thought carefully. That partnership would boost the Gannons’ finances by twenty percent, but if he moved on so fast, then it would only confirm Ethan’s accusation that Piper was the reason for Zora’s death. In the worst case, he would lose his position to either of his elder brothers, and that would also mean disaster for the company, which has thrived over the years under Ezrah’s leadership. After coming to a conclusion, he pushed the file he was scrutinizing before back to her.“You should know by now that I’m not one who flinches at threats. Goodbye, Piper.”Piper was so shocked, a tear dropped down her cheek. Was Ezrah planning to remarry Zora’s dead body? How could he let go of such an opportunity b
Coco had forgotten to warn Zora about the Queen of the movie industry, Bianca Davis. Anyone who wanted to climb higher would have to kowtow to her as she was the fiancée of the producer, Zane Green himself. The actresses patronized her as her recommendations were always final, and no one dared to cross Bianca. Sadly, Coco was not in Bianca’s good books as a result of continuously refusing to dance to her tune. She ended up not only with minor roles but also with bullying like this during auditions or the main shoot. “It's alright, Zora. Please don’t get into trouble,” Coco whispered in her ears, but Zora was too upset to be reasoned with. Having dealt with Ezrah’s brothers, she hated the likes of Bianca, who felt like the world revolved around them. Director Sonny saw everything unfold and did not utter a word. It seemed like Bianca met her match this time or Coco got the right person to stand in her defense. “No. She stepped on your foot. I saw it, and she has to apologize,” Zora
Zora felt at a loss. If the producer sacked her, then who was this man to tell her otherwise? Perhaps it was because he hadn’t seen what had transpired earlier. She tried to explain it to him. “But…” “He’s Mr. Newman,” Coco took the words out of her mouth. Zora stared at her with confusion on her face, not knowing who Mr. Newman was. Coco understood the confusion on her face, going on to explain. “The biggest investor of the production. He must have seen everything through the CCTV.” It was one of Mr. Newman’s hobbies to casually check if his money was being put to good use. One of his clauses was also to bring up new faces in the movie industry, as viewers tend to get tired of the old ones unless they are extremely good. It was better for him to weigh his options the right way. Zora was glad the studio had cameras. At least there was someone higher than Zane to give justice to someone like her. She stole a glance at him, seeing how the man had paled, and even Bianca had moved away
Mr. Newman’s expression was slightly sorrowful as he revealed, “As a babysitter.” Zora scoffed and was about to refuse when he made the greatest revelation. “But you would have to marry him. It’s simple. I want you to marry my son for one year. I will pay you handsomely for it.” Zora didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. This was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard. After experiencing a loveless marriage firsthand, she was not willing to make that mistake again. Not even someone as powerful as Mr. Newman could make her consider it. “Mr. Newman, I think you have the wrong person. I’m neither ready to be a babysitter nor get married. I’m sorry, but you just wasted your time.” She opened the car door, about to step out when he explained calmly, “My son had an accident and is in a vegetative state. Before that, a girl was pregnant for him but died giving birth to his child on the same day he had the accident.” Zora paused, puzzled by the revelation. This situation seemed more
