Five years ago, Maia tried her very best to get Clyden to marry her. Due to the power of her family, she successfully married the only man she ever loved. After enduring Clyden’s cold treatment for years, being hated by her in-laws, and experiencing the bankruptcy of her family’s company, she finally decided to give up on winning his heart. However, Clyden suddenly incurs an accident and loses all of his memories, leading him to love the woman that he vowed to hate for all of his life. They live their life as the loving married couple that Maia always longed for. But what will happen when Clyden finally recovers his memories? Will he continue to care for the woman he has come to love, or will he leave her in the dust after recalling their past? Throw in a couple of crazy family members, an unexpected pregnancy, and a whole lot of jealousy; there’s only one thing that’s certain— Maia is in for a wild ride.

PROLOGUE
I tapped my foot on the hardwood floor and bit my lips in anxiety as I waited for my name to be called. I’ve been here multiple times, but I never seem to have the strength to push through with my decision. This time around, though, I promised myself that I’d finally be able to file our divorce papers. My heart may not like the idea of divorcing Clyden, but my mind tells me that this will be the best decision for the both of us. I’m also pretty sure the Clyden would love the idea of us finally separating. I am the only one who’s still holding onto our broken relationship, after all.    “Mrs. Gonzalo. The attorney is ready to see you now.”   I stood up and wiped my sweaty hands on my jeans. I probably should have worn something more formal, but this was a last-minute decision.

Chapter 1: Meeting Clyden
Maia   I sat down at the dining room table and waited for my husband’s return. It was his birthday today, and I wanted to celebrate it with him. I cooked all of his favorite food and even traveled for an hour to his favorite bakeshop just to buy the chocolate cake that he loves.   “Ma’am, Mr. Gonzalo is currently out on a business meeting with the Ledgers, and he will most definitely not be coming home tonight. I would advise you to go back to your room and not wait for him anymore so that I can clean up the table.”   I’d been waiting for about an hour when Gertrude, the Gonzalo family’s maid, came in to persuade me not to wait for him anymore.   For some reason, I always feel like Gertrude isn’t very fond of me. Al

Chapter 2: Chasing Clyden
Maia I felt a surge of happiness when I thought about the first time that I met Clyden. Thinking of this, I slapped myself awake and waited for Clyden’s return. Finally, at 1 AM in the morning, Clyden finally came back. He was wearing a black suit, but he had already removed his blazer and placed it on his shoulder. His sleeves were also folded up, and the first three buttons of his dress shirt were unbuttoned. Overall, he looked disheveled and tired but still as handsome as ever.  “You’re back!” I excitedly said and ran to where he was. I had already forgotten about how long I had waited for him, and I was surrounded with happiness. Clyden, however, remained silent and just looked at th

Chapter 3: Rejected by Clyden
Five years ago Maia “Are you sure about this?” Camille asked as we walked over to the basketball court.“Yes, I’ve never felt this way to a guy before, so I think I should give it a chance,” I said and breathed in deeply.“You’re fucking insane! Who the hell confesses to a guy in front of the entire student body during a basketball championship? Only you, Maia, only you.”She’s right, though! What I’m going to be doing is definitely insane.“How come you’re so persistent? He’s been acting indifferent toward your advances for the past few months, yet you still have the guts to ask him out in public?” She asked incredulously. I shrugged my shoulders. “He’s charming in that matter! Almost all of my suitors back then would want me to say yes right away, but Clyden understands me! He’s giving me such a fun

Chapter 4: Rejecting Maia
ClydenI woke up at exactly 5:00 in the morning. I always have to wake up early since I still have to cook for my younger siblings and cousins. My family was currently living in our ancestral home because we couldn’t afford to move out and pay for rent every month. Although the house is a little bit cramped, I am thankful that grandma and grandpa still accepted us into their home. They may be a little bit bossy at times, but I think it's only normal since we’re intruding in their home.I cooked for exactly 12 people, and it was about 6:30 AM when I was done. My relatives were now going down the stairs and sitting down in their respective seats. There were only ten seats at the dining room table, so my elder sister and I would stand up to eat.I went upstairs, taking two steps at a time, to come to fetch my mom for breakfast. I gently knocked on her door and waited for her to respond.“Come in,” she said, so I opened the door and ma

Chapter 5: Avoiding Clyden
MaiaI was woken up by my blaring alarm clock, and I could already feel that this was going to be a long day. I crankily got out of bed and did my shower routine slower than usual. I still needed to go to school since I didn’t want my parents to worry, especially my dad.I put on some plain clothes and simple make-up and went downstairs to eat my breakfast. My parents were already sitting at the table, so I tried to put up a fake smile while making my way over to them.“Good morning, mom,” I greeted while kissing her on the cheek.“Morning, dad,” I bowed to him, which he only greeted back with a nod.My father and I have always never been that close. He would always be busy with work ever since I was young, and I would rarely see him at home. He also never attended any of my milestones, so I guess it's only natural that our feelings became distant from each other. He’s also very conscious of our family ima

Chapter 6: Forgetting Maia
ClydenI cycled faster to school since I woke up a little bit late. My boss scolded me yesterday for being twenty minutes late and let me work one hour more for my tardiness. I breathed out a sigh of relief when I arrived at school on time and parked my bike on the bike stand. I was chaining it to the posts when somebody called my name.“Clyden,” Marco called out. I turned to him and saw him running towards me. However, I saw something strange just as I glanced over to him. Maia, the girl who confessed to me yesterday, hid between her friend’s knees and looked down on the ground. Her friend tried to push her away, but she kept her place. Is she— Is she hiding from me? I smirked. She doesn’t think that I don’t genuinely see her, right?“What are you smiling at?” Marco asked. He tried to peer over to Maia’s direction, but I pulled him to the building.“Nothing, let’s get to class

Chapter 7: Loathing Maia
Clyden“Good afternoon, Clyden Gonzalo. My name’s Richard Sevida, owner of Sevida Enterprises and Maia’s father.”My eyes widened in surprise. Maia’s father? Come to think of it, I never really heard of Maia’s last name. It never occurred to me that she could be the daughter of a rich conglomerate. I sat straighter and became warier.“Then what brings you here to talk to me?”He scoffed. “I’ve already told you the reason. You have the guts to reject my daughter in front of the entire student body, yet you’re not even taking responsibility for your actions?”I frowned. “What do you even mean? It’s normal for teenagers to get heartbroken. What makes your daughter an exception? Is it much of a sin that I don’t like her like that? I don’t even know her that well!” I said exasperatedly. He brought out his phone and showed the video of

Chapter 8: Regretting Clyden
MaiaPresent timeMy mother sobbed as she unfolded the events that happened five years ago. I stayed silent all throughout her story, but I could feel my eyes welling up in tears. What is this that I’m feeling? Betrayal? Or maybe some kind of relief?I feel betrayed by my parents since I genuinely thought that Clyden married me for who I am. I felt like everything that I knew was all lies. Even the most important people in my life were able to betray me. How many more people lied in front of my face?I looked down on the ground in disappointment. Looking back at it now, he never really showed that he loves me. In all of our anniversaries and milestones, I’m always the one giving gifts. In every Gonzalo family gathering, he’d want me to stay in the background so I wouldn’t embarrass him in front of his family. My mom sat up and held my hand. I could see that she was having a hard time reaching out to me, so I went closer to h
