Sean finally woke up fully three days later, right as the pathology report came in.

The doctor handed the report to Wilfred. “It’s advanced gastric cancer. We removed most of the tumor during surgery, but it was caught too late. The cancer has already spread.”

Wilfred stood there, stunned, unable to bring himself to even glance at the report. “No… That can’t be… He was fine…

“There must be some mistake!”

Susan lost control. She grabbed the report from the doctor and shoved it back at him. “Look again! This can’t be my son’s report! You must have mixed it up!”

She had been by Sean’s side for three days, crying herself to exhaustion, and now they gave her this news? How could she possibly accept it?

“My son has always been healthy. He only complained of stomach pain sometimes. That’s just a minor issue lots of young people have, isn’t it?

“You must be wrong. There’s no way he’s this sick. My son can’t have cancer…”
